Competition Licence Notes - 2017 Off Road Disciplines A Competition Licence (or Registration in the case of Trials) is required by every rider and passenger participating in any competition held under the National Sporting Code of the ACU. It is the responsibility of the competitor, or in the case of minors the parent or persons with parental responsibility, to ensure that their licence is valid and issued for the correct class. The issuing of a licence does not guarantee an entry into, or acceptance into, any competition. All licences are valid from 1 January to 31 December of the year of issue. Licence fees are non-refundable. Duplicate ACU licences can be obtained on request at a cost of 5. Duplicate FIM and FIM Europe licences can be obtained through the ACU. Your photograph You must send a passport sized photograph if: you are applying for your first licence. your appearance has changed significantly from the photo on your current licence Please write your name and date of birth on the reverse of your photo. Your details You must complete this section in full, or amend clearly if already filled in. Your address must be within the British Isles but not Ireland. Please ensure you include your postcode and date of birth. If under 18 years of age and you have not previously submitted proof of age, you must include this with your application. Section 1 Categories of licence you need You must complete this section. Tick the boxes which apply to you. Licence can be upgraded at any time during the year without additional charge. Youth riders must return their valid licence in order to be upgraded. Section 2 Payment You must complete your payment details. Please do not send cash. If you are paying by cheque, please write the full names of all the licence applicants you are paying for and their member numbers, if known, on the reverse of the cheque. If you wish to pay by Credit/Debit card the ACU cannot guarantee the security of your card details whilst in the post. By paying online the service provider has to take steps to securely deal with your card details. To use the ACU online service go to https://members.acu.org.uk Our target is to process your licence application within 14 days from the date we receive it at the ACU office. Section 3 Medical information If there is a query about any aspect of your fitness you may be asked to have a medical examination and eyesight report at your own expense, which could include an exercise tolerance electrocardiogram (or stress ECG ). Please see section 5 below. Section 4 Eyesight Report You must complete this section if you meet any of the criteria at the top of section 4. You must pay any fee charged for the eyesight report. Section 5 Medical Report You must complete this section if you meet any of the criteria at the top of section 4. If you are applying for an International licence and you are over 50 years of age, you must also have an exercise tolerance electrocardiogram (or stress ECG ) and the results must be favourable, this is then required at least every 3 years. Please do not send the trace but only the results. You must pay any fee charged for the medical report and, if applicable, the stress ECG test. Cross-country Rallies: An applicant for any licence in Cross-Country Rallies must undergo and pass successfully an echocardiogram once in his/her lifetime prior to the issuing of the licence. An exercise tolerance electrocardiogram must be conducted and successfully passed with this echocardiogram and is then required every three years. Further information can be found on the ACU website www.acu.org.uk under Medical Matters. Section 6 Declaration and Acknowledgements You must complete this section. Please read the statements very carefully and fully appreciate what you are signing. You must be a current member of an ACU affiliated club, except if you are applying for a Speedway licence only, and must obtain a Unique Code from that Club. Please also remember to sign the form yourself. If you are under 18 years old your form must also be signed by your parent or person with parental responsibility. The FIM Anti-Doping Code came into force on 1st July 2004. Regulatory bodies from all sports have a duty to ensure they comply with the FIM and WADA s aims of promoting all aspects of anti-doping. By signing the Acknowledgement and Agreement of the FIM Anti- Doping Code you agree to comply with, and be bound by, all parts of the FIM Anti-Doping Code. The Code can be viewed on the FIM website, www.fim.ch under publications - Rules and Codes. If you have a medical condition, for which you are on any regular tablets or injections, then you must check that your medication is not within the World Anti-Doping ncy (WADA) prohibited classes of substances and prohibited methods. If in doubt, ask your own doctor or pharmacist or consult the Anti-Doping section of the WADA website on www.wada-ama.org If your medication is banned and you are applying for an FIM World Championship or Prize Event licence then you will need to submit a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) form with your licence application. TUE form can be downloaded from the WADA website www.wada-ama.org or is available on request from the ACU. When completed, the TUE form needs to be forwarded to us for processing. Any licence holder taking a banned substance will have to submit a TUE form at the time of testing, should that ever happen. Expert Expert status will be given to riders who appear on the Expert list compiled by the ACU Office You can qualify for Expert Listing by the following means: Point scorer in an adult National Motocross Championship Registered Rider in the ACU British MX Championship MX1 / MX2 Top 10 point scorer in the BYN Championship Open class Selected by Centre Recorders based on Regional or Club Championships Upgraded by the Motocross Committee Riders will be removed from the list after two years if they have not scored any regional or national Championship points. Upgrading to International Once you have gained your expert status you are eligible to apply for an International Non Championship licence. Please also see Restrictions for FIM / FIM Europe Licences which appear at the end of this section. Youth MX Mini Bike After reaching of age you can apply for a Adult Mini Bike licence. Flat Track Restricted Entry level for first-time applicants. National Upgrading to National You must supply evidence on your record card(s) of qualifying and finishing in the open final at 6 separate Centre Restricted or Regional Restricted events (passengers require 3 signatures). It is your responsibility to ensure that your record card is signed by the Secretary of the Meeting or the Clerk of the Course. Please note only one final is accepted from each meeting. Please note that National licences are not interchangeable between Solo and Sidecar. Upgrading to International National licence holders are eligible to apply for an International Non-Championship licence. An International Non-Championship licence can only be obtained through the relevant National Championship or at the discretion of the Track Racing Committee. Please also see Restrictions for FIM / FIM Europe International Licences which appears at the end of this section. Lapsed Licences National licence holders who have allowed their licence to lapse for 3 years or more will be required to resume racing at Restricted level unless approved otherwise by the Track Racing Committee.
