GETTING TO THE RACE By Train There is a fast and frequent rail service from London King s Cross & London Liverpool Street through to Cambridge. There are excellent connections from Scotland & the North via Peterborough, and regional services from Birmingham & the Midlands, East Anglia & the Northwest. For bus services from Cambridge railway station into the city centre look for the Citi 1, Citi 3 or Citi 7 services. By Road From the South & from London, Cambridge is a short trip up the M11 motorway. From the north, the A1 and M1 link to the A14 dual carriageway straight to the city, and from the east and west, the A14 again takes you to Cambridge. Park & Ride We also recommend using the Park & Ride facilities located on the outskirts of the City. There is a swift and frequent bus ride to the City Centre from 9am on event day. The Trumpington Park & Ride at postcode CB2 9FT will operate two earlier bus services at 8am and 8.30am. All Park & Ride services will charge their usual fee. Car Parking There is good parking in the centre of Cambridge with the Queen Anne Terrace multi story car park located extremely close to the start area of the Wings for Life World Run. We recommend participants car share as much as possible to reduce congestion in the city and use the car parks in and around Cambridge (charged at their usual parking fee). Queen Anne Terrace https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/queen-anne-terrace-car-park Grafton East https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/grafton-east-car-park Grand Arcade - https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/grand-arcade-car-park Park Street - https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/park-street-car-park

THE RACE What happens on the day? On arrival at Parker s Piece all runners must report to registration in the registration marquee in the centre of the park. Runners must (in the following order): 1. Sign a disclaimer in the disclaimer area 2. Take your disclaimer and give your bib number that you received by email prior to the race, to registration staff in order to receive your bib 3. Should you have a bag you wish to store, fix the baggage tag from your bib securely to the bag then drop off your bag in the bag drop area The Route The Wings for Life World Run course begins in central Cambridge and winds its way out of the city and into the beautiful (flat!) Cambridgeshire countryside. The whole route will be closed to vehicles but please keep your eyes peeled for other runners and safety crew on bicycles. We have positioned Refreshment Stations along the route to keep the runners hydrated and energised while running, plus Bus Pick Up Points to pick up and bring runners back to the start once their race is run. Toilets will also be placed along the route at some Refreshment Stations and Bus Pick Up Points. The whole route will be marked and race marshals will help direct the runners in the correct way along the course Medical Information First aid support will be available Runners in need of assistance should speak to volunteers or medical staff who will be placed along the route. A full medical team will also be on site at Parkers Piece for any serious injuries and a team will also be driving behind the catcher car. If during the race emergency services require access to any part of the route, they will take priority and road closures will be suspended for those emergency vehicles. In such a situation race marshals along the route will warn the runners and in some cases may be required to hold runners back while the emergency services pass.

Refreshment Stations Refreshment stations are positioned along the route roughly every 3-4km.The full Refreshment Station route map is shown on the next page. Plan your nutrition strategy accordingly; being properly hydrated and fuelled is key for maximising your performance. At each station there will be the following items to keep you hydrated and energised during the race: Water Red Bull Energy Drink Red Bull + Water mix Bananas Oranges Sweets Important Race Information No pushchairs of any kind are allowed in the race No pets are allowed No headphones are allowed in the race Participants must pass the Catcher Cars stationed at the start line to activate their bib when the race starts The Cather Car will pass you on your RIGHT. Keep to the LEFT of the road as it approaches you There are no showers or changing rooms at the event. Please arrive in your running kit. There is a bag drop location to leave your bags Deciding not to run Please remember that it is very foolish to run if you have had any sort of virus or fever in the last four weeks. It is equally foolish to run with an injury - in these circumstances, please DO NOT run. If you decide not to run for any reason, please do not give your race number to anyone else. You MUST NOT under any circumstances use someone else s running number, nor let anyone use yours. Please note that the organiser reserves the right to disqualify runners who have swapped bibs.
