Preface: master and owner table of contents Live your dream! Since I was a little boy I always dreamed of owning a ship, which seems a touch unusual for someone who grew up in the Bavarian alps. It was love at first sight when I discovered the trunk of the gorgeous sailer at Alkmaar harbour 30 years ago. At this time I had no real idea of the complex process concerning the refurbishment of a traditional wooden sailer. I understood the true meaning of the sailers original name, however, immediately; NA ROVIE RUST, It is of Flemish origin and can be translated into work before 3 long tradition and many opportunities 4 opportunities 6 fascination sailing 7 vita NA ROVIE RUST 9 Restoration 10 Summary 11 sailer outlines 14 technical specifications 15 contact details pleasure. Enthusiasm, hard work, energy, capital expenditure and a lot of time on the one hand, new friends, experiences and a lot of positive emotions on the other hand always kept a good balance. The result is fabulous: NA ROVIE RUST today is a unique classic sailer in top condition and an eye-catcher in any harbour. I would now like to hand over my jewel to someone has a similar passion to myself. A ship with such a long history and cultural tradition should be kept alive. One unforgettable moment was when NA ROVIE RUST was used as a floating stage for the play the ghostship to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the city of Emden/East Friesia, Germany. What has worked as a stage for a large audience would also work as a communication platform for business partners, clients, suppliers, employees or last but not least for your own family. Just realise your dream! You ll get a first impression on the following pages. Do not hesitate to contact me for further information or a live visit on location. Master and Owner Joachim E. Prasse
long tradition and many opportunities NA ROVIE RUST was built in 1932 in Oostende, Belgium, used as a fishing trawler many years and at last rediscovered at Alkmaar harbour in 1978. Since 1982 the old-timer was passionately refurbished and equipped with modern technology by the master and owner Joachim E. Prasse. The work was supported by the experts from the specialised Bültjer shipyard in Ditzum/East Frisia, Germany. Today NA ROVIE RUST is a classic sailer in top condition. During the refurbishment process the distinctive wooden sailer was frequently booked for different spectacles and special events. In 1995 more than 10000 spectators celebrated NA ROVIE RUST in the play the ghost ship during the 500th anniversary of the northern German city of Emden. Up to 30 actors were on deck of the spectacular floating stage at the same time. Two years later old Fritz, the famous king of Prussia and his royal suite used NA ROVIE RUST for a six-week inspection-tour. The tour crossed East Frisia from the city of Emden via Ditzum to the harbour of Leer. long tradition and many opportunities 3

Restoration authenticity first The antetype of NA ROVIE RUST s restoration was the original english trawler, still fishing under sails. These trawlers where famous for their extraordinary speed and seaworthiness. Sails outlines have been investigated in english ship museums. Regarding material and processing authenticity was always first to the master and owner. And here are just a few examples: the whole rig is spliced manually; there has been no use of standard press-thimbles, the bullseyes are manufactured from original pockwood, all fissures between hulk and deck planks are caulked with oakum and casted with pitch, top mast and jib boom are rigged traditionally and able to be retracted, all mast fittings are hand forged and hot-dip galvanized, the interior work has been manufactured at a specialized cabinet makers applying the traditional frame and infill method by using exclusive mahogany wood. One could continue this list arbitrary. Fact is, traditional sailors, which are restorated consequently like NA ROVIE RUST are the exception even in nowadays harbour museums! Restoration 9
Summary NA ROVIE RUST is a top condition classic sailer. The ship holds a long tradition and should kept alive as a true cultural asset. The master and owner wishes to hand over the sailer to someone with a real passion for such craft. Whether used as a classic sailer to a professional communication platform for business partners and employees to an event-or museums platform the opportunities are endless and always an eye-catcher in any harbour!
