About Girls on the Run St. Louis 5k Events The Girls on the Run St. Louis (GOTR-STL) bi-annual races are the largest timed 5k events in St. Louis and are held on the streets of Downtown St. Louis each May and November. The races serve as the culminating event for the Girls on the Run St. Louis program participants, celebrating 10 weeks of training. Teams from 19 counties across Missouri and Illinois come together with family, coaches, teachers, supporters, and members of the local running community for a fun-filled morning to support girl empowerment and healthy living for the whole family. Race day festivities include music and dancing with a DJ, photos, face painting and hair decoration, food trucks, activities hosted by our partners and giveaways. The race is open to the general public. As a Girls on the Run St. Louis 5k sponsor you will receive: Access to more than 18,000 race participants annually, including more than 5,000 program participants ages 8-14, parents, corporate partners, and members of the St. Louis running community. Your company s name and/or logo on event collateral which may include promotional flyers, e- blasts to more than 16,000 email addresses, the GOTR-STL website, Facebook, Twitter, event signage and more. Exposure in media alerts, press releases, race advertisements, and public service announcements through diverse media outlets throughout the Greater St. Louis community. The spring 2013 season culminates our celebration of our 10 th anniversary and serving more than 10,000 girls! GOTR-STL was established as a way to help girls recognize their extraordinary potential and thrive in a world that often sends them unhealthy and unrealistic messages. An identified community need and organic growth through volunteer support and word-of-mouth have allowed us to empower a generation of girls. 2012-2013 Demographics GOTR-STL is the third largest council of the 200+ councils that make up Girls on the Run International. Serving more than 18,000 runners annually, the GOTR-STL bi-annual 5k events are the largest 5k races in the Greater St. Louis Area. We will serve more than 5,000 girls in more than 240 schools in 19 counties across eastern Missouri and western Illinois. Our program is offered in 55 school districts and 43 independent schools within our service area. 85% of race participants are female and represent two powerful customer bases: tweens and their Moms!
