The Tandem Men World Circumnavigation Attempt 2016 Sponsorship Pack
George Agate John Whybrow George. Age: 22. Hometown: Chichester, West Sussex. Role: Stoker (Rear Saddle) John. Age: 23. Hometown: Hunstanton, Norfolk. Role: Captain (Front Saddle) Whats its all about? 18,000 miles 30 countries 6 continents 2 men 1 bike John Whybrow and George Agate will set off from the UK in Spring 2016, to become the first team ever to circumnavigate the earth by tandem bicycle, thereby setting the Guinness World Record. 18,000 miles around the world, heading in one direction, east or west, has only been achieved a handful of times by bicycle, but never by tandem. In completing this mammoth challenge, John and George will write themselves into the history books as the first people to complete this unique achievement. The boys will complete this expedition entirely unsupported, carrying all their equipment with them on the bike, including everything from camping equipment to cooking facilities. They will aim to cycle 100 miles a day whilst on the road. This will push them to the limit both mentally and physically every single day for approximately 8 months. The circumnavigation will start and finish in the historic city of Canterbury, where the boys met whilst at university. Having met at the University of Kent, John and George quickly realised they shared an insatiable desire for adventure and a life of the less ordinary. A humble idea conceived round the oak table of a Canterbury free house, has rapidly snow balled leading them to the most demanding challenge of their lives to date. The expedition will be a huge challenge both mentally and physically as the men strive to hit the magic number of 100 miles on the road per day. John and George, as recent graduates from university, are now working part time jobs to allow adequate time for the training needed to fulfil this immense endurance expedition. So far they have enlisted the help of a personal trainer and sports nutritionist to ensure they stand the best chance of setting their target of sub-300 days for the new world record. They are now seeking corporate sponsorship from an organisation to help them cover the financial costs of completing the circumnavigation.
