INTRODUCTION THE NEW WILD ENDURO RANGE COVERS MORE THAN 80 PERCENT OF THE TYPES OF TERRAIN ENCOUNTERED BY ENDURO RIDERS Following two years of development work and validation in world class Enduro competition, Michelin is poised to strengthen its position in the mountain bike tyre market. In the wake of the launch of its new Cross Country and All-Mountain ranges last spring, Michelin has turned its attention to Enduro with the introduction of three new WILD ENDURO tyres (FRONT MAGI-X / FRONT GUM-X / REAR GUM-X) which cover more than 80 percent of the different types of terrain likely to be encountered by Enduro riders. The WILD ENDURO range targets both casual fans of the discipline and expert riders who seek tyres that combine performance, outstanding grip and strength. Not only does this particularly versatile new range tick all these boxes but it also simplifies tyre choice by providing riders with an efficient solution for practically every situation. This flexibility ensures maximum efficiency across the spectrum of terrain types encountered during most rides, from forest trails, to dry, hard-packed ground, sand and damp surfaces. This versatility and the two new rubber compounds developed for the WILD ENDURO range also address the needs of more experienced riders thanks to the GRAVITY SHIELD, MAGI-X² and GUM-X3D technologies that these new tyres pack. Michelin s riders and engineers started to develop the casings and rubber compounds for the WILD ENDURO range at the end of 2015, while work on the tread patterns began during 2016. Enduro stars like Adrien Dailly, Jérôme Clementz, Karim Amour and Remy Absalon all played a part in developing, testing and signing off the three tyres that make up the new WILD ENDURO range and the release of the 27.5-inch versions is planned for March 2018. wild Enduro 2 A NEW RANGE FOR 2018
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION WILD ENDURO RANGE: THREE PROVEN TECHNOLOGIES FOR THREE NEW TYRES The range comprises two different front tyres (MAGI-X 2 and GUM-X3D) and one rear tyre (GUM-X3D). Extremely versatile, it covers a wide spectrum of uses and simplifies tyre choice by providing riders with an efficient solution for practically every situation, from forest trails to damp or sandy surfaces, while the casing s rigidity maximises safety on hard-packed, stony ground. This versatility and the two new rubber compounds available for the WILD ENDURO range also cover the needs of the more experienced rider. extrem terrain hard/dry terrain mixed/soft terrain mud terrain extra grip+ grip+ enduro front enduro rear rock R 2 enduro front magi-x rock R 2 enduro gum-x force enduro rear gum-x wild enduro front magi-x 2 wild enduro front gum-x3d wild enduro rear gum-x3d mud enduro magi-x Because of the role it plays in ensuring steering precision, the front tyre provides 80 percent of the grip, so the tread blocks are designed to be progressive, adapt to the terrain and brake safely. For optimal strength, comfort and grip feedback, the casing benefits from Gravity Shield technology. Riders can choose between two rubber compound options depending on their personal skill level. Thanks to its new MAGI-X² compound, the MAGI-X version targets experienced riders and experts due to the outstanding grip it delivers at speed, under braking and when leaning, irrespective of the conditions (dry, wet) and in hot and cold weather alike. The alternative GUM-X front provides maximum enjoyment in complete safety thanks to its first class grip and carefully-balanced performance which make it ideal for riders of all levels. The latest-generation GUM-X3D rubber compound ensures a more flexible construction for greater stability under cornering and to cover a wide variety of terrain types, in summer or winter alike. The GUM-X3D compound was selected for certain EWS events that did not call for the MAGI-X² compound. For the rear tyre, which plays the role of power house, Michelin focused on fine-tuning the trade-off between grip and strength in order to cover a broad diversity of uses. The GUM-X3D rubber compound is the perfect match for the new tread architecture and pattern thanks to the efficiency, grip and traction it delivers. The strength demanded of a rear Enduro tyre necessitated the use of a reinforced GRAVITY SHIELD casing which has been strengthened in the bead area to optimise performance and prevent pinching. This strengthening is situated just above the heel with a view to improving protection and enhancing energy absorption to guard against knocks and pinching under hard cornering. wild Enduro 3 A NEW RANGE FOR 2018
TREAD PATTERNS VALIDATED IN THE WORLD OF ENDURO COMPETITION The patterns of the new WILD ENDURO FRONT and WILD ENDURO REAR were tested and approved by Michelin riders in the course of the 2017 Enduro. Michelin riders collected podium finishes at all eight rounds of the championship, from muddy Tasmania to the black trails of Madeira, the hard-packed ground and banked corners of Whistler Mountain and the stony, dusty tracks visited by the competition s finale. The versatility of the WILD ENDURO range undeniably facilitated tyre choice for Michelin s riders. front rear 3X33TPI High density Fiber (+ +) 3X60TPI new High density Fiber (+) Pinch protection ROBUSTNESS EXPERT SPEED rear COMFORT STIFNESS ROLLING EFFICIENCY GRIP / TRACTION front LIGHTNESS EXPERIENCED wild Enduro 4 A NEW RANGE FOR 2018
