VS. OAKLAND: The Orioles lead the season series, 4-2 With Friday s win, the Birds clinched their first season series win over Oakland since 1998 (8-3) The Orioles trail in the all-time series 249-251 (120-126 in Baltimore and 129-125 in Oakland) The series win in Oakland April 25-28 was the Orioles first in a four-game set at Oakland since July 31-August 3, 1997. RUBBER GAME: In finales of three-game sets that have decided the winner of the series this year, the Orioles are 12-6, going 6-3 at home and 6-3 on the road. CALIFORNIA LOVE: The Orioles are 15-8 against California teams this year (5-2 against the Angels, 4-2 against the Athletics, 2-1 against the Dodgers, 2-2 against the Padres and 2-1 against the Giants) The Birds are 10-3 in the Golden State, going 3-1 in both Anaheim and Oakland, 2-0 in San Diego and 2-1 in San Francisco. THE SAVE-IOR: Jim Johnson recorded his AL-leading 40 th save Friday He is the first pitcher in Orioles history to post two 40-save seasons He became the 21 st pitcher in MLB history to record consecutive 40+ save seasons Now has 91 saves over the last two seasons, becoming the 10 th pitcher in major league history to record as many as 91 saves over a two season span, joining Eric Gagne, Francisco Rodriguez, John Smoltz, Mariano Rivera, Dennis Eckersley, Trevor Hoffman, Randy Myers, Bobby Thigpen and Jose Valverde. TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK: The first eight games of the homestand have averaged three hours and 19 minutes in duration (1,594 minutes). DIVISION DOMINANCE: The Birds are now 20-12 (.625) against the A.L. West this season, their fifth-best winning percentage against the West all-time (behind 1997, 1969, 1971 and 1979) and second-best since each league went to three divisions in 1994 (behind 32-12,.727 in 1997). THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME?: The Orioles have made 39 errors in 128 games, a pace for 49 errors in 162 games The major league record for fewest errors in a 162-game season is 65 by the 2003 Seattle Mariners The 2013 Orioles lead the majors with a.992 fielding percentage, which, if maintained through the entire season, would be the best fielding percentage in baseball history, topping the 2007 Rockies.989 mark.
