We deeply appreciate the sacrifices our veterans make for our freedom. Thank you to all of the brave men and women for their dedicated and loyal service. Wildcat Super Fans The Palestine Wildcat Varsity Football Team named Theresa Boyd and John Mullinix as their Super Fans at the Friday, October 21st football game. Theresa and John have attended almost every varsity football game for the past 12 seasons. P a ge 2 Wildcat Weekly V olume 5: I ss u e 9 Go Wildcats Athletic Director: Robby Clark Palestine Athletics Cross Country: Cross Country ended the season with Girls third in district and Boy s winning their 11th District Championship in a row. The teams worked hard this season and we look forward to next season. Congratulations to Freshman, Michael Guzman for advancing to the UIL State Cross Country Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Good luck Michael! Basketball: The JV and Varsity Ladycats traveled to Franklin and competed in a scrimmage last night. The JV team played Navasota, Franklin, and Waco Meyer. These young ladies improved from the very first game until the last one. Score was not kept, however you could see confidence grow as they played more as a team. The Varsity Ladycats went 3-1 in the scrimmage. Palestine vs Latexo 16-0 Palestine vs Navasota 2-4 Palestine vs Franklin 8-7 Palestine vs Waco Meyer 17-3 These young ladies played outstanding on defense and really have progressed far this season. We are excited to see improvement in all areas of the team as we get better each and every day. Upcoming Basketball Games: Friday, November 4th, 4:30 pm: Girls Junior High Henderson (Home) Saturday, November 5th, 10:00 am: Boy Varsity John Tyler Scrimmage Saturday, November 5th, Time TBA: Girls JV/V Brownsboro Scrimmage Saturday, November 5th, Time TBA: Girls Junior High Hudson Tournament Football: The Freshman Wildcat Football Team ended their season with a BIG WIN over the Henderson Lions 30-16 for a second place finish in district. The team finished 5-1 in district and 8-2 on the season. Against Henderson, Jeremiah Davis rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns, Quinton Cook scored on a 45 yard touchdown run, and Christian Hutchinson connected with Tre Calhoun for a 50 yard touchdown pass. Calhoun ended the night with 115 yards receiving and Hutchinson passed for 205. On defense, Cedric Hicks was the leading tackler with big hits also coming from Davis and Keyshawn Nonette. Teyon Huntley and Dekedryn Butler both came down with big interceptions to kill the Lions' drives. This was a great year for this team, and a great start for their high school athletic careers as they go into offseason to prepare for junior varsity and varsity competition next season. Way to go CATS!! The JV Football season came to an end Thursday night. We were very pleased with the Wildcats attitude and effort this season. The Junior Varsity Team faced a lot of adversity this season and overcame it. We appreciate each one of these young men and look forward to next season. The team played with courage. Outstanding offensive player was Keith Nonette, the outstanding special teams player was Austin Seat who stepped in as a punter. Thanks for your great support this season and we look forward to a great future. Good luck to the Wildcat Varsity Football Team tonight in their last regular season game against Henderson! They will look to finish a great turn around season on a high note. We will also honor all senior athletes before the game at 7:00 pm to recognize all the effort they have given and investment they and their parents have made in the program. LET S GO WILDCATS! PJH Cheerleaders were invited to the PHS Pep Rally last week. They did a great job representing PJH!
