INTRODUCTION EVERYTHING S POSSIBLE AT VALLNORD VALLNORD - ORDINO ARCALÍS VALLNORD is a commercial union between two resorts: on the one hand Arcalís, in the parish of Ordino, and on the other Pal-Arinsal, in La Massana. The 2004/05 season saw these two ski resorts come together, making VALL- NORD the third resort on the Iberian Peninsula in terms of numbers of visitors. One of the main aims of VALLNORD over the last few years has been to preserve the particular personality and features of each resort while creating a broader, more comprehensive concept of a snow resort. For the season 2015/16 the options of ORDINO-ARCALÍS and of PAL-ARINSAL were added to the range of passes and services provided by VALLNORD, and at more affordable rates. Created in 1983 thanks to its northerly orientation which means the resort can open earlier and have a longer season, Ordino-Arcalís continues to surprise with its exceptional conditions for mountain sports. The Ordino resort offers 442 hectares of ski area with 30 km of pistes, 14 lifts capable of transporting 16,500 people an hour, 101 artificial snow cannons, 5 in-house catering establishments, car parks with a capacity for 1,500 vehicles, 2 ski hire centres, 1 ski and snowboard school and its prestigious Freeride school. The difference in altitude at Ordino-Arcalís ranges from 1,940 m to 2,625 m and visitors can enter the resort at two different points. The driving force of the resort is undoubtedly its winter season. Work is constant. Each year sees new products and new developments for clients to have fun and relax, as well as preparing and organising a large number of events and competitions, both national and international. The most outstanding events are the Freeride World Tour, the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, the SBX European Cup, the Borrufa Trophy and the FIS downhill ski trials. 3

VALLNORD The annual Bike & Ski pass is Vallnord s great product: a pass that includes both the summer and winter season and which has been in operation for the last two years. Its competitive price means it s one of the most popular products and is increasingly in demand, both by clients from the country and also visitors from abroad. This winter Vallnord has also consolidated its rechargeable pass, created last season. This pass can be bought at the Vallnord ticket offices and can be topped up at the Vallnord virtual store or at the vending machines for ski passes located at various strategic points in the resorts. The aim is to make it even easier for skiers to get passes and avoid or at least reduce wait times. Considerable changes have also been made to the corporate website. It s now much more user-friendly, as well as providing more content and a direct link for clients via 2.0 tools. Vallnord s commitment to e-commerce can also be seen in its development of appealing, competitive products and services and the improvements made to sales procedures.

NEWS This winter season Vallnord - Ordino Arcalís is investing in consolidating its products aimed at freeriders and families, as well as its commitment to new experiences, unique in Andorra. The Ordino resort is also focusing on its friendly atmosphere and client services. signs indicating the best Freeride spots. Other new developments include the ARVA detector located at l Hortell, the creation of a Freeride Team made up of ambassadors and participants from the Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ), and the growth of the Freeride school and related products. Family Park: Renewal of the children s area, adding new elements and modules such as a 6-metre long tunnel. The park is designed for different levels of difficulty and skill. The Family Park will have a completely new image with all the characters from the Vallnord children s story, l Agustina. Natural Park: A new snow park concept that fuses freeriding and freestyle with natural elements. This is a three-year project that will be implemented in three areas: the Backcountry Park, with natural modules, the Fun Track, a twisting, cambered course, and the Woodpark, which already exists but will change its location. Each area will have three different levels, with the first level being implemented this season, namely XS. It s the first time such a project has been carried out at a resort open to the public. Freeride project: The resort has 21 off-piste zones and more than 140 routes. The aim this season is to make resort s freeride area more tangible and accesses will be installed with Freeride app: There s a new Freeride app, iski X, which includes information on the best resorts in the world such as Chamonix Mont Blanc, Zermatt, Jackson Hole, Whistler Blackcomb, Verbier and recently Vallnord - Ordino Arcalís. The app offers safety tips, maps of zones and routes, weather forecasts and personal tracking, among other features. Mini hydroelectric power station: Pioneering project for producing green energy. The resort will take advantage of its installations and natural resources to produce electricity and become a 100% sustainable resort. This infrastructure will take advantage of the pond used at the resort to produce artificial snow, fed by water from the lakes of Creussans and Tristaina. It s estimated that the mini power station will produce 2 million kwh every year while consumption at Arcalís is around 1.8 million. Airstream: A unique experience in the Principality. A night spent at over 2,000 metres above sea level, in the heart of nature 5

NEWS in a luxury American Airstream mobile home, remodelled and adapted to meet all needs. Maximum capacity for 4 people and adapted with a system of skates so it can be towed by a snowcat and placed at different points of the resort, depending on the weather conditions. An extraordinary experience. Communication: Installation of dynamic screens at client information points with details on prices, special offers and other information of interest to the public. Food and drink: El Refugi restaurant at Les Portelles, the highest in Andorra, is once again under the resort s management and its interior and terrace have been completely remodelled. Alpine cuisine will be on offer. Dinners at La Coma will also be promoted, arriving via a giant sledge that can hold up to 48 people. Safety: Installation of defibrillators in all the resort s buildings and training for all permanent and temporary staff in how to use them. Equipment hire: Extension of the rental shop located at Planells. Friendly atmosphere: A new welcome team has been set up for our busiest days to attend to, help and advise clients who request their support, for example helping to put chains on their wheels, offering them hot chocolate on the coldest days, etc. And for sunnier days, a programme of live concerts has been planned to create a festive atmosphere at the resort. Weather insurance: The weather forecast will no longer stop clients from buying their ski passes from home via the website or at the resort s ticket offices when the weather is doubtful. This insurance policy means that clients are compensated in the case of heavy snowfalls and when the resort is partly closed. 6
