Lefthander Anthony Banda gets the nod for Reno, while lefty Nate Smith will pitch for Salt Lake. Last Night s Game: The Aces dropped the finale of a fivegame series to the Bees, falling by a 9 score on Saturday night before a crowd of, at Smith s Ballpark. A sevenrun sixth inning keyed the victory for the Bees, who won four of the five games during the series. Salt Lake opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning. Former Ace Nick Buss led off the inning with a single, advancing to second on an errant pickoff attempt by Reno pitcher Matt Buschmann. Two batters later, Quintin Berry beat the shift with an RBI single to left field to plate Buss from second. Berry stole second with Cal Towey at the plate and then came around to score on a base hit by Ryan Jackson. The Aces cut their deficit in half in the sixth. Mitch Haniger drew a leadoff walk, advancing to third on Carlos Rivero s single and Sócrates Brito s fielder s choice. Ed Lucas then got Reno on the board with an RBI single off the glove of Salt Lake shortstop Brendan Ryan, allowing Haniger to score. The Bees blew the game open in the home half, sending men to the plate and scoring seven times to extend their lead to 9. Kaleb Cowart hit a oneout double to left, setting up an RBI single by Buss to chase Buschmann. Daniel Gibson relieved the righty, walking Sherman Johnson before Berry lined a base hit through the right side to score Buss. Towey followed with his own runscoring base hit to plate Johnson and knock out Gibson. The lefty was replaced by Matt Capps, who gave up an RBI knock to Jackson that brought home Berry. Ryan followed with a sacrifice fly to left that allowed Towey to come home. Salt Lake s rally continued as Rafael Ortega hit a single to left, setting up a tworun double by Geovany Soto, who had led off the inning with a groundout. The Nos. hitters for Reno were a combined for on the night, and the Aces totaled just nine runs during the five games in Utah. Buschmann () took the loss, his second defeat in his last three starts following a fivegame winning streak that tied his career high.
