September 2016 Newsletter Edition 2 GPS P&C Fete News Back by popular demand it is on again Due to the enormous success and fun had last year GPS P&C Association is holding the Great Geo Fete 2016. The GPS P&C Fete Committee are excited to organise this fun day to raise much needed funds for the school put towards projects within the Geographe Primary School. The GPS Class Parent Reps have all been working really hard to organize stalls for this event. They would all love any assistance you may be able to offer whether it be the volunteering of your time or any donations they may be asking for to run a class stall. DONATION REQUESTS: The GPS P&C Association are calling for any donations of the following: Cadbury s Multi Packs of chocolates for Chocolate Pool Toss. These include MM s, Kit Kats, Milky Way s, Dairy Milk Chocolate, Crunchies etc. please note that we cannot accept chocolates with nuts. Family size chocolate blocks are also required for the Chocolate Pool Toss Empty and cleaned glass jars (about the size of a Dolmio jar) Items for the mystery jars, if you have any items left over from party bags you have made up Kindy Red & LA 3 would love to take them off your hands. They are chasing bouncy balls, blowers, bubbles, crayons, pencils, slinky's, rubbers, rings, matchbox cars etc. Soft drinks and water and juice boxes Cakes, biscuits and slices (for the cake stall) Grocery items for the hampers Kids clothing sizes 2 14 (no shoes please) Old records to be made into bowls. Allergy free ingredients; LA10 are after ingredients for the allergy treats they are creating. sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, medjool dates, cacao powder, Lowan cocoa bombs, pine nuts, coconut cream, sparkling mineral water, gluten free plain flour and apple juice. If you are able to assist with any of these requests please drop any donations to the designated box in the office. Just a quick note regarding donations: The GPS P&C Association are asking for these donations to assist with reducing the costs of the fete so as much of the funds raised as possible can go to the school for projects. However, we are only asking for you to donate if you can and what you are able. This may be items requested, money or time (or a mixture of all). We very much appreciate every bit of help given in all forms. A big thankyou to the families that have already donated their time and/or requested items. Entry to The Great Geo Fete is FREE: Entry to The Great Geo Fete on 15 October 2016 is FREE!! FETE ATTRACTIONS: FAMILY FUNZONE & WRISTBAND PREORDERS: The Family Funzone is bigger and better in 2016, the attractions include: For the Older Kids & More Daring: ATV s Go Karts Bumping Balls High Ropes Course Bucking Bull Bungee Run Kids Gym For the Younger Kids and Less Daring: Merry-Go-Round Jumping Castles Pony Rides Kids Gym DISABILITY FRIENDLY EVENT The Great Geo Fete is a disability friendly event and will provide a Chill-out Zone for any children that may need some time out to reset thanks to the GPS Ed Support School. Preorders for the Family Funzone Wristbands are currently available until 14 October 2015. A Family Funzone Wristband costs $20 and gives the wearer unlimited access to the family fun zone between 9am and 1pm on 15 October 2016. The rides individually would cost between $5 and $10 per ride so the wristbands offer fantastic value and ensure a great day will be had by the kids on the day of the Great Geo Fete 2016. More Fete News: OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: MORE FETE ATTRACTIONS: CLASS STALLS The Great Geo Fete will be having lots of fun and exciting stalls held by each class at GPS, these stall ideas have been suggested by the parents and kids, here is some of what you will find in addition to the Funzone: Chocolate Pool Toss Face Painting Dunking Machine Photo Booth Hair Colour and Crazy Hair Stall Helium Balloons Mystery Jars Cake Stall AFL Ball Toss Pet Rock Stall Pringle Pong Record Bowls Stall Show Bags Hamper Raffle Lucky Sock Dip Guess the Number of Lollies in the Jar Plant Stall Book Stall Fishing Game Stall Toss the Bean Bag Game Kids Clothes Stall Sustainability Stall Chill out Zone for the littlies aged 0-5 As we would love to see many other attendees from outside the GPS school community please help us by inviting your friends and family to lock in the date of the 15 October 2016 for The Great Geo Fete 2016, and come and check out this great event. FOOD STALLS At The Great Geo Fete you will also find lots of the yummy treats you would expect such as: Ice-Cream Stall Fairy Floss Donuts Allergy Free Treats FOOD STALLS cont Sausage Sizzle Coffee Van Cake Stall GPS Canteen: the GPS Canteen will be open to provide both delicious breakfast and lunch menu options. School Grounds Policy As The Great Geo Fete is being held on school grounds all school policies still apply. This means The Great Geo Fete will be a Smoke- Free event and no dogs will be allowed on the school grounds. FIRST AID AND SUNSCREEN STATION A First Aid and Sunscreen Station will be available on the day of the Great Geo Fete. MARKET STALLS The Great Geo Fete has several market stall spots still open for the fete, if you are interested in securing one of these places please contact the GPS P&C at geographepc@gmail.com for an application form or register your interest via Facebook at The Great Geo Fete Saturday October 15th 9am 1pm SHOW OFF YOUR TALENT The GPS P&C would love to know of any kids that would love to showcase their talent or sporting prowess. We still have some spots available to showcase any talents the kids may have, if you would love to be part of any demonstrations we would love to hear from you, especially if you are a skilled martial artist. DUNKING MACHINE: Who would love to dunk your teacher? The opportunity has come one of our victims oops I mean volunteers is Mrs Freeman, so if any of you kids and your parents would like to have a go at dunking Mrs Freeman or any of our lineup of teachers and volunteers you will have to listen for the announcement of when it will be their turn in the dunking machine on 15 October 2016 at The Great Geo Fete. SAUSAGE SIZZLE HELPERS The wonderful people organising the Sausage Sizzle require some volunteers to assist on the day of The Great Geo Fete 2016. Keep your eye out for the roster to go up on your kids classroom door. More information in relation to this stall will come soon. SUPER POSS & PRUDENCE THE POSSOM VISIT We are lucky to be having a confirmed visit from Super Poss on Saturday 15 October 2016. Super Poss is so excited to be coming and we are hoping he is bringing his friend Prudence the Possum from Ed Support. We will keep you posted with updates on this! EXTRAVAGANZA PERFORMANCES Our very talented Extravaganza students will be entertaining us throughout The Great Geo Fete. Listen out for announcements at the Fete and for more information to come for list of performances and times. There will be many other stalls and attractions at the Great Geo Fete such as: Airbrush Tattoos Cricket Clinics Leeuwin Dance Routine BHSH Band We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday 15 October at 9am. Woohoo the countdown is on! CAKE STALL: We will be asking for donations of cakes, slices and biscuits to sell at our cake stall. Please keep an eye out for further information regarding this.
