Race report Round 1 in Swisttal 2016-1A Slotpiste From 8th-10th of April the LMP Pro Series started in the season 2016 with the first race in Swisttal. 29 teams made the inscription but in the end 26 teams where there to compete with more than 70 drivers! The new season started where we finished last year -with a great relaxed and competitive weekend. New teams had a warm welcome and found themselves in a familiar atmosphere. But much more happened over such a long weekend than we can report here, so we focus on the race results. The thursday before the race several teams took the chance for an additional practising, already half of the starting grid was there. The conditions were great, everything cleaned up and a fresh glued track. On friday most of the teams where there with the beginning of the free practise session. Everyone tried to make the most of this day, wehter setup work or just to get track knowledge. Due to our new training cards everything went calm and structured. At 8 p.m. we started with the material handout and technical inspection. Lane 4 was random choosen for the qualifying which was started in reverse championchip standings of the last year. The fastest lap of 1 minute qualifying time counted for the starting grid.

There was less than 2/10 of a second between place 4 and 15!! Often just a few 1/1000 of a second decided over a group position, absolutely amazing! Just a few impressions from the quali: - LemUa from finland had a great lap and qualificated on 12th position for the secondfasted group. - The A-Team from netherlands reached their goal with a top-ten result. - LRD und PQ finished with both teams in the fastest group. - Alex Ortmann from team "RLR" took pole position, followed by Marco Wesseling from "PQ1" As usual we had trophies for 1-3th place in the race as well as "Man of Speed" and "Best of Show" It was a great field of LMP cars, overall well built, detailed and several cars were on a top notch level. Really nice to see a technical ambitioned series with that much optical quality. The Best of Show trophy won Fola (Slotfabrik) with his Porsche 919, followed by Ron`s Oreca 03 (Need more Speed) and Frank`s Audi R18 (Carbon Hornets). The Man of Speed was Alex Ortmann, who defended his ambition over 2 days on the Carrera track with a splendid lap time.

Teamname Driver GP-Slotracing Gregor Peiter Paul Peiter Alex Assenmacher They had a really good quali result with 14th place. In the race the Porsche was a bit diva-like and difficult to drive. Heat 3 finally showed that there is more possible. Need more speed Marcel Czibulinski Ronald Lutz Dirk Hövelmann Too nervous in the qualifying they found thereselve on the last place. In the race things went better as they fought for a top 20 result. But a few minutes before the end the guide broke and the dream was over. Carbon Hornets Frank Hackländer Michael Kaul Fred Szyra The car showed some potential in the practice session, as well as in the Best of Show competition. Sadly in the race the carbon body broke too easy and this resulted in several stopps for fixing.

Dr. Slot Martin Bartelmes André Bartelmes Michael Ulbrich Daniel Waxweiler Quali and heat 1 were as usual solid and without problems but in the night section they lost a bit performance. They finished on 23th, but sure they will be much stronger, latest in Trier! Nighthawks Bob Clark Matze Herrrero Quali P23, heat 1 P22, heat 2 P22, heat 3 P23... That is consistent but we know they want more! And they propably show up with a complete new car in Mülheim! Slotgear Lars Jacobsen Per Møller Søren Thomsen Quali and Heat 1 were under their expectations but they improved their performance with a 17th place in the night section, which was great. Team chief Lars is already looking forward to Mülheim.

Slotracing Mülheim Thomas Reich Bernd Zeptner Norbert Kelker For team chief Thomas the track was familiar, his teammates had to learn the track in the free practice session. A good 13th quali result showed the performance and the next race will be a home game for them. They will surely fight in the top 10 there. SRCB P&R Pierre Bernard Robert Massart The car was brand new and they were searching for grip. But things were going better and better and they made a 12th place in the 3rd heat which was great. Overall a 19th place for them. Gentlemen Drivers Aly Trausch Marc Trausch Jaques Wrengler The gentlemen had an exiting race with a great fight, defending their 18th place against SRCB but losing the fight for 17th place against RAM Racing with less than halve a round!

RAM Racing Richard Kirchmann Andre Kaczmarek Matthias Kirchmann Great performance in their first race, they also had an exiting race fighting against "Gentlemen Dirvers" and "JoHe". Finally they lost the 16th place in the 3rd heat against "JoHe". JoHe-Racing Hendrik Behrens Johannes Rhode The mid field was extremely close and nobody there had a lonely race. There was always a team close behind and close before, So "JoHe" were able to beat "RAM Racing" but had to abandon 15th place to "Grauzone". Nevertheless a good result and they will for sure be much more competitive in Mülheim. Team Grauzone Carsten Levertz Jürgen Konrad Carsten and Jürgen are not new to the track, but to the "LMP Pro Series". They showed a good potential and stayded calm even as a light issue appeared. Sure good fore more in the next race.

Slot 4000 Didier Awouters Jean-Christophe Job Nearly the same as Sloefspeed the expectations were much higher. But they improved in every heat with a great 9th place in heat 3. They also will be surely more in front in Mülheim. LRD International 2 Gerd Schumacher Heinz-Peter Schumacher LRD 2 showed a good qualification with P3 but after heat 1 it went down the list because of braid problems they were not able to fix. A 10th overall place was the result. SG Stern - Slotfabrik Fola Osu Stefan Kuhn Marcel Kuhn Setup and Speed was good but a penalty of 1 lap for again a too low car in the technical inspection costs the 8th place. Hopefully this can be prevented for Mülheim. Nevertheless a great result!

No Limits Peter Oberbillig Janine Oberbillig Conny Guillaume Janine, the only girl in the starting field put the Lola of her Dad Peter into the fastest group in qualification. The car worked perfectly but the absolute last pint of speed lacked. A good result with the 8th place for father and daughter! LRD International 1 Martijn de Kanter Diet Gerard They did not have the problems LRD 2 fought with. No big technical problems but some driving faults put them 1 lap behind "No respect" and on 7th place. No Respect Roland Moritsch Friedrich Hauk Andreas Balsiger A bit slower than expected in quali they drove into the fastest group in heat 1. A crash in the night section inhibited more as the light had to be repaired. Heat 3 was a great performance with a 3rd place and a 6th overall place. They have seen that hard and ambitious racing can be combined with a familiar and friendly atmosphere.

Jägerteam Ralph Seif Yannick Horn Joachim Welsch The Toyota was a car with winning potential last year in Swisttal. With old body but new tech they were searching for a bit of grip over the whole race. With a 5th place they kept everything open in the championship. Team Hobby 2000 by D&G Cédric Gridelet Didier Ronvaux Gilles Dohogne A little fault with the pinion in the material handout slowed down Gilles in the qualification. The repair break at the beginning of the race costs a few lap but then it only goes forward with a 4th overall place as a good result! Plastikquäler 2 Konstantin Müller Kai-Ole Stracke PQ 2 showed a good race. They drove less risky and were rewarded with a 3rd overall place. A bit luckiliy at the end as the guide was broken on the last lane but still driveable, so they needed no repair time for that.

RLR Peter Juchem Alexander Ortmann Alex won the "Man of Speed" and the qualification but for the triple a bit of luck lacked as several little problems were slowing them down every time they reached for the top. Nevertheless a great weekend and a great result for RLR. Plastikquäler Sebastian Nockemann Marco Wesseling Christian Schnitzler Sebastian built a new, nice body and trusted the tech of last year`s winning car of Trier. No problems, a fast car and skilled drivers can only finish in a victory and so it did. -well deserved There was a Liveticker vie Facebook which can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/lmpproseriesliveticker Many pics are stored in our picasa: https://picasaweb.google.com/101875146379915280378 We want to thank you all for making this such a great event and hope to see you all again -and propably even some new teams- in Mülheim for a great fight in round 2! Kind regards, Joachim, Gerd und Sebastian
