LORIENT PORNICHET April 5 & 6 2014 NOTICE OF RACE Organizer: LORIENT GRAND LARGE With the help of the following yachtclubs from the French Sailing Federation: - The Centre Nautique de Lorient for the departure - The CNBPP for the arrival in Pornichet 1. RULES The regatta will depend on the following rules: 1.1 - The rules defined in the «The racing rules for sailing» Les Règles de Course à la Voile (RCV), 1.2 - The prescriptions of the French national authorities even for foreign participants as described in the Appendix 1.3 - Federation rules 1.4 - Offshore special regulation when they apply, in category 3 1.5 - Classe Mini 2014 rules (the race is «C» category based on Classe Mini criterias) 1.6 The official language is French, in case of translation of this notice of race, French will prevail. 2. ADVERTISING A boat and her crew shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. Boats will have to put on the flags provided by the organizing authorities. 3. ADMISSIBILITY AND REGISTRATION 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats from Classe Mini 6.50 3.2 It is a double-handed regatta. Skippers need to be at least 18 years old the day of the departure and crew must be over 16 and have a signed authorization from their parents. 3.3 The maximum number of boats is 65.
3.4 Registration will start at the beginning of February 2014. If we receive applications before, they will be kept. If the maximum number of boats is reached, the participants will rely on rule R10 from Classe Mini. 3.5 To register for the race, skippers need to fill in the attached registration form and pay the registration fees, 150 VAT excluded (180 with VAT) to Lorient Grand Large, on Monday March 17th at the latest. The fees can be paid by check, cash or by wire (IBAN attached). 3.6 Late registration will be possible until March 24th if you fill in the attached registration forms but the fees will increase by 50%, up to 225 VAT excluded 3.7 Participants (each crew member) who have a FFVoile licence have to give a copy of the following documents when they register: - The license with the medical stamp or with the appropriate medical forms - If necessary, the authorization for advertising - Gauge certificate 3.8 For foreign participants who don t have a FFVoile licence, it is mandatory to bring the following documents: - a paper justifying that they belong to a sailing federation member of ISAF - gauge certificate - a certificate of civil liability with a minimum of 1,5 million euros - a medical certificate stating that you have no physical problems preventing you from sailing - an insurance certificate stating that, in case of wreckage, the company will be in charge of the wreck Registration will be made by chronological order and sent to Lorient Grand Large. When confirming registration in Lorient, skipper and crew will need to give Classe Mini all the documents stated in R-12 of the Classe Mini Guide 2014. It won t be necessary to give them to the race organizer as well. 4. PAYMENT Registration fees are 180 (including VAT) and can be paid by check, cash or wire. For international wires, the additional fees will be added to that price. 5. DOLINK TRACKERS The organizer will give each skipper a tracker. You will need to set it up as explained during the briefing.
Each skipper will be asked a 500 deposit. It will not be charged but given back at the end of the race. It will enable people to follow the race on the website: www.lorientgrandlarge.org 6. LORIENT BSM HARBOR For participants having paid the registration fees, berthing will be free and available in the harbor starting on Saturday March 29 th at 8am until the race departure. If you are in the harbor outside these dates, you will need to pay berthing fees directly to the harbor. The boats will be at the organizers disposal in the harbor from 9am on Wednesday the 2 nd at the latest. 7. PROGRAM 7.1 Registration confirmation: Registration can be confirmed from 9am on April 2 nd 2014. Registration will be complete and official when the paperwork (all documents from R-12 in the Classe Mini Guide 2014) AND the security checks will be finished. No documents will be accepted after 6pm on April 4 th. 7.2 Security Checks: Security checks will start on April 2 nd at 9am until Friday the 4th at 6pm. There won t be any security checks after that time. It is mandatory to have someone representing the boat during the security checks. 7.3 The race will start at 11am on Saturday April 5th 2014. 7.4 Prize giving: it will take place in Pornichet on April 6 th at 6pm. 8. RACE INSTRUCTIONS Race instructions and appendixes will be available from April 2 nd as soon as security checks are done and all the documents have been received by the organizers and Classe Mini 9. ROUTE 9.1 The route will be around 150 miles long and leave from Lorient to arrive in Pornichet. 9.2 The race course is located between Penmarch and les Sables d Olonne 9.3 SHOM maps or equivalent to have on board are: 7139; 7032; 7033; 7068 10. RANKINGS
2 rankings will be made: one for series boats and one for prototypes 11. HAUL OUT No haul out will be authorized from the 2 nd to the 5 th of April without an authorization from the Race Committee. 12. RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in case of emergency, a boat must not receive nor transmit any radio communication that wouldn t be receivable by all the boats racing. 13. PRIZES Prizes will be given to both podiums as well as benefits in kind 14. RESPONSIBILITY, INSURANCE 14.1 The decision to participate in this race and to keep racing is the participant s own responsibility. Consequently, if a participant is racing, the organizer can t be held responsible in the case of damage (human or material) 14.2 Owners, skippers renting the boats or crew are responsible for anything that happens to them, be it damage to the boat or an injury as well as for third parties are concerned. If no third party insurance has been contracted, the organizer can t be held responsible. 15. USE OF RIGHTS When a boat is registered for the Lorient Bretagne Sud Mini it implies that the image of: the skipper, the boat, partners, sponsors, preparateurs and family members who would be on the pontoons in Lorient on land and on the water can be used by the race organizers for promotion purposes with no time restrictions. It is understood that these images will be used in normal conditions with no bad intentions. 16. RRS 67 Any question about or request of damages arising from an incident involving a boat bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing or International Regulation to Prevent Collision at Sea depends on the appropriate courts and will not be dealt by the jury. RRS 70. 5 In such circumstances, the written approval of the Fédération Française de Voile shall be received before publishing the notice of race and shall be posted on the official notice board during the event. RRS 78 The boat s owner or other person in charge shall, under his sole responsibility, make sure moreover that his boat comply with the equipment and security rules required by the laws, by-laws and regulations of the Administration. RRS 86.3 An organizing authority wishing to change a rule listed in RRS 86.1 in order to develop or test new rules shall first submit the changes to the FFVoile, in order to obtain its written approval and shall report the results to FFVoile after the event. Such authorization shall be mentioned in the notice of race and in the sailing instructions and shall be posted on the official notice board during the event. RRS 88
Prescriptions of the FFVoile shall be neither changed nor deleted in the notice of race and sailing instructions, except for events for which an international jury has been appointed. In such case, the prescriptions marked with an asterisk (*) shall be neither changed nor deleted in the notice of race and sailing instructions. (The official translation of the prescriptions, downloadable on the FFVoile website www.ffvoile.fr, shall be the only translation used to comply with RRS 90.2(b)). RRS 91 The appointment of an international jury meeting the requirements of Appendix N is subject to prior written approval of the Fédération Française de Voile. Such notice of approval shall be posted on the official notice board during the event.
