OMHA Pee Wee Recreational Tournament Rules General Tournament Information: We are hosting a tournament that we hope will be fun for all. All games will be played as per BC HOCKEY rules. This includes Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association, Pacific Coast Minor Hockey rules, and any other rules imposed by the host association. Participating teams will be separated into Pools. Each team will play four games against other teams in their pool. The two top points winners from each pool will advance to playoffs. The first place team will play against the second place team for the gold position. The third and fourth place teams will also play face to face for the bronze position. Medals will be awarded to each of the 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, and 4 th place finishers. We look forward to seeing all of the players, parents and friends at our tournament, and hope that everyone enjoys some fast and exciting hockey. Game Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes including: 5-minute Warm-Up and 2-minute hand-shake and awards 1 st period - 15 minute stop time; 2 nd period - 15 minute stop time; 3 rd period - 20 minute stop time. Due to the fact that we must maintain our schedule, the time on the wall clock will dictate when a game ends. Each game will end with two minutes remaining in the designated ice slot, regardless of the time remaining on the game clock. Game Points: 2 points for a win 1 point for a tie 1 point for each period win ½ point per team in the event of a tie 1 point for 10 minutes or less in penalties Maximum of 6 points will be awarded to a team per game Tie Breaking Rules: In the event that two teams in the same Pool are tied in total points, after the completion of the four game round robin, the order of finish will be determined by: 1. Winner of head to head match-up, then (if necessary) 2. Most periods won, then (if necessary) 3. Fewest penalty minutes, then (if necessary) 4. Goal differential (goals for minus goals against between the two teams in the same pool who may be tied for points at the end of the round robin). If a playoff game is tied after regulation play (semi-final games, and the Tournament Championship game), the winner will be determined in a 5 minute, 4 on 4 sudden death period, followed by a 5 player shoot-out (if necessary). If still tied, 5 different players will be chosen and it will be sudden death shootout format.

Uniforms: In the event of a colour conflict, the team designated as the Home team as assigned on the tournament schedule will be required to change jerseys. OMHA has a supply of white jerseys, if required. As per BC Hockey regulations, Stop Signs must be worn by all participants, above the number on the backs of their jerseys. Affiliate Players: As per BC HOCKEY rules, any affiliate players for a Pee Wee House team must come from that Association s Atom House. Rosters must be submitted with the Tournament Application and payment. Sportsmanship and Conduct: Team Officials will be held responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their players and parents on and off the ice, which includes the arena facilities and parking lot areas. Team Officials will ensure their assigned dressing room is left clean after their game. An arena staff attendant will ensure that each dressing room is in presentable condition before and after each game. Please use garbage receptacles. The cost to repair any damages whatsoever caused by Team Officials, Players or parents will be billed to the Team and/or Association found responsible for such damage. If no damage is noted, then damage deposit cheques will be returned. Any player who is assessed 3 penalties in one game will be ejected from that game. If a player is ejected within the last 10 minutes of the game, that player must serve an additional game suspension for their next game. Any player who is assessed a 5-minute Major for fighting shall not be allowed further participation in the tournament. Any Player who is assessed more than one 10 minute Un-Sportsmanlike Conduct penalty shall not be allowed further participation in the tournament. Any Player or Team Official receiving two Game Misconduct penalties shall not be allowed further participation in the Tournament. This shall not include checking from behind misconduct penalties. Team Officials are responsible for ensuring that all Players on their Roster are aware of the rules governing this Tournament. Each team will supply game sheets from 3 consecutive regular played games previous to tournament.

As always, parents, spectators and off-ice supporters are encouraged to use positive feedback to players and avoid open criticisms of play and officiating. All team officials, players and parents must understand and appreciate that our on-ice officials are volunteers. They are BC HOCKEY certified, experienced, skilled and capable. They are, however, only human and may make mistakes. In the spirit of fun and fair play, we are expecting that our officials will be treated with respect. Any abuse of on-ice officials will not be tolerated. NO abuse of any kind for any reason will be tolerated, on or off the ice. Emotions can run high in competitions and despite our best efforts there may be frustrations for visiting players, coaches, and families. If you have a concern (or an accolade), we request that the coach or manager submit a written documentation of the specific issue. These can be dropped off at the raffle table. Tournament Coordinators will make every effort to resolve issues immediately. Decisions made by tournament coordinators are final. Please be advised that all teams are responsible for ensuring that the dressing rooms are left in a clean condition upon departure. The management and staff at Oceanside Place have a strict policy with regards to dressing room clean up, and will levy a financial penalty against any team (not Oceanside Minor Hockey Association) for damaged or unreasonably messy dressing rooms. Please ensure that the players use the garbage receptacles provided. Teams are responsible for the security of their dressing rooms and players should be supervised at all times. A padlock should be brought to secure the dressing room door, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Prizes: Complimentary team refreshments and tournament memento gifts will be offered. For each team at each game, prizes will be awarded to the chosen MVP (Most Valuable Player). The winning players will be chosen for their skill, sportsmanship and game spirit. There will be a raffle table with numerous prizes available. Raffle Prize Draw will take place on March 19, 2012 at Oceanside Place. As well, there will be 50/50 draws at each game. To all Participating Teams: THANK YOU FOR ENTERING THE TOURNAMENT! GOOD LUCK, GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, GOOD FUN!
