In 2015, the Army celebrated 150 years of servicing communities all over the globe, offering hope and dignity to millions of people less fortunate than ourselves. In recent years, the Golf Classic was dedicated to raising $1 million for the rebuild of the ARC (Addictions & Residential Center), s facility in Edmonton, which provides housing, addiction treatment, mental health & counselling services. We reached that goal, and although the rebuild has not yet started, we have not stopped planning. After successfully reaching this goal, last year s Golf Classic was dedicated to raising $200,000 to purchase a new Community Response Unit (CRU) to serve Edmonton and Northern Alberta during times of disaster, like the Slave Lake and Fort McMurray fires, as well as providing local support for street ministry programs, helping to provide for first responders, the homeless, and many other community programs. Over the course of the next two years, the Golf committee is pleased to support the Pine Lake Camp. Kids are at the heart of s camping ministry. Through their camps, they are able to provide a safe, non-competitive, non-judgemental place for children of all ages and from all walks of life, to explore nature, learn new skills, and develop a strong sense of self-worth. Funds raised will help to allow for much-needed upgrades to the water system, enhance existing programs and add great new programming. Our support will also allow for necessary upgrades and enhancements to existing facilities in order to allow the camp to become a top-notch conference and camping facility, creating the needed funding from rentals for it to be self-sufficient. By upgrading these facilities and adding new programs, Pine Lake Camp can offer the best possible options to the young people who attend their camps, and introduce relevant and practical options that they can add to their list of experiences. Understanding the current economic situation, Sally and I encourage you, once again, to support through our golf tournament.
