During her tenure, she has led the Pride to four appearances in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Semifinals and last year she guided Hofstra to a regular season CAA title and a spot in the CAA Championship Game. Klaes- Bawcombe is assisted on the Hofstra sidelines by Abby Morgan. Longest Tenured Coaches in CAA WLAX: Hofstra Head Coach Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe ranks fourth in the CAA in longest tenure at their current institution. Sue Stahl (Old Dominion) 16th season Amy Umbach (George Mason) ninth season Tara Brown (William & Mary) sixth season Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe (Hofstra) fifth season Kellie Young (James Madison) fifth season Anna Marie Vesco (Drexel) fourth season Melissa Holmes (Towson) third season Kim Ciarrocca (Delaware) second season

Streaks and Trends: Hofstra has won eight straight games and 11 of its last 13 games since an 0-4 start to the season. Hofstra s current eight-game win streak is the secondlongest current streak in the nation and is tied for the second-longest in program history. Hofstra s current seven-game home field win streak is tied for the third-longest in school history. #6 Boston University, whom the Pride defeated 11-8 on March 15, is the highest ranked opponent that the Hofstra Women s Lacrosse team has ever defeated. With four ranked victories already this season, it marks the second straight season Hofstra has had at least four ranked wins. In 2005, the Pride defeated six ranked teams. Hofstra has won 21 of its last 29 games dating back to last season and 27 of its last 37 going back to the 2004 campaign. Four of the 10 losses were by one-goal. Since the season-opening four-game losing skid, Hofstra has amassed an 11-2 record and is outscoring its opponents, 170-128. The combined 25 wins in the last two seasons is tied for the second-most in back-to-back seasons in Hofstra Lacrosse history (2000 11 wins, 2001 16 wins). With 11 wins in 2006, Hofstra has now won at least eight games in seven straight seasons. This season is the fifth time in school history that Hofstra has amassed 10 or more wins (since 1976). Hofstra s 14 wins in 2005 ranks second all-time in school history, only eclipsed by the 2001 squad that went 16-3 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the only time in school history. The Pride is 12-3 in its last 15 overtime contests, having won two straight extra session games and four of their last five overtimes games. Road Win: Hofstra picked up its first road win this season and first since April 8, 2005 (9-8 2OT over ODU) when they defeated Towson, 15-9 on April 9 of this season. Draw Control Specialist: Freshman midfielder Lauren Whitcomb has become Hofstra s draw control specialist in the absence of senior midfielder Becky Thorn. In wins over Massachusetts and Loyola (MD), Whitcomb totaled nine of her 19 draw controls this season. Against #20 Loyola (MD) on March 26, Whitcomb tied a Pride season-high with seven draw controls to help lead Hofstra to the record-setting offensive performance. In addition, after being held scoreless in Hofstra s season opener vs. #1 Northwestern, Whitcomb has tallied at least one point in 14 of the 16 games since. Defender U: Much like Penn State is known as Linebacker U for their ability to produce great linebackers, the Hofstra Women s Lacrosse team is beginning a trend of all-around great defenders. After the program s first-ever first team All- American, Bridget Eder, graduated last spring, senior defender Jaime Irving has stepped right into the top defender role and shined. Irving leads Hofstra in ground balls (44), caused turnovers (28) and is second in draw controls (33). Record-Setting Day: The 20 goals scored by the Pride in their 20-13 win over #20 Loyola (MD) on March 26 were the most goals scored in a contest by Hofstra since March 25, 2000 when the Pride defeated Holy Cross, 20-10. The last time Hofstra notched more than 20 goals in a game came in the 1996 season opener against Davidson, a 23-5 Pride victory. Timely Manner: Junior attack Kimberly Hillier s goal to open the Loyola (MD) game tied an NCAA record for quickest goal to start a game. Her tally at the 29:52 mark of the first half tied the record originally established by Heather Goehringer of Virginia in their game against James Madison on April 13, 1994. Combined Output: The 33 combined goals in the Hofstra/Loyola (MD) game on March 26 tied the school record for most goals in a game by both teams. The record was not established that long ago, though, as last year s Colonial Athletic Association Championship between Hofstra and Towson set the mark as the Tigers won 18-15 to advance to the NCAA Championship. Double Your Pleasure: Junior midfielder Casey McGrath, who finished third on the squad in goals (28) and points (38) last season, had quite an outing against #20 Loyola (MD) on March 26. McGrath posted a game-high six goals in the contest to double her season total to 12 goals at the time. She currently leads the team in goals with 47 after netting a pair of goals vs. William & Mary in the CAA semifinal contest. Tewaaraton Watch List: Hofstra University junior attack Kimberly Hillier was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Preseason Watch List, the organization announced on February 23. The Women's Selection Committee has named their preseason "watch list". The players on this list were nominated by coaches across all three divisions and are early season hopefuls for the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy. Hillier was one of only two CAA players, Shannon Witzel being the other, named to the initial watch list. Hillier Named CAA Player of the Week: Hofstra University junior attack Kimberly Hillier was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week on March 27 after leading Hofstra to a pair of conference wins. Trailing 6-4 at half, Hillier almost single-handedly brought Hofstra the victory as she scored three straight in the opening minutes of the second half to turn a 6-5 deficit into an 8-6 advantage and Hofstra would never trail again. Hillier would shine again on Sunday as she produced four goals and two assists for a game-high tying six points in the Pride's 20-13 win over #20 Loyola. She added four draw controls and two caused turnovers in the contest as Hofstra scored its most goals since the 2000 season. In the two games, Hillier had nine goals and two assists for 11 points, all team-highs. She also chipped in with six draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Hillier had a huge week for Hofstra as she totaled 11 points in the Pride's two games to help extend Hofstra's current win streak to a season-high four games. In Hofstra's key 10-8 over #13 William & Mary, Hillier chipped in with two goals and one assist for a three-point day, while also adding in three ground balls and a draw control. For the week, Hillier had 11 points on six goals and five assists, while adding three ground balls and three draw controls. McGrath Garners CAA POTW Honors: Hofstra University junior midfielder Casey McGrath was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week, it was announced on April 24 by the conference office. The player of the week award was Hofstra's third this season as junior attacker Kimberly Hillier (Farmingdale, NY) previously earned the accolade on two seperate occasions. Earlier on April 24, McGrath also garnered Newsday Female Athlete of the Week honors. McGrath led the way this week for Hofstra, which extended its win streak to six games with a pair of victories. On Friday at Drexel, McGrath almost single-handedly willed Hofstra to the 14-13 overtime win as she totaled a career and Hofstra individual season-high eight goals.
