It will mark the opening game for both squads in 2011 as each team fi nished with matching 10-6 records a year ago. The contest marks the second-consecutive preseason that the Chiefs have played the Buccaneers. Arrowhead Stadium once again proved to be friendly to the Chiefs in 2010. Kansas City fi nished with a 7-1 regular season mark at Arrowhead Stadium, marking the sixth time the team has finished 7-1 or better at the facility. The 2010 season marked a turning point for the Chiefs franchise as Head Coach Todd Haley s squad turned in a 10-6 record after a 4-12 performance in 2009. It marked the best single-season turnaround in franchise history. The Chiefs won the AFC West Championship and earned a home playoff game for the fi rst time since 2003. Kansas City ranked in the NFL s top 10 in 10 different categories at the end of the 2010 season. The Chiefs won the league s rushing title, registering 2,627 rushing yards. At home in 2010, the Chiefs gained a league-high 1,463 rushing yards, the third-highest mark in franchise annals. The Chiefs fi nished 11th in the NFL a year ago, allowing 326 total points. Kansas City only allowed its opponents to score on 28.1% of their offensive drives, the seventh-lowest mark in the NFL. CB Brandon Flowers, LB Derrick Johnson and S Eric Berry each returned an interception for a touchdown, the fi rst time the club returned three interceptions for scores since 2003. QB Matt Cassel begins his third season at the helm of the offense after garnering a Pro Bowl invite a year ago. RB Jamaal Charles fi nished second in the NFL in 2010 with 1,467 rushing yards to earn his fi rst Pro Bowl invite. WR Dwayne Bowe caught a league-high 15 TDs and was elected to his initial Pro Bowl. On defense, Johnson paced the club with a career-high 147 tackles. The Chiefs will end the St. Joseph, Mo. portion of their training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 17 before resuming camp in Kansas City on Sunday, Aug. 21. Kansas City plays its second preseason game at Baltimore on Friday, Aug. 19. The Bucs won the last meeting by a 20-15 count at Tampa Bay (8/21/10), while the Chiefs claimed a 17-13 decision in a game played at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. (8/8/98). VS. CHIEFS HEAD COACH - TODD HALEY Todd Haley was named the 11th head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 6, 2009 and begins his third year leading the Chiefs. Haley enters his 17th season in the NFL in 2011 and his 15th season as an NFL coach after beginning his career as a scouting asst. with the N.Y. Jets in 95. Haley joined the Chiefs after a two-year stint as Arizona s offensive coordinator (2007-08), helping the Cardinals reach Super Bowl XLIII as the club won its first division title since 75. Under Haley s direction, the Cardinals ranked third in the league in scoring as Arizona registered a franchise-record 427 points in 2008. The Cardinals also threw a team-record 32 TD passes in 2007. Haley has made playoff appearances with five different NFL teams. He served as passing game coordinator/wrs coach under Bill Parcells with Dallas (2004-06) after beginning his career under Parcells with the N.Y. Jets ( 97-00). He also served as WRs coach with Chicago (2001-03). Born on Feb. 28, 1967, Haley grew up in Upper St. Clair, Pa. He is the son of long-time NFL personnel executive Dick Haley, who helped build the Steelers Super Bowl teams of the 70s. He enters his third season in that role in 2011 and his ninth overall NFL campaign. Morris led the Buccaneers to a 10-6 record in 2010. Morris rejoined Tampa Bay as defensive backs coach (2007-08) after serving as the defensive coordinator at Kansas State in 2006. He led a Wildcats defense that saw seven players earn conference honors, including two first-team accolades. He previously served as defensive backs coach (2004-05) and as a defensive assistant (2003) for Tampa Bay. He originally joined the club as a defensive quality control coach in 2002, helping the Buccaneers to a 48-21 win in Super Bowl XXXVII vs. Oakland (1/26/03). During his six seasons on the defensive staff in Tampa Bay, the Bucs ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in total defense every year. Morris served an NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship with the N.Y. Jets in 2001. He coached collegiately at his alma mater of Hofstra ( 98, 2000-01) and Cornell ( 99). Born on Sept. 3, 1976, Morris grew up in Irvington, N.J. He played safety at Hofstra from 94-97 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. Morris was presented the key to the city in his hometown during Raheem Morris Day on June 5, 2009.
