A unique gameday brought to you by Pepsi. JASON GARRETT (24-24 3rd Year, 29-27 overall) Jason Garrett was named the eighth head coach in Dallas Cowboys history on January 5, 2011. Garrett became the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team s head coach. As a backup quarterback during his playing career in Dallas, he started nine-of-23 games played and was a member of teams that won six division titles and three Super Bowl championships. Garrett was elevated to the Cowboys top job after taking over as the team s interim head coach at the midway through 2010. He guided the club to a 5-3 mark to finish the season after the team started 1-7. During his time as the interim head coach, three of Dallas wins were against teams that posted a 10-win season, while the three losses were decided by a combined total of seven points. He led Dallas to an 8-8 record, narrowly missing the playoffs and an NFC East Division title in his first three full seasons as head coach (2011, 2012 and 2013). Since the 2007 season, Garrett has been the Cowboys offensive coordinator, and in 2008, he was assigned the additional duties of being the club s assistant head coach. Under Garrett, the Dallas offense has reached high levels of productivity in several categories, and the unit has finished among the NFL s top-10 in total offense five times: 2013 (10th), 2012 (sixth), 2010 (10th), 2009 (2nd), and 2007 (2nd). Garrett returned to Dallas in 2007 as the offensive coordinator. He entered the coaching profession as the quarterbacks coach for two seasons (2005-06) for Nick Saban s first Miami Dolphins club. After claiming a win in the previous two openers, Dallas will look to make it three consecutive opening wins for the second time in the last eight years, matching the 2007-09 streak. Dallas enters 2014 with the league s best all-time opening-day win percentage (.676), ahead of Denver (.642), Chicago (.607), Houston (.583) and the N.y. Giants (.583). Dallas 36 opening-day wins are ninth all-time in league history. Dallas won 17 consecutive season-opening games from 1965-1981. That streak is the longest opening day win streak in the history of the NFL. HEAD COACHES 2 JIM HARBAUGH (41-14-1, 4th Year) Jim Harbaugh was named the 17th head coach in 49ers history on Jan. 7, 2011. In just three seasons, Harbaugh has tallied a 41-14-1 overall record (5-3 in the postseason), won two NFC West Division titles and one NFC Championship. He followed a 14-4 rookie campaign, which earned him Associated Press 2011 NFL Coach of the year honors, with a 13-5-1 mark in 2012 and a 14-5 record in 2013. Harbaugh is just the second NFL coach to win consecutive division titles in his first two seasons after inheriting a team with a losing record. His 36 regular season wins are the second-most by any coach in NFL history over their first three seasons. Harbaugh logged 18 years of coaching experience prior to joining the 49ers. He was previously the head coach at Stanford (2007-2010), where he led the Cardinal to its first BCS game appearance and victory in the Orange Bowl, in 2010. He was head coach at the University of San Diego (2004-06). Harbaugh started in the NFL as an offensive assistant with the Oakland Raiders (2002-03).
