KAREN BROWN PRESS KIT AUTHOR SPEAKER WORLD CLASS ATHLETE PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT COACH
KAREN S BIO My story is one of triumph over continuous challenge, and overwhelming odds. I was just an ordinary person, that felt I had something bigger inside. Something extraordinary. And that I wasn t tapping into it. I was playing it safe, staying in my cozy comfort zone. Until I thought of my lifelong dream of competing in the Ironman World Championships, in Kona, HI. I had seen television coverage of the event in 1982, during Julie Moss heroic finish. And I was completely mesmerized and hooked. I thought about that for 28 years and every time, talked myself out of pursuing it with limiting beliefs Well, I couldn t do that. They are elite athletes and I m a recreational athlete. They are up there and I m down here. But I still felt that longing, tugging inside me and knew I was capable of so much more. In 2010, I took a class and learned how to break through limiting beliefs and in September of that year, I decided to pursue my life long dream of the Ironman. First thing I did was hire a coach, which was new for me. I figured it this way; I wanted to do something I had never achieved, so I would need to do something different than I had ever done. The accountability of working with a coach who helped me laser focus on my goal was phenomenal! Not only did my coaches teach me what I needed to know, they helped with mindset, beliefs and activities to achieve my big dream. The road to Kona was filled with internal and external opposition, continuous challenge, an amazing journey, failing forward and ultimately, the biggest victory in my life. Through that journey, I discovered my divine potential and purpose in life, expanding every part of it. This became my new platform to achieve bigger goals and dreams... becoming an author and national speaker, founding a coaching company to help others connect with and realize their potential, and becoming an international ultra athlete. What is your potential?

At every level of achievement, we want that next thing, that bigger accomplishment that will help us make our mark and give life greater meaning to reveal our God-given gifts and talents to fulfill our True, or Divine Potential. I discovered mine by competing in, and completing, the most difficult triathlon in the world: the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Many people give up on their dream because it s too hard to leave the status quo of their comfort zone. But you re different. You have the potential inside you and just need someone to show you the way. It takes physical and mental preparation to reveal the best in us. Read my story to find out how to eliminate negative self-talk and overcome obstacles by turning them into steps to success. Spark your dreams, desires and awaken your true potential as you follow my Journey to Kona. WHAT S YOUR KONA? This book is all about perseverance and gratitude. It inspires you to push yourself beyond what you think your limits are, not let life or other people determine what you can achieve and it reminds you to be grateful for everything in your life. Read it, read it and read it again. -- Karen Morrow
Karen s story is a fascinating behind-thescenes look at what it takes to go from an idea, to a goal, to accomplishment. One reason I found this book to be such a compelling read is that I m at the opposite extreme of athleticism from Karen, and it gave me a very clear insider s look into the world of triathlon, and what drives people to compete for hours on end in such grueling conditions. The other reason, and the main one, is that I m drawn to people who set their mind to do something, and pull out all the stops to make it so. Karen truly does that in going for her lifelong dream, and shares some great insights she learned along the way. I especially liked her explanation of flow and how to find it in my own life. -- Barbara Bailey I bought this book because I was interested in reading about a person s journey toward reaching their potential and dreams. I felt like it would really help me, in life, to see into another persons struggles, victories, and steps taken toward fulfilling their purpose. Karen poured emotion, revealing personal information into the text that drew me into reading more and more. The most interesting aspects for me, were the reflection and the lessons learned looking back after she reached one achievement after another. Those parts spoke to me and my journey through life. Loved it! -- Randy Wilinski I have no interest in athletics or Ironman. Instead I was drawn to this book to discover how one person realized and fulfilled their dreams and maybe glimpse insight into my own dreams. I was surprised at how interested I became in the Ironman culture and the trials and tribulations of training and competing. I couldn t put the book down! Karen s insights into thought processes and what holds us back were enlightening and her story inspiring. Anyone would enjoy this book and gain insight from it. Well worth the read! -- Heather A Kokx
