ArcelorMittal Orbit A SCULPTURE WITH A VIEW This shimmering red steel tower gives visitors breathtaking views over the landmark 2012 sporting venues with a new and unique view of London. Zoom up in the lift and ascend 80 metres to the top of Britain s tallest sculpture. Here you ll be greeted by a show-stopping panorama of London at its very best. Play a spot of I spy with the view that stretches 20 miles and identify the iconic buildings that dot our skyline: The Shard, The Gherkin, Big Ben, Canary Wharf and The O2 Arena to name a few. Britain s largest piece of public art is yours to enjoy. The distinctive looping red steel tower stands 114.5 metres high and inside the venue you can enjoy more delights from Turner-prize winning designer, Sir Anish Kapoor. Turn the horizon on its head with the concave mirrors and interpret the view up close using our interactive screens and gigapixel technology you have to see it to believe it! Challenge your friends and family to descend the 455 steps to the ground, immersed along the way in a collection of distinctive city sounds from across London, or take the easier journey downwards by lift, if you prefer. Top it all off with a visit to East Twenty Bar and Kitchen at the base of the shimmering red tower where a mouth-watering menu of tasty snacks, light lunches and hearty meals are on offer. Lee Valley VeloPark TWO- WHEELED THRILLS Welcome to the only place in the world where you can try all four Olympic forms of cycling: track, BMX, road and mountain. Catering for all skill levels from beginners through to elite, anyone can cycle at Lee Valley VeloPark. You don t even need a bike you can hire everything you need so there s nothing stopping you from experiencing the fun of two wheels! Sessions start from 6 for adults and 4 for children. Try out an introduction to track cycling with a one hour taster session, or if you re already familiar with the velodrome track, why not go through the four-stage accreditation course? Alternatively, experience an adrenalin rush on the remodelled Olympic BMX track, with over 30 bumps, jumps and berms that s an angled corner if you don t know the lingo. The floodlit one-mile road circuit is perfect for getting back on your bike if it s been a while. Or if you prefer to go off-road, there are 8km of traffic-free mountain bike trails on offer. Whether you want to try out the activities or just grab a coffee in the cafe overlooking the velodrome, everyone is welcome to explore this iconic venue. Copper Box Arena WATCH AND PLAY Come and join the action at the Copper Box Arena, a world-class sporting venue for the whole community. Come and see why the Copper Box Arena is known as the box that rocks. It s the third largest arena in London and the residence of the London Lions basketball team. During London 2012, it hosted handball, modern pentathlon, fencing and goalball. You can take an exercise class in one of the state-of-the-art studios or burn some calories in the gym. Why not take the opportunity to try a whole new sport altogether? The multi-purpose sports hall is perfect for badminton, basketball, handball, netball and volleyball. If you prefer taking a backseat and watching from the stalls, you can see the world s best international sportspeople compete throughout the year. But if sport isn t your bag, then sing along to your favourite bands in concert, take a tour of the venue or just meet friends to hang out for a coffee. The Copper Box Arena offers an exciting programme for the whole community and is operated by charitable social enterprise, Better. London Aquatics Centre MAKE A SPLASH Dive right in at the London Aquatics Centre with three pools to choose from and 10 million litres of water! Whether you re a confident swimmer or still using armbands, you ll be in good company at the country s best aquatics centre. With springboards, diving pools, a gym, café and affordable membership for all jump in at the deep end! Here, you could be swimming in the same lane as Olympic and Paralympic champions and all for the same price as your local leisure centre! You can also work out in the 50-station gym overlooking the pool. Whether you re training for a swimming badge or competition, want to learn to dive like a professional or try aqua-aerobics, making use of the outstanding facilities is an essential experience for anyone visiting or living in London. The centre has competitive rates and offers a range of activities. There are changing areas, a crèche and a cafe to chill out in after your swim. Or, if getting wet isn t for you, just come along and soak up the atmosphere at one of the many national and international sporting events that are held throughout the year. LEE VALLEY HOCKEY & TENNIS Two great sports at one world class venue. Come and serve your first ace, or improve your hockey skills. Watch world champions in action or learn for the first time yourself. GAME SET MATCH Two popular sports have been served up for you to enjoy at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. From first-timers to competition winners, everyone s welcome to use the state-of-the-art facilities. Book a pitch or court to use with friends and family or why not get involved with an organised group session? The centre offers a wide range of programmes in both sports from kids holiday camps to weekly adult sessions, activities for the over 40s and a range of disability sports. For budding tennis pros, there are six floodlit outdoor courts and four indoors so you can play all year round, while hockey players will love the Union Jack fringed pitches- perfect for getting in the Olympic spirit! Or if you re more of a spectator, there s plenty to see at this world class sporting venue. Come along and watch the world s best players in action during tournaments such as the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters, each November between 2014 and 2016, and the upcoming EuroHockey Championships in August 2015. Timber Lodge Café TIME OUT AT THE TIMBER LODGE Catch up with old friends over a drink and a bite to eat as the kids explore the exciting Tumbling Bay playground. Take some time out and unwind in the stunning north side of the Park. The fully-accessible cafe and events space at Timber Lodge is just the spot to relax within a beautifully-landscaped setting. From seasonal boxed salads to go or slow-paced fine-dining, all tastes and prices are catered for. Run by social enterprise Unity Kitchen, the cafe employs and trains people with disabilities to help them pursue a catering career. Profits are reinvested, so you ll feel good spending time here, in more ways than one. The outdoor terrace is an ideal spot to sit and enjoy views across the Park, or why not join in one of the regular fitness sessions or community events held in the cafe s modern events space?
