Ontario ParaSport Championships November 14-15 2015 CONGRATULATIONS! You are now a competitor at the 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championships which will be a mini games event in Ottawa featuring 4 sports of: Goalball, Boccia, Wheelchair Curling and Visual Impaired Curling. The games take place from Saturday November 14 th to Sunday November 15 th, 2015. The responsibility for this championship falls to ParaSport Ontario whose mission is to support the development and promotion of the Paralympic movement in Ontario. These Championships provide an interim competitive opportunity while the games are re-organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Competitor s Guide - 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championships - Curling 5 COMPETITION FORMAT: The competition for the 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championship (Curling) will involve a 4 team round robin format. Games are 8 ends in length. Teams listed first will practice first and will throw top of scoreboard colour (red). 2 one minute timeouts are allowed. In the event of a tie, play will be continuous and a full end will be played. Each team shall receive a single timeout. Skill based competition will determine hammer. The draw to the button shall be played towards the glass and it shall involve a different team member each game; ie: 3 athletes for the round robin. The skip of the team that is losing may concede the game at any time. TEAM RANKING & TIEBREAKERS: Team ranking will be based on win/loss round robin record. Teams tied after the completion of the event will have their position in the standings decided as follows: 1 st : Ranked by Head to Head game results. 2 nd : Ranked by the least accumulated distance of 3 draws to the button for last stone in the first end. The Head Official will make all final decisions with regard to the administration of playoffs. Finals: The fourth (4 th ) place team will play the (3 rd ) place team for 3 rd place standing. The second (2 nd ) place team will play the first (1 st ) place team for the ParaSport Championship. Medals will be awarded only to the winner of the Championship game.
Competitor s Guide - 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championships - Curling 6 MEDIA RELATIONS: The media may be represented at the 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championships. We ask that you co-operate with the media by granting interviews and answering questions when requested. However, a word of caution is offered make certain that you do not make reference to anything that you do not want quoted. Also, if you have any problems or complaints, express them to the appropriate official and not to the news media. Remember, there is no such thing as an off the record comment. TEAM MEETING: Two representatives (Coach and 1 player) from each team shall attend this meeting with the Head Official and Event Coordinator/Staff designate before play begins. At this time any questions your team may have on the draw, officiating or rule interpretations will be discussed. This meeting will take place at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday November 14, 2015 at the RA Centre. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: A copy of the schedule is attached to this Competitor s Guide for your reference. Any amendments to the schedule will be communicated during the team meeting.
Competitor s Guide - 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championships - Curling 7 RULES AND REGULATIONS General: The 2015 Ontario ParaSport Championship is considered a premier event in Ontario. Curling is based on a code of ethics, good sportsmanship and personal integrity. Display of emotion, broom banging, etc., which results in damage to any area or part of the playing surface, players dressing rooms or any other area of the club complex or hotel will result in suspension for one game. Subsequent infractions will result in suspension for the remainder of the championship. You are expected to follow this tradition and the rules of the game throughout the competition. 1. Event Coordinator or Staff designate: Susanne Martin is responsible for all aspects of the championship that apply to game operations, including officials, ice, rocks, etc. 2. Head Official: (a) Head Official The Head Official, Gord Stockdale, is responsible for rule enforcement and interpretation in all areas covered by the CCA Rules of Curling for Officiated Play, Board of Directors policy or precedent. His decision will be final. In an emergency situation, the Head Official may have to act immediately in areas outside of rules, policy or precedent. In these situations, the Head Official is the final authority. Penalties, Rule Enforcement & Disciplinary Measures & Appeals shall be followed as published on Ontario Curling Council web site / Policies / Code of Conduct.
