Knoxville, IA Danny Lasoski made it look easy as he swept to a convincing win at the 41 st season opener at the Knoxville Raceway Saturday night. Lasoski, who now pilots the Gil Sonner owned, Casey s General Stores Maxim, repeated his Knoxville opening win on one year ago, and led all but one lap in the process. The win paid the 5-time Knoxville track champion $2,500 for his 45 th feature event win here. He additionally captured his qualifying heat as well as turned in the fastest time trial. A five-car pileup on the backchute at the beginning of the race, sent three cars to the sidelines early. Danny Young led the initial circuit of the ten-mile event until Lasoski made a pass for the lead at the start-finish line on the next go-around. The Missouri native was then never seriously challenged to the checkereds. Young fell from the race just after half-way point. Australian Skip Jackson came from a fifth row starting position to claim the runner-up position just prior to Young s exit. He was chased to the finish by fellow Aussie turned Knoxville resident, Jaymie Moyle. Craig Dollansky took passing honors from a 9 th row start to place fourth and Ryan Jamison finished fifth. Dennis Moore Jr., Chad Mellenberndt, Kenny Hansen, Jeff Shepard and Tony Moro rounded out the top ten finishers. In the companion 360 c.i. sprint feature, Duane Van Heukelom claimed his initial feature event in a near photo finish. The estimated crowd of 7,500 stood to watch as Jeff Haines roared out of the fourth turn on the final lap to chase Van Heukelom down the stretch. The surge fell short by half a car length. Steve Breazeale was third, Lee Nelson took fourth, and Dwight Snodgrass finished fifth. A total of 71 sprinters from nine states and Australia competed in both classes during the evening. 410 Results Time Trials (Qualifying Order): 1. 47, Danny Lasoski, Dover, MO (1) 15.861; 2. 1BK, Don Droud Jr., Lincoln, NE (25) 16.316; 3. 0, Randy Smith, Mount Ayr, IA (10) 16.339; 4. 55, Jerry Richert Jr., Forest Lake, MN (18) 16.347; 5. 5, Jeff Shepard, Upperco, MD (29) 16.351; 6. 39, Bob White, West Des Moines, IA (23) 16.381; 7. Van Heukelom 1-15. 4/29/94 Blaney Tops WoO Spring Opener Prelim by Bob Wilson Knoxville, IA Dave Blaney, driving the Casey Luna Vivarin J&J sprint car, captured the World of Outlaws Spring Opener at Knoxville Raceway Friday night. The 20-lap feature event saw two caution flags, as Joe Gaerte led from the pole position through lap four. He and Blaney drove the historic Knoxville half-mile oval at a furious pace in a side by side fashion, with Gaerte taking the pole and Blaney up high on the cushion. Blaney s line proved to be the fastest, as he stormed by the flagstand in the lead at the completion of the fifth circuit. In the meantime, Steve Kinser had come into contention after transferring from the B Main into a fourth row starting position. Kinser too had found the high groove to his liking as well as did Knoxville track titlist Danny Lasoski who was running fourth. Blaney entered lap traffic at the five-mile point and managed to pick off the backmarkers with ease. Gaerte stayed low and he too hit the traffic at opportune times and stayed within striking distance of the front-running Blaney. Kinser and Lasoski each drove on the cushion but seemed unable to make a dent in the gap which separated them from the top two cars. Sammy Swindell had also come into contention and trailed Lasoski at a short distance. On lap fifteen, Lasoski shot into turn one, jumped the cushion and coasted to a halt in turn two, his motor having expired. From that point on, it became a trophy dash to finish the final five laps of the race. Blaney held his position on the restart to gain his seventh career feature event on Knoxville soil and claim $4,000 for the win during a night of frigid temperatures. Kinser passed on the white flag lap to take the runner-up spot and the persistent Gaerte claimed third to take his best finish to date at this track. Swindell finished a strong fourth, while Greg Hodnett took fifth. Jeff Swindell, Jac Haudenschild, Andy Hillenburg, Skip Jackson and Jeff Shepard completed the top ten finishers. Heat race events were won by Sammy Swindell, Haudenschild, Kenny Jacobs and Johnny Herrera. Kinser, who set fast time among the 53 competitors, won the B main and Bob Weuve took the C main. Gaerte captured the dash. The event has been rescheduled for June 18. Same tickets may be used at that time or may be sent to the track office for a refund. A wet snow began falling early in the morning hours and began accumulating to over an inch in the thirty degree temperatures. According to historical sources, the last time snow fell on this date in central Iowa was in 1950. It is the first time races have been snow-cancelled at this facility. 5/7/94 Herrera is New Knoxville Kingpin by Bob Wilson Knoxville, IA Johnny Herrera scored an exciting win at Knoxville Raceway Saturday night as he guided the Guy Forbrook Jackpot Junction Casino American Challenge to a 20-lap feature event win. Herrera, who had just come on board the Forbrook sprinter after a string of drivers had failed to take the car into a consistent front running position, began the feature race on the front row. Pole-sitter Brent Antill took the point position at the start, but a caution on the third circuit regrouped the cars and Herrera was able to get by the Antill car on the restart. Herrera found the low side of the half-mile oval to his liking and began to slowly pull away from the field. Lap six saw Danny Lasoski also pass Antill for the runner-up position and by the halfway point he trailed Herrera by twenty yards, but was unable to gain ground in lapped traffic. A yellow flag on lap thirteen again bunched the cars and when the race resumed, Herrera found the bottom again and Lasoski tried the top. As the laps counted down, the margin between the top two cars began to grow and in the end Lasoski also dropped to the low side of the track in order to keep pace with the Herrera machine. At the finish, Herrera had built a comfortable margin to take the checkered flag in his first time behind the wheel of the Forbrook sprinter. The win paid the New Mexican driver $2,500. Lasoski, Forbrook s driver during the 1993 campaign, finished second and received $2,000 for his efforts. Fast qualifier Jerry Richert Jr. drove a steady race to finish third. Antill faded to fourth and Danny Smith claimed the fifth spot. Dennis Moore Jr., Ryan Jamison from a 20 th spot, Brooke Tatnell, Chad Mellenberndt and Leonard Lee formed the top ten finishers. www.knoxvilleraceway.com Page 6 of 64

1993 track champion Danny Young took a fifth lap lead and went on to capture the 360 c.i. sprint feature. It was career win number eight in the limited sprint class for Young. Visitor George Austin III was second, Scott Whitworth finished third and Dwight Snodgrass came across the line for fourth in the chilly temperatures. 410 Results Time Trials (Qualifying Order): 1. 55, Jerry Richert Jr., Forest Lake, MN (10) 15.899; 2. 45, Ray Lipsey, Lincoln, NE (32) 15.956; 3. 1K, Craig Dollansky, Elk River, MN (8) 16.089; 4. 47, Danny Lasoski, Dover, MO (17) 16.116; 5. 0, Randy Smith, Mount Ayr, IA (7) 16.171; 6. 26, Rich Brahmer, Wisner, NE (12) 16.181; 7. 5, Johnny Herrera, Albuquerque, NM (13) 16.187; 8. 51J, Ryan Jamison, Burlington, IA (19) 16.191; 9. 12, Skip Jackson, Sydney, NSW, Aust. Lasoski, 5-time and defending track champion, began the event in the fourth row and quickly chased down pole-sitter Jaymie Moyle. Lap three saw a yellow flag fly and on the ensuing restart, Lasoski made a flying pass of Moyle out of turn four to take the lead. A second caution flag came out at the five-mile mark as Lasoski enjoyed a huge lead over Moyle. On the restart, Lasoski roared away from the field and 1993 Knoxville 360 c.i. sprint champion Danny Young passed Moyle for the runner-up position. At the checkered flags, Lasoski had forged a half-lap lead on the field to claim the $2,500 first place prize. The win marked three feature wins in three nights as the Show Me State driver also claimed victories in the Illinois Speedweek. Young finished second and Johnny Herrera, who started beside Lasoski in the race, took third. Moyle maintained a fourth place finish and Craig Dollansky was fifth. Skip Jackson, Randy Smith, Marlon Jones, Leonard Lee, and Ryan Jamison rounded out the top ten finishers. In the 360 c.i. sprint feature, Randy Martin realized a long-time dream as he captured his initial main event at Knoxville. The race marked the halfway point in the Skoal Bandit Racing Kum & Go 360 Limited Sprints points series. Jeff Haines was second, rookie Bruce Williams took third, Steve Breazeale place fourth and Steve Wares finished fifth. Williams 1-7, Martin 8-15. 5/28/94 Lasoski is Hot in Midwest Sprint Action by Bob Wilson Knoxville, IA Danny Lasoski continued his winning ways at the Marion County Fairgrounds as he was victorious in the 20-lap feature event at Knoxville Raceway Saturday night. The win was the third of the season on Knoxville soil, as the Missouri driver captured Illinois Speedweek, two Knoxville features and a 360 sprint main all in a matter of ten days. The defending track champion began the event in the sixth row, and quickly moved the Gil Sonner prepared sprinter into contention at the start of the ten-mile race. Craig Dollansky took the point position on the second lap, and Lasoski put the Casey s General Stores sprinter behind him three laps later. As the two front-running cars flew past the flagstand at the end of lap nine, Lasoski dove to the low side going into turn one and took the lead. Dollansky stayed close for a circuit, but was no match for the Lasoski Maxim which seemed able to run anywhere on the half-mile oval. Lasoski had forged a half-lap lead on the field at the checkered flags to win the non-stop race, which was just ten seconds off the track record. The win was worth $2,500 to the five-time track champion. Dollansky maintained his position to finish second, Johnny Herrera took third, Jerry Richert Jr. place fourth and John Kearney was fifth. Danny Young, Jaymie Moyle, Terry McCarl, Jeff Tuttle and Skip Jackson from the tail, rounded out the top ten finishers. Lee Nelson claimed the 360 c.i. sprint feature before a crowd estimated at 7,000. Nelson, the son of Knoxville Raceway Hall of Famer, Skip Nelson, led the distance to take his initial main event win here. Scott Whitworth, Bobby Mincer, Terry Alexander and Virgil Brandt were the top five runners in the race. 410 Results Time Trials (Qualifying Order): 1. 47, Danny Lasoski, Dover, MO (4) 16.029; 2. Lap Leader: Nelson 1-15. 6/4/94 McCarl Halts Lasoski Knoxville Streak by Bob Wilson Knoxville, IA Terry McCarl has been in a number of sprint cars during the 1994 tour, but Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway the second generation driver proved that you can come home and win in a first-time ride. McCarl took the Manny Rockhold J&J Automotive Machine sprinter from a front row starting position to gain a hard fought 20-lap feature event win in his first time in the car. The win paid the Iowa native $2,500 for his ninth career victory on Knoxville soil and stopped the Lasoski Midwest feature event win streak at ten. In what could well be described as one of the finest races to be contested at Knoxville in many years, the first portion of the event found six sprinters battling for the top spot in such close proximity that the proverbial blanket could have covered them all. Pole-sitter Brooke Tatnell claimed the first nine laps for the nation of Australia as he led the charge running a low circuit of laps on the half mile. McCarl stayed right on his rear bumper in the second position until Danny Young took the runner-up spot after eight laps. Two laps later, Young grabbed the lead as Danny Lasoski then entered the fray, gaining fourth after a 6 th row start and Skip Jackson and Johnny Herrera closed ranks on the leaders as well. On lap 15, McCarl dove to the low side of Young and took the lead going through turns three and four on a track which had turned hard and slick. Lasoski was by Young shortly thereafter and the two front-running cars with Young in tow, forged into lapped traffic at a furious pace. With three laps to go, a yellow flag brought the field to a slow pace and on the single-file restart, McCarl was able to keep Lasoski at bay and take the checkered flag. Jackson made a late pass of Young to finish third and Herrera came across the line fifth. Jeff Tuttle, Jaymie Moyle, Bob White, Craig Dollansky and Tatnell rounded out the top ten finishers. www.knoxvilleraceway.com Page 13 of 64

In the companion 360 c.i. sprint feature, Randy Martin became the first repeat winner of the season, as he led the distance to claim the 15-lap event. Rookie Bruce Williams was second, Terry Alexander finished third and Dwight Snodgrass took fourth. 410 Results Time Trials (Qualifying Order): 1. 47, Danny Lasoski, Dover, MO (4) 16.305; 2. 55, Jerry Richert Jr., Forest Lake, MN (10) 16.997; 3. 39, Bob White, Des Moines, IA (29) 16.928; 4. 59, Brent Antill, Huxley, IA (23) 16.976; 5. 86, John Kearney, Ozawkie, KS (9) 16.978; 6. 5, Johnny Herrera, Albuquerque, NM (18) 17.003; 7. 1K, Craig Dollansky, Elk River, MN (20) 17.013; 8. 3, Daniel Coggeshell, Milo, IA (7) 17.076; 9. 26, Rich Brahmer, Wisner, NE (8) 17.093; 10. 3Y, Danny Young, Des Moines, IA (37) 17.118; 11.
