Quilts by Phyllis, Inc. 2943 Putnam Ave. Hurricane, WV 25526 304-562-7404 www.quiltsbyphyllis.com quiltsbyphyllis@aol.com Hello friends!! I trust that everyone is enjoying such a wonderful summer! I did my best to not complain about any hot days (remembering my promise from this last winter) and have enjoyed spending some time out and about. I did manage to can up a few green beans and still hoping for a day or two to can some tomatoes for Dave s special spaghetti sauce. I always look forward to the seasons changing and autumn always means lots of new fabrics and classes here at the shop as well as planning for future shop events. Soooo----- I would like to give everyone a little inside info about our WV Mountain Quilt Quest Shophop For 11 years now, we have held this event in June; however, due to the fact that schools are dismissing later in the year most of them are saying mid-june we have voted to change the dates for the 2015 WV Mountain Quilt Quest Shophop to JULY 22-25, 2015. We received a lot of feedback this year from our teachers, mothers and grandmothers that could not attend because school was not dismissed yet so we held a meeting and discussed the possibilities of making our shop hop more accessible to not only our teachers but to all our customers and hope this change will give everyone a chance to participate and visit all the wonderful quilt shops in our state!! The Mystery Harvest Shophop is also right around the corner and will be focusing on an exclusive Covered Bridge fabric designed by Beth Dix. I saw the paper prints on the design and must say they are outstanding!! Mark your calendars for October 1-4, 2014 from 9:00am until 7:00pm and join us in the Tri-state s Mystery Harvest Shophop!! Open House will be Saturday, August 16 th 9:00am 4:00pm Our sale will be $1.00 per yard off fabric, fat quarters $2.00 each, jellyrolls and layer cakes $5.00 off, and patterns, books, and notions will be 20% off. Hope everyone can come and check out all the new fabrics in the shop!! Cookie Ranson, Pat Habenschauss, Linda Osborne, Linda Boggess, Clara Poe, Jody Postalwait, Dee Begley and myself got together this summer to plan a few new projects for you this fall. Each of us has become more excited as the time gets closer to Open House and the beginning of our class sessions. We will be limiting these classes to eight students unless otherwise noted in an attempt to be better able to instruct on a more one-on-one level. If the classes fill then we will take a waiting list and try to schedule another class at a later date. Here s what we came up with

What is a Simple Whatnots Club? It s a collection of miniature quilts featuring Kim Diehl s latest collection Vintage Farmhouse. The quilts are traditional patchwork in an array of colors and a simple setting, sometimes with a dollop of applique thrown in to create that wonderful traditional feel. Each month will be a different project and the kits will include everything you need to complete your project. The great part of the club is that its simple enough to get completed without creating another UFO in our sewing rooms and hanging out with our quilting peeps at the same time!! Cookie Ranson will be leading our new Simple Whatnots Club starting in September. We will meet on September 9 th from 1:00 3:00pm and have our first club meeting which will consist of a lecture, picking up your pattern and kit and cutting instructions so you will be prepared for our first simple whatnot class. The first sewing class will be held on Tuesday, September 16 from 1:00-3:00pm. You can pick up your next month s pattern, kit and cutting instructions at that meeting. We will meet on the second Tuesday of each month thereafter October 14, November 11 th at 1:00pm 3:00pm. Cost is $35.00 per month for club members includes kit, pattern and instructor fee. Playful Spirit - A spectacular way to showcase all those Kaffe Fassett fabrics that are new to the shop or choose scrappy, 30 s, Kansas Troubles anything goes in this playful log cabin pattern.
