Mission To create memories and camaraderie by providing free fishing and boating trips for seniors, care centers, veterans, youths, and anyone who would like to participate, in the northern suburbs of St. Paul and surrounding communities. 2

FFF Trip Hours Please be courteous to the Johanna Shores pontoon leaving or docking. They are sharing their dock with us. Thanks for your attention to this! 9
Bimini Please NEVER take the bimini poles completely apart. Cover folds up in top. If PM trip cancelled, bimini must be in CLOSED position and seats covered. Bimini ALWAYS in CLOSED position at end of day. Two people needed to close/open bimini. PLEASE BE SAFE! 10

Reminders Tie downs on the dock MUST be secure BEFORE loading guests. Pontoon chairs moved to the cement apron, not left on dock. Walkers may be collapsed/loaded on pontoon. Please do not leave wheel chairs on dock. Place by gazebo. 12
Reminders Have care center staff load/unload wheelchairs. Assist if necessary. Everyone seated before taking off. We MUST lock the GATE. Donation envelopes - options: - Give several to staff person - Give to those that wish to take them (groups other than care centers) 13
Reminders Master List of volunteers (names, emails and phone numbers) on website. If windy and anchors are not holding while fishing, move to a less windy area on the lake. 14
Reminders Tidy up the boat for next trip: Use wipes to clean chairs/bench. Pick up trash. Use whisk brush and dust pan to clean up after fishing trips. Cover chairs with the separate covers on last trip of the day. 15
Trip Procedures On Fridays: Boat cleaned/covered, gas filled if required. Oil checked monthly. Any volunteers willing to take one month of service (total of 3 people)? Please give it some consideration and contact Julie. 16
New Policies New Captains MUST sign up as a mate BEFORE signing up to Captain a trip. Please document more notes on the Trip Report (group on time or late, number of people fishing, number of veterans, etc.) All forms reside on website. 17
Weather Cancellation Policy If trip is cancelled due to weather, suggest that the organization check the trip schedule for an open date to reschedule. The Scheduler will not be responsible for rescheduling the trip. 18
Bait Bob Teeling has arranged for potential bait donation from Vados Bait Shop. Bob will deliver three dozen night crawlers to the refrigerator on Monday morning. With great appreciation to Bob! 19
Bait At end of fishing trip, throw all cut bait into the lake. Do not put back in the container as they will kill the rest of the worms. If bait is low, contact Bob Teeling at 651-788-5250. This information posted on refrigerator. 20
Off Hour Usage All trained volunteers are welcome to use the pontoon for family and friends during off hours (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and evenings). Pontoon left in found state: covered or uncovered. No one other than a trained FFF captain is allowed to drive the pontoon. Life jackets must still be worn by all. If fishing, please provide own bait. Contact Julie to schedule. 21

Bruce Watson In Remembrance Celebration of Life in January Two eulogies mentioned how much he enjoyed FFF, especially the fishing camps. After his last trip in 2016, he researched a depth finder w/ Boaters Outlet, purchased it and had it installed for FFF. His volunteerism was greatly appreciated and he will be missed. 34

Safety Requirements For All Everyone must wear a life jacket (required before walking on dock). NO alcohol, smoking or illegal drugs allowed on dock or pontoon. No food allowed on pontoon. Guests must remain seated while underway. 38
Safety Requirements for Captains/Mates NO alcohol for 10 hours before trip. Captains must have a valid drivers license. Captains must be at least 25 years old (insurance requirement). 39
Captain and Mates Review Minnesota Boating Guide http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/ boatwater/boatingguide/pdf Consider MN Boaters Safety Course. Background Checks performed. Please wear FFF shirts and work as a team on trips. Minimum of 3 trips recommended. 40
Captain and Mate Duties Captains Perform pre-trip Master Checklist, drive pontoon, assist guests, complete Trip Report Mates Assist with pontoon preparation, assist guests with life jackets and boarding, converse with all, pass out water/donation envelopes, push off the pontoon and assist with docking 41
Trip Procedures Captain contacts organization 1 or 2 days before trip to confirm. Always wear t-shirt and badge. Arrive at dock at least 30 minutes before launch. Complete pre-trip Master Checklist. Remove chairs as required (store on apron). Lockbox on boat contains boat key and storage bin (by gazebo) key. 42
Trip Procedures Move pontoon to end by gate and secure chain tie downs. Insert ramp. One metal floor plate was removed so ramp more secure. 43
Trip Procedures All life jackets (in storage bin) must be on before walking on dock. Escort and assist guests to pontoon. Always pull wheelchairs up and down ramp. Request staff to do this task, otherwise we will assist. All guests seated before leaving. 44
Trip Procedures Collect Release of Liability forms (extra forms on pontoon). All names must be on this form. Care center staff may sign for everyone in their group. 45
Trip Procedures Lock gate after leaving/returning to dock. You may not always find it locked. Key in plastic storage box. Use microphone for introductions, to discuss mission and relay lake information. Two anchors: One hand winch and one throw in. 46
Trip Procedures Take pictures! Horizontal works best for website. Send to Doug Oliver for future use. Pass out water to those guests that the care center staff confirm. At end of trip: Pass out donation envelopes. Escort guests off pontoon and assist in removing life jackets. 47

Fishing Trips All rods, reels, and bait provided. Captain and two mates assist guests with fishing (put on bait, reel in fish etc.) All volunteers on a fishing trip must carry their valid fishing license. Catch and Release only Care Center staff s primary responsibility is residents safety and comfort. If possible, will assist crew with fishing. 50
Bait Bait stored in refrigerator in Johanna Shores garage. If door is not open, use phone in yellow box to gain access. Use separate small cooler (stored next to the refrigerator for bait). Use rolling cooler for water. Smaller cooler may be placed in rolling cooler. Plastic bin contains wood carving item, bucket and knife for use in cutting bait. 51
Bait Turn the bait container upside down so worms are on top. Rinse off bait before cutting. Return unused/uncut bait to refrigerator. If bait is low, contact Bob Teeling at 651-788-5250. This information posted on the refrigerator. 52
Weather Safety and comfort are a priority. Captain continually checks the forecast. Final check to cancel may be made 1.5 hours before trip: http://www.weather.gov/ It is Captain s responsibility to notify the Guests Contact Person and Mates of trip cancellation. 53
Weather Procedure Lightning/Thunder Bring guests back to Johanna Shores, disembark and take shelter in Johanna Shores as quickly as possible. Guideline: Cancel trips if temperature or heat index is over 95 degrees at time of trip. Discuss with the Guests Contact Person. If any guests are being affected by heat index or temperature, return immediately to Johanna Shores. 54
Serious Injuries/Illness CALL 911 immediately. Go directly to public boat landing to meet paramedics. Contact Julie Overbye Ledy at 651-398-1393. We are NOT trained to administer medical assistance. Care Center staff is responsible for this. Complete Injury Report in plastic box. 55
