PVSS 2016 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Mother s Day Run for Shelter May 8, 2016 Ramsay Park, Watsonville THE EVENT Entering its the 32nd consecutive year, the Mother s Day Run for Shelter will bring nearly 700 runners and plus businesses and crowds of spectators together to raise a goal of $80,000 in support of services to homeless families in our community. Sponsors have the ability to market to almost 1000 enthusiastic runners and supporters. Client Stories Who are the Beneficiaries? Your sponsorship directly benefits the many families who are homeless that are able to become stable and self-sufficient through PVSS programs. We provide temporary shelter while supporting familes to turn their lives around and overcome the obstacles that led them into homelessness. At Pajaro Valley Shelter Services, we build the skills for self-sufficiency. Transitional Housing Program Client I am so grateful to PVSS because they gave me an attitude of Yes, I can Before I came to Pajaro Valley Shelter Services, I lived in domestic violence situation, verbally and psychologically. In this program, I have learned to respect myself. My children are the reason I continue to move forward. My life has changed, and I am more independent. The program requires I make goals. My advice to other families experiencing homeless is not to lose hope, not all is lost. There are still people like those at PVSS who can help you. Also, if you want to, you can do anything. Obdulia lives with her husband Adrian (pictured) and their 4 children in the Transitional Housing Program. When Lucia lost her job and housing, she was expecting her first child. Not having family to assist her, she came to PVSS and Shelter Client found a safe haven for herself and her new daughter. At PVSS she has learned new skills. She also received help from Monarch Services formerly Defensa de Mujeres, which has given her confidence, through one on one counseling. It helps to know that many others are going through a similar situation, like the other girls in the shelter, and I know that we can overcome our difficulties, and I am grateful for the support of PVSS, comments Lucia.
