Produced in association with Derek Jeter s Players Tribune and Magic Hour Productions. Details at VernonTurner.com FDH Draft Philosophy: Value With Every Pick! We at FantasyDrafthelp.com always emphasize the wisdom of our VIP approach to drafting: information and process lead to value. Of course, value is the single most important component of drafting or auctions. Even in the fantasy industry, this point is often overlooked. In most cases, titles are won by patiently accruing value throughout a draft or auction. During the Information stage, fantasy owners compile information about players at individual positions. Process involves comparison of players across all of the positions. We put a tremendous amount of hard work into our draft board, and you do as well. As such, you need to trust the fruits of these labors and adhere to your draft board as much as possible. The surest way to be able to extract maximum value is to prepare extensively ahead of time and then refrain from jumping around on the board on Draft Day. Approach the draft with an actuarial mindset, determined to squeeze maximum value out of every pick, and you will be poised for success.

Some leagues allow the TE position to be WR or TE (in which case, only a few TEs merit any consideration) and some have a flex position, which is generally 1 additional RB or WR. With leagues who utilize defense, some deploy a team D/ST unit and some use individual D players. The most common scoring system is a variation of the following: 4 points per passing TD, 1 point per 25 yards passing, 1 point per passing 2-point PAT, 6 points per receiving or rushing TD, 1 point per 10 yards rushing or receiving, 2 points per rushing or receiving 2-point PAT, 2 points per big play touchdown (50 or more yards), 1 point per kicking PAT, 3 points per FG, with a 1-point bonus at 45 yards, a 2-point bonus at 50 yards and a 3-point bonus at 55 yards, 6 points per defensive or special teams TD, 1 point per interception, sack or fumble recovered and 2 points per safety. In leagues that award 6 points for passing TDs, QBs are worth much more. Evaluating Production Across a Spectrum: Lessons of The Stat Our Stat category on our draft board calculates the standard deviation from the mean in all statistical categories. In simple English, imagine a spectrum going across from left to right, with negative numbers on the left side, a zero in the middle and positive numbers on the right side. We utilize this statistic for baseball, basketball, hockey and NASCAR as well as football. A player s performance in each category is plotted on one of these spectrums, with the most valuable players putting up most of their numbers on the most of their numbers on the positive side. Then, we add up the totals of every category, positive and negative. By using this tool, we can identify not merely how they performed, but how valuable their performances were in each category. Truly, this statistic serves as the ultimate baseline for the previous season s production.

They re not; you re just unprepared. ^ Don t be that guy who doesn t properly understand your league s scoring system. League setups are like snowflakes; no two are the same. Our draft board is configured to conform to a fairly basic scoring system, but your league could have some quirks that would force you to make adaptations to our board. Be aware. ^ Don t be that guy who doesn t pay enough attention and selects players who are already off the board. It s impolite to your leaguemates and it will invariably break your concentration when everyone howls at you and you ve got to go back to Square One on a backup pick. To ensure that you are aware of everything that is going on during your draft, utilize a grid to track all teams, with the number of rounds going down the left side and the teams listed along the top. ^ Don t be that guy who approaches the draft like it s a night of epic decision-making. If you ve done your homework, it s not. You merely find out where you re drafting and you let the draft come to you.

We ve never seen a landscape like this, when the 4 th tier at the position goes from #24 all the way down to #50! There are so many depth charts in flux and others ripe to become in flux, so the greatest possible value in the midto-late rounds comes from protecting the value of your starters, perhaps with more than one backup. 79 ^ At Allen #1 WR, Hurns #2 7X WR and #3 WR, 3 there is slightly 1483 more depth than 35 at #1 RB, #2 0.461 RB and #3 RB. 477 13.6 36 3 8 ^ There is more depth at #1 QB and #2 QB than usual, which attests to the explosiveness of Aaron Rodgers since we have him as a first-rounder on the board. ^ At TE, it s still Rob Gronkowski and everyone else, but he s too big of an injury risk to go where his talent dictates, which would be the first or second round. Take him only if you don t have to reach but if you miss him, hedge yourself with one of the next six on our board before the inevitable TE run sweeps them all away. Take 6 owners and conduct a 7-round standard draft. Points will be assigned at 4 intervals: when the first College Football Playoff poll is released on October 31, when the poll is released on November 14, when the final poll is released on December 3 and when the final AP poll is released after the national title game. The October 31 poll accounts for 20% of the total score (with the exception of the bonus points, mentioned below), the November 14 poll accounts for 20% of the total score, the December 3 poll accounts for 20% of the total score and the final AP poll accounts for 40% of the total score. For the first three polls, scoring is as follows: 1st place (50 points), 2 nd place (45 points), 3rd place (43 points), 4th place (42 points), 5 th place (41 points), 6th place (38 points), 7th place (37 points), 8 th place (36 points), 9th place (35 points), 10th place (34 points), 11 th place (30 points), 12th place (29 points), 13th place (28 points), 14 th place (27 points), 15th place (26 points), 16th place (22 points), 17 th place (21 points), 18th place (20 points), 19th place (19 points), 20 th place (18 points), 21st place (13 points), 22nd place (12 points), 23 rd place (11 points), 24th place (10 points), 25th place (9 points). Points are doubled in the final poll, since it accounts for twice the point total of each of the three previous ones. Additional bonuses are awarded for the following accomplishments: 25 points for winning the National Championship Game, 15 points for winning the national semifinals, 10 points for earning a spot in the semifinals, 10 points for a conference title (or piece of one, for conferences without a championship game), 12 points for winning a Big 6 non-semifinal bowl game, 6 points for earning a spot in a Big 6 non-semifinal bowl, 5 points for winning a non- Big 6 bowl game and 10 points for having the Heisman Trophy winner on one of your teams. Darnold is the early favorite to go #1 overall and Wyoming s Josh Allen is the other signalcaller regarded as being on the same level as the LA twosome. Generally speaking, there are less reservations that scouts have about the top arms in the 2018 draft than the ones in the 2017 crop. Elsewhere on offense, RBs Derrius Guice of LSU, Royce Freeman of Oregon and Saquon Barkley of Penn State loom large, as do WRs Christian Kirk of Texas A&M and Calvin Ridley of Alabama. Of course, differencemakers are present at the top of the draft on defense as well, with Florida S Derwin James, Clemson DT Christian Wilkins, Alabama LB Malik Jefferson, LSU DE/OLB Arden Key, Alabama DE Da Shawn Hand and Ohio State DEs Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard likely candidates for the Top 10 overall.

ROUND 1: Nobody really went off the board except for Nate. Consecutive QBs at the end of the round was an eyebrowraiser. ROUND 2: Nate ends up getting his value back here, who along with Mike P drafted top RBs. Jake took McCaffrey about as high as you will probably see him go this year. ROUND 3: Three rounds, three WRs for Jon! And yet Nate, Mike P, Russ and Anthony still don t have one at this point. ROUND 4: A 2 nd QB, with no RB still, for Anthony? Wow. Then Mike P follows suit with a 2 nd QB. Jon got an amazing value with Montgomery. ROUND 5: The extreme run on QBs got Rick to reach on Prescott. Jeff got a huge value with Lacy and Russ did with Allen. ROUND 6: Samm s Steel Curtain flavor becomes extreme at this point. Mike V got the steal of the draft if Gronk is healthy. ROUND 7: Kelce and Perkins were big values for Rick and Dave, respectively. The TEs started to move here. ROUND 8: With Cook, Howard and Davis, this was a substantial round for rookie upside. ROUNDS 9-12: It took until Rounds 10-12 for the Ks and D/STs to start moving.
