GENERAL INFORMATION RULES The U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships are sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and will be conducted under the rules set forth in the 2010 edition of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook and any relevant ISU communications. The groups for the short programs will be Group B/2010-11 season. Please note that the 2010 Governing Council passed a rule, effective June 1, 2010, which eliminates all qualifying rounds for the U.S. Collegiate Championships. Therefore, all events of the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Championships, regardless of entry numbers, will be comprised only of one short program and one free skate. Junior Ladies and Men: See Rule 3650, with the following exceptions to the short programs: Ladies: a) Junior ladies may elect to do a single Axel or a double Axel Men: a) Junior men may elect to do a single Axel or a double Axel Senior Ladies and Men: See Rule 3640, with the following exceptions to the short programs: Ladies: a) Senior ladies may elect to do a double jump or a triple jump immediately preceded by connecting steps and/or other comparable free skating movements. b) Senior ladies may elect to do a jump combination consisting of two double jumps, a double jump and a triple jump or two triple jumps. Men: a) Senior men may elect to do a double jump, triple jump or quadruple jump immediately preceded by connecting steps and /or other comparable free skating movements. b) Senior men may elect to do a jump combination consisting of two double jumps, a double jump and a triple jump, two triple jumps, or a quadruple jump and a triple jump. REGISTRATION/ENTRY PROCESS STEP 1: Online Electronic Registration (Required) Online registration is the ONLY method available for entry into the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships. To enter online, you must do the following: Log in to www.usfsaonline.org. A username and password are required for successful online registration. Your username is your U.S. Figure Skating membership number. If you do not already have a password, go to www.usfsaonline.org first and follow the online instructions. STUDENT STATUS/ENTRY PROCESS STEP 2: In addition to entering the event via the online registration system, all participants must prove their academic eligibility per U.S. Figure Skating Rule 3045 of the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook: A. Singles events: Competitors shall be qualified to compete by virtue of their having a high school diploma or equivalency certificate in addition to their being enrolled full-time in a college or university degree program, having been graduated in the preceding academic year or by being currently admitted to a full-time college or university degree program for the coming academic year. STUDENT STATUS/ENTRY PROCESS STEP 2 (cont d): B. Pairs and dance events: Competitors shall be qualified to compete by virtue of both partners having a high school diploma or equivalency certificate in addition to their being enrolled a minimum of halftime in a college or university degree program, having been graduated in the preceding academic year or by being currently admitted to a half-time college or university degree program for the coming academic year. If only one partner is so enrolled, a request for an exception to this rule must be forwarded to the national vice chair for collegiate championships with the entry form for a determination of eligibility no later than the closing date for entries. In order to verify their academic status, all athletes must submit to U.S. Figure Skating Headquarters a copy of FORM A, found at the end of this announcement. Athletes must attach to it an acceptable form of written proof from their college or university verifying the information. LOC INFORMATION All participants may direct additional questions to the respective local organizing committee. Athletes competing in pairs or dance must reference the announcement for the Indy Pairs Challenge and the Lake Placid Dance competition, respectively, for all information. Information in this announcement, other than the entry process, is relevant only to the men s and ladies singles events. DEADLINES The entry deadline for all U.S. Collegiate Championships events is 11:59 pm on June 15, 2010, as determined by the time zone where the athlete s home club is located. All online entries must be completed at this time. Late entries will not be accepted. Further, FORM A, proof of student status must be post marked by June 15, 2010. Athletes are not permitted to skate up all tests required for qualifying competitions in their respective events must be passed by the entry deadline of June 15, 2010. There are no exceptions to this. ENTRY FEES Every skater entering the U.S. Collegiate Championships must submit an entry fee as follows. The entry fee will be paid online as part of the registration process: $ 180.00 Singles events (junior and senior) *includes official practice session for SP and FS $ 155.00 Per team pairs or dance (junior and senior) $ 10.00 Administration fee

SCORING The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for all events. Competitors shall submit a Planned Program Content Sheet as part of their online entry. ICE ARENA The competition will be held at the Suburban Ice East Lansing Arena, 2810 Hannah Boulevard, East Lansing, Michigan 48823. The ice surface is 85 x 200. PRACTICE ICE All athletes will be scheduled for one official practice session for the short program and one official practice session for the free skate. Official practice will consist thirty (30) minutes for the short program and thirty-five (35) minutes for the free skate. Additional practice ice may be purchased from the Lansing Skating Club. Please see the Practice Ice Contract on the Lansing Skating Club web site at www.lansingskatingclub.com. MUSIC CDs (standard compact disc format only) will be accepted. CDs must be clearly marked with the name, event entered and the music length. Each disc must have only ONE track on it. Two separate discs must be used for short program and free skate. Due to compatibility and reliability reasons, no music may be submitted on re-recordable CDRW discs. Competition music must be turned in at the registration desk at the time of registration and will be available for pick up at the registration desk at the conclusion of the event. CDs will not be mailed back to competitors. All competitors must have an additional copy of their CD available for practice sessions. Competitors must also have an extra copy available quickly during the actual competition event. EVENTS & ELIGIBILITY Events to be skated, requirements and eligibility are defined in Rule 1430 and Rule 3045: Senior ladies Senior men Senior dance* Senior pairs** Junior ladies Junior men Junior dance* (*Held at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships) Junior pairs** (**Held at the Indy Pairs Challenge) TROPHIES & MEDALS U.S. Collegiate Championships medals will be awarded to competitors placing first, second, third and fourth. Trophies will be awarded to the first-place winners. DRAWS All competitors are encouraged to attend the draw for initial start order in their first event. The intermediate draw for skating order for the subsequent portion of each event will be conducted publicly at a time and place, announced in advance, by the referee. Information for the initial start order draw will be available on the Lansing Skating Club web site (www.lansingskatingclub.com) in the next few weeks.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE FACILITY The Lansing Skating Club has two rinks which are 85 X 200. VIDEO/PHOTO Both services will be available. The committee will make every attempt to ensure that the cost is reasonable. SOUVENIRS T-shirts, sweatshirts and other competition souvenirs will be available for purchase at the competition. COMPETITION REGISTRATION A registration/information packet will be given to each participant when he or she checks in at the Competition Registration Desk at the Suburban Ice East Lansing Arena. All participants must check in at the Competition Registration Desk, which will be open from the start of the first practice ice session for the U.S. Collegiate Championships. LIABILITY The 2010 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Figure Skating and the Lansing Skating Club accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in these championships.
