LEVITAZ Kitefoils

About LEVITAZ Kitefoils An innovative design based on passion and the highest production standards driven by the vision of reaching a new dimension of foiling, our team is seeking to extend the limits. Levitaz kitefoils are made of extremely resistant and lightweight materials. The mast and the wings consist of a fibre composite material, the fuselage and the plate are made of saltwater-resistant high-alloy steel. This allows a very slim design, which in turn lowers the water resistance while foiling. Complex flow simulations enable minimal drag and the best performance possible. With the latest production technology, the Levitaz kitefoils are designed, developed, and manufactured in Austria we guarantee the highest possible quality. Every Levitaz model that leaves our manufacturing facility has been tested in various conditions by our professional riders. Levitaz is the combination of more than 25 years of manufacturing experience with advanced composite materials and many years of design experience with kitefoils an advantage which you can feel. Adrian GEISLINGER Teamrider 15/11/1992 Austria It is our goal to produce kitefoils of the highest quality. We also want to develop our products further to make the use of them more enjoyable and to have the fastest foils available. We rely on our engineering and production background to reach that goal. Cornelius GEISLINGER CEO Levitaz a brand of Geislinger GmbH Austria Both obsessed with the idea to fly over water, Adrian Geislinger (Teamrider) and Mario Legenstein (Designer) met in the summer of 2013 soon thereafter, the idea for the Levitaz kitefoil was born. When did you first think about designing your own kitefoil? Adrian: I first came into contact with kitefoiling during a visit in San Francisco. The America s Cup 2013 was a revolution for the foiling scene. Riding a kitefoil, the former world champion won the competition with great success. Back in Austria, I was infected with the foil-fever, and tried some of the existing kitefoils. I soon came to realize that the products on the market didn t fulfill my expectations and the qualities I was looking for in a kitefoil. Shortly after, I met Mario, a guy who is as thrilled about foiling as I am, and who is seeking to develop the perfect foil Mario: The first time I ever saw a kitefoil was in France during the European Championship in 2009. I was immediately amazed by this new sports equipment which allows the rider to glide over water silently. Back in Austria, I ordered a kitefoil but I wasn t really satisfied with the performance and the quality. I started studying existing literature in order to design my own kitefoil and soon afterwards I built the first prototypes. Meeting Adrian was really inspiring, and together we developed the idea further. Adrian: Geislinger GmbH, with their profound experience with carbon fibre technology, seemed to be the perfect partner for helping us develop our kitefoils. Thanks to the enthusiasm of my father, Cornelius Geislinger, CEO of the Geislinger GmbH, the brand Levitaz was born. What thrills you most about foiling? Adrian: To me, foiling is the evolution of kitesurfing. Once I had tried it, I was absolutely hooked on the feeling of flying over water. It feels like off-piste snowboarding, or even better. Furthermore, the speeds you can reach with a kitefoil are amazing and exceed the limits of what has been possible so far. Foiling is evolving and becoming more and more interesting as a discipline, not only for the racing scene, but also for freestylers. Right now we are just at the beginning of a fast and dynamic growing movement. Mario: The kitefoil as an interface between the water, the rider, the kite, and the wind is highly fascinating. The kitefoil provides the ideal connection between the wind and the water. The feeling of foiling is intense - if you become one unit with your kitefoil, kite, and board, you get the feeling of being directly connected to the terrain and your surroundings, and you can adjust perfectly to the natural forces of water and wind. How do you get your ideas for new products and what inspires you the most? Adrian: What I get inspired by most, be it for further developing the Levitaz kitefoils or something else, is foiling. Taking part in different competitions all around the world also gives me the opportunity to foil in different conditions. Water temperatures, wind conditions, as well as currents and waves influence the foiling experience. With Levitaz we are seeking to develop kitefoils which perform effortlessly in all these conditions. Furthermore, the constant exchange with our Levitaz riders and their feedback is one of the driving factors in the development of our kitefoils. Mario: Optimizing and experiencing new things is what drives and motivates me. I would describe myself as a born inventor. For example, I had also been building snowboards before the first ones were sold on the mainstream market. Pioneering new products is very exciting and there is nothing more inspiring than being part of an innovative new movement. A magic dwells in each beginning I can feel this magic in being part of Levitaz, an enthusiastic and professional team.

The innovative Levitaz design enables a combination of various front- and rearwings, as well as different fuselage lengths. Therefore, the foil can be adapted to various conditions and even completely disassembled, which is especially useful if you travel. Due to its modular concept, the frontwings of the Levitaz Kitefoils can easily be exchanged, making an upgrade from the Levitaz Element-Set to the Aspect 3.0- Set for intermediate and pro-riders possible. The Bionic proves excellent efficiency for upwind courses and extends your reach of new spheres. Once I had tried a Levitaz kitefoil I was addicted to the feeling to gliding over water. Chilling on the beach I can t wait to get back on my foil. Peter MÜLLER 08/08/1984 Dylan van der MEIJ Freestyle 20/02/1995 The Netherlands Dylan van der Meij, born in 1995, lives in Noordwijk, a small town on the Dutch coast. The first time he stood on a board was in the summer of 2008. Since then, he has been absolutely hooked on the kite-sport and really knows how to give an amazing performance on a board. What was your first kitefoiling experience? The first time I got to try a foil was in the south of Italy in 2014. I was there to compete in the European Freestyle Championship, but the wind wasn t strong enough to run the heats. Luckily, I met Adrian, who was there to compete in the European Formula Race Competition. He let me try his foil and I loved it. What is it like, kitefoiling for the very first time? In the beginning I felt like a dolphin. I was going up and down all the time, but after a while I got the hang of it. It was absolutely thrilling. Unfortunately, the sun was setting and it got too dark, so I had to stop. The following day I was excited to try it again, and I was able to stay up most of the time. What do you think makes foiling interesting for freestyle riders? What I love most about kitesurfing are the possible varieties. Most riders have been doing their specific discipline for years. Foiling is something new and super exciting. When there s only light winds, and you can t go out with a twin tip, foiling is still an option. Based on the wind, you can choose what you want to do kitesurfing and kitefoiling do not exclude one another. What I love the most about kitesurfing is the variety. What thrills you most about foiling? The freedom and the fact that you can go out in super light winds thrills me the most about foiling. When everyone else is just chilling on the beach or near the lake, you can go out and have fun! What I mean with freedom is that you can go upwind like never before now you can basically go everywhere. Can you give us a short description what foiling feels like? Whenever I m foiling, I feel like Aladdin on his magic carpet! It feels like flying above the water, like unlimited possibilities. You don t feel the chops and turns of the waves, everything feels super smooth. The craziest thing is the sound, though. On a twin tip, or any other board, you will always hear the spray. With a kitefoil, you barely hear anything, except the wind you re cutting through when you re going really fast it s amazing. Andreas Brandstätter R & D Engineer Andreas Branstätter holds a university degree in industrial and mechanical engineering. He has been with Levitaz since the very beginning. His enthusiasm for sports like skiing or climbing inspires him to push the boundaries. Exceeding the limits and thinking outside the box are his passion. Andreas, what is the best thing about developing kitefoils? I think everyone dreams about being able to fly. Designing kitefoils is my contribution to make that dream of flying possible, while also considering the diverse technical requirements and combining them with our knowledge of natural forces like water and wind. What gives the Levitaz kitefoils a competitive lead? I have been with Levitaz since the idea was born there is nothing more motivating than working on a project that excites you. The intense collaboration and exchange between the Levitaz developers, the production team, and the team riders gives Levitaz a competitive advantage. At the moment, the foiling scene is still rapidly developing and changing. With Levitaz, I think we are positioned at the forefront of this dynamic evolution. What is your personal motivation for designing the best kitefoil? T.A. Edison once said that there was always a way to do something better. I always keep my eyes open for new ideas and possibilities. With Levitaz, we want to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible in order to design the best kitefoil I think it s really exciting.

LEVITAZ Foilparts PLATE The plate, made of saltwater-resistant high-alloy steel, connects the mast, the frontwing, and the fuselage and allows you to assemble your foil quickly.
