Dollar Energy Fund provides utility assistance grants to those experiencing financial hardships. Last program year, Dollar Energy Fund provided more than 30,000 grants to help households in need maintain or restore basic utility services. As part of Dollar Energy Fund s goal to help local families maintain or restore their utilities, the non-profit organization created a unique and exciting fundraising event called Cool Down for Warmth. On January 25 & 26, 2018, a house of ice will be constructed in downtown Pittsburgh in Market Square. Participants will stay in the house until they have met their minimum fundraising goal of $1,000 for individuals or $2,500 for teams of two or more. All donations will receive a dollar-for-dollar match from partnering utility companies and 100% of the donations and matching funds will be used to provide utility assistance grants to local families in need through Dollar Energy Fund s Hardship Program. One in four households was without utility service before receiving a grant from Dollar Energy Fund, and two out of every three grant recipient households have a child under the age of 18 living in the home. Your support will provide local neighbors and families the basic utility services needed this winter.
