He used his false teeth to eat hoecakes, his favorite breakfast; simple cornmeal pancakes served with butter and honey. His Ideas Became Presidential Traditions Washington added the phrase So help me God to the end of the Presidential Oath of Office during his inauguration and it has been delivered in that manner ever since. It was his idea to the call the chief executive Mr. President. He is also the inspiration for the two-term limit for the presidency and it was he who issued the first Thanksgiving Proclamation designating November 26 as a national holiday. What Was George Washington s Middle Name? George Washington did not have a middle name. The use of middle names was not a common practice in Europe or its colonies until the early 19th century.
