Description Slew Wood is a rapidly growing commercial woodland that has been well managed for the production of valuable timber, and is soon to produce large volumes of valuable timber. The future for commercial woodlands looks very promising in the UK with forecast timber shortages in the near future. Sound timber growing woodlands like Slew Wood represent very attractive medium term investments. As you enter the woodland you initially find a small area of Douglas Fir that is growing well, but would benefit from a degree of cleaning (ie removal of the self-seeded birch trees). A short distance down the track you will come into the Larch crop that makes up the majority of Slew Wood. The larch has been well thinned, and will soon be ready for a further thinning. The woodland is situated in the heart of a very popular part of the beautiful Devon countryside. It is remote yet with good access, and sits in the most peaceful location you could imagine. A good grass track runs the length of the woodland, and with a little work on a small number of soft spots, this track could facilitate excellent access to all areas. There are a number of streams crossing through the woodland on their way to the River Taw to the west. These could possibly be developed into other water features, such as ponds. Directions From South Molton: travel west on the B3227 for 6 miles until you come into Umberleigh. As you come into Umberleigh village, just past the train station, you need to turn left (which is almost straight on) just before the river bridge. This is signed for Warkleigh and takes you past the Post Office. Drive for 2.2 miles down this road until you come to a right hand turn signed for Park Farm and Cleeve Copse. Turn right down here and continue for ¼ mile when you find double metal gates in front of you. At this point you need to turn right just in front of the gates down a narrow track. The access from this point on is along a good hard track, but probably best in a 4x4. Across the stream and up the bank beyond you will come to a steel gate with a red topped gate post. Drive through this gate (closing it behind you) and the woodland gate will be in front of you with our For Sale sign on. Please park where you will not block the access. Rights of Way There is a right of way all the way to the woodland gate. There is a right of way (on foot only) along the forest track in favour of a small piece of woodland to the south. This right of way has not yet been exercised and we believe it unlikely to be. a part of any contract.
