"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art" Eleanor Roosevelt NOTEWORTHY NEWS AND NOTICES COTTONWOOD PALO VERDE HOA # 2 COMMUNICATION Communication is essential to the smooth functioning of our community. Accordingly, we have many channels of communication resources available to our homeowners. HOMEOWNER MEETINGS - The Board of Directors hold two regularly scheduled public meetings per month - the first being the Agenda Planning Meeting and the second, the monthly Board Meeting. Board Meetings are open to homeowners of Cottonwood Palo Verde unless they are posted as an Executive Meeting. The Agenda Planning Meeting, held the Tuesday prior to the monthly Board Meeting, is primarily to set the agenda for the more formal monthly Board Meeting. It provides an opportunity for homeowners to raise any issue or matter of concern. The (monthly) Board Meeting is held typically the last Wednesday of each month. The agenda (subject to change) is posted prior to the monthly Board Meeting on the main association bulletin boards, in The Flyer and on the website. Check these areas for any changes to date and time of meetings. Occasionally, the BOD will hold workshops or working meetings which are announced prior to the scheduled date. BULLETIN BOARDS around Cottonwood Palo Verde display the latest information on events and activities. All CWPV Activity and Board News bulletin boards are controlled and monitored by the Recreation Department. COMMENT CARDS give homeowners a means to voice a comment, concern or express appreciation to management and staff. All cards received are reviewed by management for appropriate action. Comment Cards (white cards) are available at the Administration Center or at any Comment Card Box located around Cottonwood and Palo Verde. These white cards are for general communication. Food & Beverage and Golf have their own cards. Food & Beverage Response Cards are available at the Cottonwood Bar & Grill and Palo Verde Restaurants and are also online at www.cottonwoodpaloverde.com, by choosing the RESTAURANTS link. Golf Comment Cards are available at the Cottonwood and Palo Verde Pro Shops. THE FLYER - The Flyer, our weekly publication, provides the most up-to-date Association information. Hard copies of The Flyer are available around Cottonwood and Palo Verde in white Flyer boxes, available by email sign-up or online at www.cottonwoodpaloverde.com. EMAIL - Homeowners can choose to sign up to receive The Flyer, In The Know (our Tuesday e- newsletter), in addition to periodic HOA alerts automatically sent to their email address. Sign up at www.cottonwoodpaloverde.com by choosing the HOMEOWNERS ONLY link. Enter the first 6 digits of the Homeowners Card then choose the link, EMAIL SIGN-UP/CHANGE EMAIL ADDRESS. NOTE: Email signup is exclusively controlled by the homeowner. The HOA does not automatically sign up or remove homeowners for this service. HOA GOVERNING DOCUMENTS AND FORMS - HOA Articles of Incorporation, Association Bylaws, Board Policies, CC&R's and Reciprocal Agreements with Sun Lakes HOA and IronOaks HOA and other HOA forms are available to homeowners at the Administration Center and in the HOMEOWNERS ONLY section of the website. SUN LAKES "SPLASH" NEWSPAPER - The Sun Lakes "Splash", published monthly by Robson Communities, Inc., is for residents of all of Sun Lakes. You will find in this publication news from CWPV, including a message from our Board President, Board Minutes, CWPV Recreation and Food & Beverage events. (Continued on page 3)

That hasn t happened in our community but we want to do all we can to prevent such accidents. We don t have sidewalks, so a few precautions for walkers and bikers are important, especially this time of year when more walkers are out in the early morning hours while it is still dark and enjoying their exercise before it gets too warm. 1. Walk facing traffic - Do all that you can to be seen by drivers. Wear light colored clothing and something reflective. In the dark, carry and wave a flashlight as you walk. Try to make eye contact with oncoming drivers. If walking your dog, keep your pet on a short leash wearing a reflective collar or leash. Most importantly, walk close to the curb, NOT in the automobile traffic lane. 2. Bike with traffic - At night, be sure your bike has a light and reflectors, especially on the back. Wear light colored clothing. Be extra aware of traffic approaching you from behind. Install a mirror. Bike close to the curb, NOT in the automobile traffic lane. Be sure to have identification with you and carrying your cell phone is a good idea. DRIVERS, please be extra alert during the dark hours and drive SLOWLY. -Dick Gothier, Security/Patrol Manager, CWPV
