Program Requirements for Singles and Pairs Must meet at least one of the following test or competition qualifications: Standard Requirements Accelerated Requirements Advanced Requirements Select Requirements No qualifications needed Tests: intermediate, novice or junior free skate or pairs test; adult gold free skate or pairs test Tests: senior free skate or pairs test Competition: novice, junior or senior singles or pairs competitors at sectional championships; championship masters singles or championship pairs competitors at the U.S. Adult Competition: novice, junior or senior singles or pairs competitors at the U.S.

Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition Judge Appointment Guidelines General Comments 1. A Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition appointment is not a pre requisite to obtaining a Regional Singles/Pairs Competition appointment. 2. It is understood that judges with a Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition appointment will be actively working toward obtaining a Bronze Singles/Pairs Test appointment, if they have not obtained one already. 3. Judges with Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition appointments are qualified to judge all levels in singles and pairs at nonqualifying competitions. 4. A minority of a judging panel at a nonqualifying competition event can consist of judges with only a Nonqualifying Competition appointment. Criteria to Obtain Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition Appointment Guidelines to Obtain Nonqualifying Singles/Pairs Competition Appointment Requires favorable endorsement of judging peers and RVC Must be a current or former singles or pairs competitor at the novice, junior or senior level at the U.S. Figure Skating or a current or former singles or pairs competitor at the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating. A candidate may not take the Nonqualifying Competition appointment test unless he/she has met the above criteria. To apply for this appointment, the candidate must complete one of the following options: 1. & Test: a. Attend a judges school approved by the Judges Committee for that purpose and b. Pass a proficiency test with a minimum passing grade of 80%. The test will cover all aspects of competition judging, including but not limited to ethics, element identification, 6.0 rules and IJS rules. OR 2. Trial Judging & Test: a. Trial judge a minimum of six segments at a competition approved by the Judges Committee for trial judging. i. Each segment must consist of at least eight skaters in singles or six teams in pairs. ii. Must include at least one event judged under the 6.0 system and at least one event judged under IJS. iii. Must include both short program and free skate events. b. If the JET determines that the candidate is eligible to take the test, a proficiency test will thereafter be sent to the candidate. That test must be passed with a minimum passing grade of 80%. The test will cover all aspects of competition judging, including but not limited to ethics, element identification, 6.0 rules and IJS rules.

JUDGES COMMITTEE GUIDELINES revised 7/24/2012 Regional Singles/Pairs Competition Judge Appointment Appointment Requirements Must be a Silver Singles/Pairs Test Judge or higher Trial Judging Eligibility Judges Promotional Exam Official Competition Activity Judges can pursue Silver Singles/Pairs Test and Regional Singles/Pairs Competition appointments at the same time Candidates must pass the (singles and pairs) to be considered for an appointment. If a candidate does not pass the, then the appointment will be returned to the monitor with a letter of explanation. Must demonstrate a commitment to being an active judge in both the testing and competition systems. Should judge nonqualifying competitions throughout the year and not limit this activity only to competitions that offer trial judging opportunities. All competition activity should be tracked and submitted with application for appointment. Should have judged juvenile, intermediate, novice, and junior events at several nonqualifying competitions. National Singles/Pairs Competition Judge Appointment Appointment Requirements Must be a Gold Singles/Pairs Test Judge and Sectional Singles/Pairs Competition Judge for a minimum of one year Judge Promotional Exam Official Competition Activity Candidates must pass the (singles and pairs) to be considered for an appointment. If a candidate does not pass the, then the appointment will be returned to the monitor with a letter of explanation. Must judge at least one regional and one sectional, U.S. Junior, U.S. Collegiate or U.S. Adult. Should judge nonqualifying competitions throughout the year and must demonstrate a commitment to being an active judge in both the testing and competition systems. Should have judged a minimum of two pair events (one senior and one junior with SP and FS). One must be at a sectional or equivalent approved by SVC w/ minimum of four teams and must be within past two years of application. Must have judged a minimum of six each of junior and senior (SP & FS) events at qualifying competitions. Must have judged a minimum of two final rounds of a novice, junior or senior event at a regional (or equivalent) within two years of application. Two senior events (SP & FS) with six entries minimum.
