All skiers in the Midget, Juvenile, Junior and Open categories must have a current CCC, FIS or other National Ski Federation racing license to register. If a skier is licensed by both FIS and CCC, both license numbers must be listed on the registration. CCC has introduced a Development License for Midgets that allow Midgets to earn Canada Points in Midget categories. Skiers not licensed by FIS, CCC or other National Ski Federation must purchase a CCC day license during registration at a cost of $5 per day. *** only skiers with FIS licenses are eligible to receive cash prizes *** Seeding: Seeding will be in accordance with Section 6.9 of the Haywood NorAm Series Technical Package - 2017-18 Season. Competitors in the Senior Men and Junior Men and those in the Senior Women and Junior Women categories will be combined for seeding purposes and will compete as a single Open competition. The categories will be separated into Open and Junior for results and awards/prizes. The current Canada Points List (CPL) for both distance and sprint competitions will be used (cccski.com/events/points.aspx). Foreign skiers will be seeded with reference to their Canadian points. Midget skiers holding a CCC racing licence will receive preferred seeding in all races. There will be no seeding for Mini-midget and younger or for Masters categories and order of start will be by random draw.

After entry deadline, no refunds will be given unless the event is cancelled (see Cancellation ). Start lists will be posted online at Zone4.ca and the event website as soon as possible following the Team Captains Meetings on the evening before each race. TCM meetings will be held at 7pm each evening Thursday, January 18 th through to Saturday January 20 th at the River Bend clubhouse. All team captains or coaches are encouraged to attend to ensure their athletes entries are correct and complete prior to creation of Start Lists. Sprint qualifier round will be held for Open to Midget categories starting at 9am on Friday, January 19,2018. Subject to the number of registrations, the Midget qualifier may run separately later in the day and the Atoms to Mini-Midgets categories may run Kings Court Friday afternoon without a qualifier round. There are 5 relay categories for each of Male and Female. Teams are composed of athletes from the same Division and may combine categories as follows: Atoms + Pee Wees (3 x 1 km) Mini-Midgets + Midgets (3 x 2km) Juveniles (3 x 3.3km) Junior B/G (3 x 3.3km) Junior M/W + Senior (M:3 x 5km; W: 3 x 3.75km)

Awarding of points will be by Division down to the top 5 per division. Unofficial teams are allowed to race but will not be counted for aggregate points purposes. Relay team registration for pre-registered athletes will be open from Wednesday, January 17 until noon Saturday, January 20, 2018. Relay Team registration fee is as per following table. The link to online relay registration will be emailed to all registered coaches and also available on the event website. Coaches on skis will not be allowed in the stadium. Reserve a bib during online coach registration. Fee is $10 per bib, plus $50 refundable deposit. Bibs can be picked up at the Race Office. There will be a $50 replacement fee for transponder chips not returned to Zone4. NorAm and top three Junior Men and Women awards will be presented in the stadium area following each day s Open Category race. Award presentations to the top three finishers in each of the other categories will take place after the races. Cash prizes will be given to the top five finishers of individual races in the Open Class plus the top U23 finisher and the top 3 teams in the Open Relay. Only skiers with FIS licenses are eligible for cash prizes. Alberta Cup Awards will be presented following each day s races shortly after the finish of the last category. Medals will be given to the top 3 finishers in each category with the Juvenile category getting medals within each year of birth. Midgets and under will also get ribbons for the 4, 5, and 6 th finishers. Medals and ribbons will be awarded to the respective winners, regardless of their Division or country of origin. ***A schedule of daily awards presentations will be posted at the Race Office***

Western Canada Championship SWIS/Fischer Cup will be given to Divisions only (not individuals). The Division aggregate will be based on the top 3 racers per Division in each individual category and top 5 racers per Division in the relay category. The NorAm points system is used for scoring. Points will be awarded for all races. Skier affiliation will be with their host club. AB Cup Series points will be awarded per CCA Technical Package rules. Protest forms will be available in the Race Office. Protests must be made in writing, submitted to the Competition Secretary within 15 minutes of posting of unofficial results and accompanied by a $50 CAD fee. All courses will be marked and tracks set on Wednesday Jan17 th. Course maps will be posted to the event website as soon as they are available and at the River Bend Clubhouse by 10 am on Wednesday Jan17 th. Wax testing on course is permitted up to 5 minutes before the start of competition. Wax Facilities: A limited amount of heated waxing shelter will be installed in the parking lot adjacent to the stadium. Each Division/NST/NDC will be provided with a portion of this space in balance with the expected size of team. There will also be area available adjacent to these shelters for team tents/vehicles to be setup as supplemental ski preparation space. Please advise the OC of your wax shelter space requirements during online registration. Power for irons and lights will be supplied via a portable distribution panel situated in the parking lot. A limited selection of long extension cords will be available. Teams are asked to supply their own power cords to the extent possible. Please advise the OC of your power cord requirements during online registration. Glide Waxing Protocol Cross Country Alberta respectfully requests all coaches, wax technicians and parents abide by a self-governed protocol while waxing skis for athletes racing in the Midget age and younger categories. The glide waxing protocol is as follows: Structure tools ARE permitted Non-Fluoro (NF) or Low Fluoro (LF) glide waxes ARE permitted Medium Fluoro (MF) or High Fluoro (HF) glide waxes are NOT permitted Pure Fluoro glide waxes (powders, pucks, blocks and liquid) are NOT permitted Cold weather powder additives and hardeners are NOT permitted The adherence to this protocol is self-governed and is the responsibility of the coaches, athletes, parents and wax technicians.

Food will be available for purchase on site. There are accessible washrooms in the Clubhouse, and additional portable toilets are located in the parking lot close to the stadium area. There is limited space for changing so athletes should come to the race in their racing gear or be prepared to change in their vehicle. A separate, heated ladies changing space will be provided. Please do not use the accessible washrooms for changing. Finish line: snacks and beverages will be provided. Concession: River Bend Clubhouse will offer food and beverage for sale during race days. The parking at River Bend is limited, please carpool to help reduce the number of vehicles. A decision to cancel or move this event to a different venue will be made in consultation with the Organizing Committee, the Technical Delegate and Cross Country Alberta and Cross Country Canada. Race fees are not refundable if the event is moved. Race fees will be refunded, less incurred event expenses and a small administrative fee, if the entire event is cancelled outright.
