FamilyCare America s 2008 Because We Care Golf Tournament October 8, 2008 @ The Crossings Golf Course 1:00 a.m. Shotgun start Format: Captain s Choice Player and Sponsorship Opportunities All proceeds go to: Caregiving Ministries and Senior Connections are working together to provide leadership, support and resources to faith-based programs for seniors and their caregivers throughout Metropolitan Richmond.

About the beneficiaries of the Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging is dedicated to helping seniors maintain quality of life and independence as they age. Established in 1973 as one of 25 Area Agencies on Aging (AoAs) in the State of Virginia, Senior Connections is governed by a Board of Directors and operates as a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. As a nonprofit, the Agency accepts donations of items, services, monetary gifts and memorials. It serves citizens in the City of Richmond and the Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, and Powhatan. Goal: "To serve as a resource in the community for seniors and caregivers who need assistance in planning for and making decisions later in life." Mission: "To assist seniors to live with dignity and choices in their homes and communities." Vision: "To encourage and empower seniors to improve and maintain their quality of life." Senior Connections seeks to improve the overall quality of life for seniors and caregivers. There are more that 160,000 persons age 60 and older residing in our service areas. We provide a comprehensive range of home and community-based services. The Agency places special emphasis on assisting the frail and disadvantaged elderly who may be socially isolated and physically or economically at-risk. Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging also serves as an advocacy and education organization focused on issues that impact current and future retirees. To learn more about Senior Connections and the incredible work that they do for our community, visit www.seniorconnections-va.org We provide valuable resources for clergy, church leaders and caregivers. Among them, we provide tools and support in the form of Leader s Guides for starting ministry programs, organizing and motivating volunteers, and funding ministry programs. We are becoming a clearinghouse for the exchange of ideas and programs that minister to those in need and serving as a repository for best of breed ministry programs in order to accelerate the creation and implementation of care ministries by shortening the research and study process and provide business acumen and organizational discipline to the process. To learn more about Caregiving Ministries and the National Caregivers Library: go to www.caregivingministries.org Please review our national Call To Share brochure and consider sharing existing care ministry programs from other churches and faith-based organizations around the country.

The Answers to What We Think Will Be Frequently Asked Questions 1. If you sponsor a team or otherwise bring multiple players, they do NOT have to play together. We recognize that you may want to have your people split up and network so we will try to accommodate that. 2. If you want to add additional players to your sponsor package, the cost is $150 per additional player. 3. All drinks, snacks and dinner will be provided at no additional cost. HOWEVER, any purchases of alcoholic beverages must be from the club s beverage cart or clubhouse. FamilyCare America and Senior Connections will not provide alcoholic beverages. 4. Short of a blizzard or hurricane, we plan to play rain or shine. If The Crossings decides to close the course, we will establish a rain date at that time. 5. You are winning for yourself and others. If a player wins a hole-in-one contest, the winning player gets 50% of the payout and Caregiving Ministries and Senior Connections share the other 50% to support their caregiving programs. Only amateur players are eligible to win (sorry, no professional golfers may participate). The first player to shoot a hole-in-one on a particular hole is the winner for that hole. The first player to shoot a hole-in-one in any other hole-in-one contest is the winner of that contest. 6. Yes, this is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
