Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 9 Dua 43 Sahifa Sajjadiyah Upon Sighting the new moon of Ramdhan It is recommended, at the sight of the new moon of Rama n, to say the supplication number forty-three of the al- a fah al-k milah al-sajj diyyah. Sayyid Ibn ± w s narrated that Imam `Al ibn al- usayn Zayn al- `ªbid n (a.s), once, gazed at the new moon of Rama n while he was walking. Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 15 and complete for us Your kindness by perfecting therein obedience to You! إن ك أ ن ت الم ن ان الح م يد Surely You are All-kind, Praiseworthy. و ص ل ى الل ه ع ل ى م ح م د و آل ه الط ي ب ين And bless Mu ammad and his Household, the good, the pure. و اج ع ل ل ن ا ف يه ع و نا م ن ك ع ل ى م ا ن د ب ت ن ا إل ي ه And grant us aid from You to carry out that which You have ordered us to do in it; م ن م ف ت ر ض ط اع ت ك Such as the obedience to You which You have made incumbent upon us, و ت ق ب ل ه ا إن ك األ ك ر م م ن ك ل ك ر يم and accept them from us, for You are the most Generous of all those who show generosity و األ ر ح م م ن ك ل ر ح يم and the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 17 General Acts for the 1 st Night of Ramadhan It is recommended to take a Ghusl tonight. It is recommended to bathe oneself in a flowing river and to pour on the head thirty handfuls of water so as to be mentally pure up to the next Rama n. It is recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam al- usayn (a.s) so that the sins will be forgiven and the like of the reward of those who undertake the ajj and the `Umrah in that year will be recorded for him. Recite a two Rak`ah prayer reciting in each Rak`ah S rah of al-f ti ah and S rah of al-an` m (No. 6) and pray to Almighty Allah for security against ailments.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 18 Supplication for last Night of Sha ban and First Night of Ramadhan Shaykh al-± siy has narrated on the authority of arith ibn Mugh rah al-na riy that Imam al- adiq (a.s) used to say the following supplication at the last night of Sha`ban and the first night of Rama an: O Allah: verily, this blessed month, in which the Qur'an was revealed إن الل ه م هذ ا الش ه ر ال م ب ار ك ال ذ ي ال ق ر آن أ ن ز ل ف ي ه and was made guidance for people and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong), و ج ع ل ه د ى ل لن اس و ب ي ن ات م ن ال ه د ى و ال ف ر ق ان has commenced ق د ح ض ر So, (please) keep us out of blemish during it,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 19 ف س ل م ن ا ف يه and keep it sound for us, و س ل م ه ل ن ا and receive it from us with means of easiness and good health from You و ت س ل م ه م ن ا ف ي ي س ر م ن ك و ع اف ي ة O He Who has accepted the little (deed) and thanked for the much; ي ا م ن أ خ ذ ال ق ل يل و ش ك ر ال ك ث ير (please) accept from me the little (deed). اق ب ل م ن ي ال ي س ير. O Allah: I beseech You to الل ه م إن ي أ س أ ل ك أ ن make for me a path to every decency, ت ج ع ل ل ي إل ى ك ل خ ي ر س ب يال and to make for me a barrier against everything that You do not like

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 20 و م ن ك ل م ا ال ت ح ب م ان عا O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. ي ا أ ر ح م الر اح م ين O He Who has pardoned me and overlooked the misdeeds that I have committed secretly; ي ا م ن ع ف ا ع ن ي و ع م ا خ ل و ت ب ه م ن الس ي ئ ات O He Who has not punished me for my committing acts of disobedience to Him: ي ا م ن ل م ي ؤ اخ ذ ن ي ب ار ت ك اب ال م ع اص ي I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon, O the All-generous. ع ف و ك ع ف و ك ع ف و ك ي ا ك ر يم. O Allah: I beseech You الل ه م إن ي أ س أ ل ك for rest at death, الر اح ة ع ن د ال م و ت and for pardon at calling to account. و ال ع ف و ع ن د ال ح س اب Great is the sin of Your servant; so, let Your overlooking him be excellent. ع ظ م الذ ن ب م ن ع ب د ك ف ل ي ح س ن الت ج او ز

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 22 م ن ع ن د ك O He Who is worthy of being feared and is worthy of forgiving; I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon. ي ا أ ه ل الت ق و ى و ي ا أ ه ل ال م غ ف ر ة ع ف و ك ع ف و ك. I Allah: I am Your servant and the son of Your servant and Your she-servant, الل ه م إن ي ع ب د ك ب ن ع ب د ك ب ن أ م ت ك and I am weak and in need for Your mercy; ض ع يف ف ق ير إل ى ر ح م ت ك and You are the Pourer of wealth and bless on the servants (of You), و أ ن ت م ن ز ل ا ل غ ن ى و ال ب ر ك ة ع ل ى ال ع ب اد and You are omnipotent and full of power; ق اه ر م ق ت د ر as You have recorded all their (i.e. Your servants) deeds,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 23 أ ح ص ي ت أ ع م ال ه م and You have decided the sustenance of each one them, و ق س م ت أ ر ز اق ه م and You have made them of different languages and colors; in different stages of creation; و ج ع ل ت ه م م خ ت ل ف ة أ ل س ن ت ه م و أ ل و ان ه م خ ل قا م ن ب ع د خ ل ق Your servants can never attain Your knowledge, و ال ي ع ل م ال ع ب اد ع ل م ك and Your servants can never recognize the real estimate that is due to You و ال ي ق د ر ال ع ب اد ق د ر ك and all of us are needy for Your mercy; و ك ل ن ا ف ق ير إل ى ر ح م ت ك So, (please) do not turn Your Face away from me,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 24 ف ال ت ص ر ف ع ن ي و ج ه ك and include me with the virtuous creatures of You in deeds, hopes, and Your decisions (for me). و اج ع ل ن ي م ن ص ال ح ي خ ل ق ك ف ي ال ع م ل و األ م ل و ال ق ض اء و ال ق د ر. O Allah: (please) keep me alive in the best manner of living, الل ه م أ ب ق ن ي خ ي ر ال ب ق اء and decide for me to die in the best manner of death keeping loyal to Your representatives, و أ ف ن ن ي خ ي ر ال ف ن اء ع ل ى م و االة أ و ل ي ائ ك and incurring the enmity of Your enemies, و م ع اد اة أ ع د ائ ك and keeping desiring for You and fearing from You, و الر غ ب ة إل ي ك و الر ه ب ة م ن ك and submission, faithfulness, and compliance with You,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 25 و ال خ ش وع و ال و ف اء و الت س ل يم ل ك and keeping belief in Your Book و الت ص د يق ب ك ت اب ك and following Your Prophet s instructions. و ات ب اع س ن ة ر س ول ك. O Allah: as for whatever I bear in my heart, الل ه م م ا ك ان ف ي ق ل ب ي including suspicion or doubt م ن ش ك أ و ر يب ة or denial or despair أ و ج ح ود أ و ق ن وط or (excessive) joy or lavish expenditure or recklessness أ و ف ر ح أ و ب ذ خ أ و ب ط ر or pride or arrogance or ostentation أ و خ ي الء أ و ر ي اء أ و س م ع ة

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 26 or discord or hypocrisy أ و ش ق اق أ و ن ف اق or unbelief or licentiousness or disobedience أ و ك ف ر أ و ف س وق أ و ع ص ي ان or conceit or anything else that You do not like; أ و ع ظ م ة أ و ش ي ء ال ت ح ب I thus beseech You, O my Lord, to substitute all that with belief in Your promise ف أ س أ ل ك ي ا ر ب أ ن ت ب د ل ن ي م ك ان ه إيم ان ا ب و ع د ك and fulfilling of my covenant to You و و ف اء ب ع ه د ك and satisfaction with what You decide for me و ر ضا ب ق ض ائ ك and indifference to the worldly pleasures و ز ه دا ف ي الد ن ي ا

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 27 and desire for that which You have و ر غ ب ة ف يم ا ع ن د ك and altruism and tranquility and sincere repentance; و أ ث ر ة و ط م أ ن ين ة و ت و ب ة ن ص وحا I beseech You for all that, O the Lord of the worlds. أ س أ ل ك ذل ك ي ا ال ع ال م ين. ر ب O my God: because You are so forbearing, You are disobeyed as if You are not present, إله ي أ ن ت م ن ح ل م ك ت ع ص ى ف ك أ ن ك ل م ت ر and because You are so generous and magnanimous, You are obeyed as if You have not been disobeyed at all و م ن ك ر م ك و ج ود ك ت ط اع ف ك أ ن ك ل م ت ع ص Both those who have not disobeyed You and I are the inhabitants of Your lands; و أ ن ا و م ن ل م ي ع ص ك س ك ان أ ر ض ك So, (please) confer magnanimously upon us with Your favors

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 28 ف ك ن ع ل ي ن ا ب ا ل ف ض ل ج و ادا and always refer to us with Your goodness و ب ال خ ي ر ع و ادا O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. ي ا أ ر ح م الر اح م ين May Allah bless Mu ammad and his Household with endless blessings و ص ل ى الل ه ع ل ى م ح م د و آل ه ص الة د ائ م ة that are innumerable, uncountable, and none can do it save You, ال ت ح ص ى و ال ت ع د و ال ي ق د ر ق د ر ه ا غ ي ر ك O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. ي ا أ ر ح م الر اح م ين.

Dua after Maghrib Prayer for the First Night of Ramadhan It is recommended to say the following supplication while raising the hands after the Maghrib Prayer. The supplication has been reported in al-iqb l from Imam Mu ammad and Jaw d (al-taq ) peace be upon him: الل ه م ي ا م ن ي م ل ك الت د ب ير O Allah: O He Who controls the management of all affairs; و ه و ع ل ى ك ل ش ي ء ق د ير and He has power over all things. ي ا م ن ي ع ل م خ ائ ن ة األ ع ي ن O He Who knows the stealth of looks و م ا ت خ ف ي الص د ور و ت ج ن الض م ير and that which breasts conceal and that which selves hide; و ه و الل ط يف الخ ب ير. and He is the Knower of subtiles, the Aware. الل ه م اج ع ل ن ا م م ن ن و ى ف ع م ل

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 30 O Allah: (please do) include us with those who intend and carried out their intentions; و ال ت ج ع ل ن ا م م ن ش ق ي ف ك س ل and do not include us with those who are unhappy due to their laziness و ال م م ن ه و ع ل ى غ ي ر ع م ل ي ت ك ل. or with those who depend upon unreal hopes. الل ه م ص ح ح أ ب د ان ن ا م ن الع ل ل O Allah: (please do) cure our bodies from ailments و أ ع ن ا ع ل ى م ا اف ت ر ض ت ع ل ي ن ا م ن الع م ل and help us carry out the deeds that You have made incumbent upon us to do ح ت ى ي ن ق ض ي ع ن ا ش ه ر ك هذ ا و ق د أ د ي ن ا م ف ر وض ك ف يه ع ل ي ن ا. so that when this month, which is Your month, elapses, we shall have carried out all the duties that You have made obligatory upon us to do.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 31 الل ه م أ ع ن ا ع ل ى ص ي ام ه O Allah: (please do) help us observe fasting in this month; و و ف ق ن ا ل ق ي ام ه and guide us to practice the acts of worship (perfectly); و ن ش ط ن ا ف يه ل لص الة and grant us vigor to offer prayers; و ال ت ح ج ب ن ا م ن الق ر اء ة and do not preclude us from reciting (the Holy Qur' n); و س ه ل ل ن ا ف يه إيت اء الز ك اة. and make easy for us to give alms. الل ه م ال ت س ل ط ع ل ي ن ا و ص با و ال ت ع با O Allah: (please) do not inflict us with fatigue, tiredness, و ال س ق ما و ال ع ط با.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 33 is neither bad nor forbidden; و اج ع ل ر ز ق ك ل ن ا ح الال ال ي ش وب ه د ن س و ال أ س ق ام and (please do) make the sustenance that You decide for us be legal, carrying neither filth nor diseases. ي ا م ن ع ل م ه ب الس ر ك ع ل م ه ب اإلع الن O He Who knows the secret in the same was as He knows the public; ي ا م ت ف ض ال ع ل ى ع ب اد ه ب اإلح س ان O He Who confers upon His servants with benevolence; ي ا م ن ه و ع ل ى ك ل ش ي ء ق د ير O He Who has power over all things و ب ك ل ش ي ء ع ل يم خ ب ير and has acquaintance with all things; أ ل ه م ن ا ذ ك ر ك (please do) bestow upon us with (ceaseless) reference

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 35 and He save Whom none can relieve from hardships; ي ا أ ر ح م الر اح م ين O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy و أ ك ر م األ ك ر م ين and the most Generous of all those who show generosity; ص ل ع ل ى م ح م د و أ ه ل ب ي ت ه الط ي ب ين (please do) send blessings upon Mu ammad and his Household the pure; و اج ع ل ص ي ام ن ا م ق ب وال and decide our fasting as acceptable و ب الب ر و الت ق و ى م و ص وال and as connected to piety and godliness. و ك ذل ك ف اج ع ل س ع ي ن ا م ش ك ورا And, similarly, (please do) decide our efforts as praiseworthy, و ق ي ام ن ا م ب ر ورا

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 36 our acts of worship as admissible, و ق ر آن ن ا م ر ف وعا our reciting of the Qur' n as raised (to the heavens), و د ع اء ن ا م س م وعا and our supplications as responded. و اه د ن ا ل ل ح س ن ى And (please do) guide us to the most excellent way; و ج ن ب ن ا الع س ر ى and save us from difficulties; و ي س ر ن ا ل ل ي س ر ى and facilitate for us the easy end; و أ ع ل ل ن ا الد ر ج ات and elevate our ranks; و ض اع ف ل ن ا الح س ن ات and double the rewards for our good deeds; و اق ب ل م ن ا الص و م و الص الة

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 37 and accept our fasting and prayers; و اس م ع م ن ا الد ع و ات and react to our supplications; و اغ ف ر ل ن ا الخ ط يئ ات and forgive our sins; و ت ج او ز ع ن ا الس ي ئ ات And overlook our wrongdoings و اج ع ل ن ا م ن الع ام ل ين الف ائ ز ين and make us of the successful worshippers; و ال ت ج ع ل ن ا م ن الم غ ض وب ع ل ي ه م و ال الض ال ين and do not include us with those who earn Your anger nor of those who go astray, ح ت ى ي ن ق ض ي ش ه ر ر م ض ان ع ن ا so that when the month of Rama n elapses, و ق د ق ب ل ت ف يه ص ي ام ن ا و ق ي ام ن ا

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 38 You shall have accepted our fasting and acts of worship, و ز ك ي ت ف يه أ ع م ال ن ا blessed our deeds, و غ ف ر ت ف يه ذ ن وب ن ا forgiven our sins, و أ ج ز ل ت ف يه م ن ك ل خ ي ر ن ص يب ن ا and doubled our shares from all good things. ف إن ك اإلله الم ج يب Verily, You are the God Who responds, و الر ب الق ر يب the Lord Who is Nigh, And you encompass all things - و أ ن ت ب ك ل ش ي ء م ح يط. -

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 39 Dua of Imam Ja far Sadiq for the 1st Night of Ramadhan It is recommended to say the following supplication that is reported from Imam Ja`far al- diq (a.s) as is mentioned in the book of al-iqb l : الل ه م ر ب ش ه ر ر م ض ان O Allah, the Lord of the month of Rama n, م ن ز ل الق ر آن the Revealer of the Qur' n هذ ا ش ه ر ر م ض ان This is the month of Rama n ال ذ ي أ ن ز ل ت ف يه الق ر آن in which You revealed the Qur' n و أ ن ز ل ت ف يه آي ات ب ي ن ات م ن اله د ى و الف ر ق ان. And revealed therein chapters of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong).

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 40 الل ه م ار ز ق ن ا ص ي ام ه O Allah: make us observe fast in its days و أ ع ن ا ع ل ى ق ي ام ه. and remain awake in its nights to pray. الل ه م س ل م ه ل ن ا O Allah: let it be peaceful for us, و س ل م ن ا ف يه keep us in sound condition for it, و ت س ل م ه م ن ا ف ي ي س ر م ن ك و م ع اف اة let it take upon itself the supervision of our affairs to give us ease and well-being و اج ع ل ف يم ا ت ق ض ي و ت ق د ر and while taking decisions, م ن األ م ر الم ح ت وم From among Your inevitable decisions و ف يم ا ت ف ر ق م ن األ م ر الح ك يم

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 41 And from among that which You decide from the wise affairs, ف ي ل ي ل ة الق د ر At the Grand Night م ن الق ض اء ال ذ ي ال ي ر د و ال ي ب د ل From the act that is neither rejected nor altered, أ ن ت ك ت ب ن ي م ن ح ج اج ب ي ت ك الح ر ام write my name in the list of those pilgrims of Your Sacred House الم ب ر ور ح ج ه م whose pilgrimage receives Your approval, الم ش ك ور س ع ي ه م whose efforts are appreciated, الم غ ف ور ذ ن وب ه م whose sins are forgiven, الم ك ف ر ع ن ه م س ي ئ ات ه م whose wrongdoings are overlooked,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 42 و اج ع ل ف يم ا ت ق ض ي و ت ق د ر and while making decisions and rendering possible things and events أ ن ت ط يل ل ي ف ي ع م ر ي make possible for me long life, و ت و س ع ع ل ي م ن الر ز ق الح الل. and enough lawful means of livelihood.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 43 Dua to Welcome the Month of Ramadhan from Sahifa Sajjadiyah It is recommended to say the supplication number fortyfour of the al- a fah al-k milah al-sajj diyyah, which is as follows: ال حمد ل ل ه ال ذ ي هدانا ل حم د ه Praise belongs to Allah who guided us to His praise and placed us among the people of praise, ل نك ون إلح سان ه م ن الش اك ر ين that we might be among the thankful for His beneficence and ول يج ز ينا على ذل ك جزاء ال م ح س ن ين that He might recompense us for that with the recompense of the good-doers! وال حم د ل ل ه ال ذ ي And praise belongs to Allah who حبانا ب د ين ه showed favor to us through His religion,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 44 واخ تص نا ب م ل ت ه singled us out for His creed, and وسب لنا ف ي س ب ل إح سان ه directed us onto the roads of His beneficence, ل نس ل كها ب من ه إلى ر ض وان ه in order that through His kindness we might travel upon them to His good pleasure, حم دا يتقب ل ه م ن ا وير ضى ب ه عن ا a praise which He will accept from us and through which He will be pleased with us! وال حم د ل ل ه ال ذ ي جعل م ن ت ل ك الس ب ل شه ره And praise belongs to Allah who appointed among those roads His month, شه ر رمضان the month of Rama n,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 45 شه ر الص يام the month of fasting, وشه ر اإلس الم the month of submission, وشه ر الط ه ور the month of purity, وشه ر الت م ح يص the month of putting to test, وشه ر ال ق يام the month of standing in prayer, ال ذ ي أ ن ز ل ف يه ال ق ر آن ه د ى ل لن اس وبي نات م ن ال ه دى وال ف ر قان (in what the Qur' n was sent down as guidance to the people, and as signs of the Guidance and the Separator!) فأبان فض يلته على سائ ر الش ه ور ب ما جعل له

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 46 م ن ال ح ر مات ال مو ف ورة وال فضا ئ ل ال مش ه ورة He clarified its excellence over other months by the many sacred things and well-known excellencies which He placed therein, فحر م ف يه ما أحل ف ي غي ر ه إع ظاما for He made unlawful in it what He declared lawful in others to magnify it, وحجر ف يه ال مطاع م وال مشار ب إك راما He prohibited foods and drinks in it to honor it, and وجعل له وق تا بي نا He appointed for it a clear time ال ي ج يز جل وعز أن ي قد م قب له which He (majestic and mighty is He) allows not to be set forward and وال يق بل أن ي ؤخ ر عن ه accepts not to be placed behind. ث م فض ل لي لة واح دة م ن ليال يه على ليال ي

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 47 أل ف شه ر وسم اها لي لة ال قد ر Then He made one of its nights surpass the nights of a thousand months and named it the Night of Decree; تنز ل ال مالئ كة والر وح ف يها ب إذ ن رب ه م م ن ك ل أم ر (in it the angels and the Spirit descend by the leave of their Lord upon every command), سالم دائ م ال بركة إلى ط ل وع ال فج ر على م ن يشاء م ن ع باد ه ب ما أح كم م ن قضا ئ ه a peace constant in blessings until the rising of the dawn upon whomsoever He will of His servants according to the decision He has made firm. الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, وأل ه م نا مع ر فة فض ل ه inspire us with knowledge of its excellence,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 48 وإج الل ح ر مت ه veneration of its inviolability, and والت حف ظ م م ا حظر ت ف يه caution against what You have forbidden within it, وأع ن ا على ص يام ه ب كف ال جوار ح عن معاص يك واس ت ع مال ها ف يه ب ما ي ر ض يك and help us to fast in it by our restraining our limbs from acts of disobedience toward You and our employing them in that which pleases You, حت ى ال ن ص غ ي ب أس ماع نا إلى لغ و so that we lend not our ears to idle talk and وال ن س ر ع ب أب صار نا إلى له و hurry not with our eyes to diversion, وحت ى ال نب س ط أي د ينا إلى مح ظ ور we stretch not our hands toward the forbidden and وال نخ ط و ب أق دام نا إلى مح ج ور

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 49 stride not with our feet toward the prohibited, وحت ى ال تع ي ب ط ون نا ما أح لل ت إال our bellies hold only what You have made lawful and وال تن ط ق أل س نت نا ب ما مث ل ت إال our tongues speak only what You have exemplified, وال نتكل ف إال ما ي د ن ي م ن ثواب ك we undertake nothing but what brings close to Your reward and وال نتعاطى إال ال ذ ي يق ي م ن ع قاب ك pursue nothing but what protects from Your punishment! ث م خل ص ذل ك ك ل ه م ن Then rid all of that from ر ياء ال م را ئ ين the false show of the false showers and وس م عة ال م س م ع ين the fame seeking of the fame seekers,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 50 ال ن ش ر ك ف يه أحدا د ونك lest we associate therein anything with You or وال نب تغ ي ب ه م رادا س واك seek therein any object of desire but You! الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, وق ف نا ف يه على مواق يت الص لوات ال خم س in it make us attend to the appointed moments of the five prayers within ب ح د ود ها ال ت ي حد د ت the bounds You have set, وف ر وض ها ال ت ي فرض ت the obligations You have decreed, ووظا ئ ف ها ال ت ي وظ ف ت the duties You have assigned, and وأو قات ها ال ت ي وق ت

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 51 the times You have specified; and وأن ز ل نا ف يها من ز لة in the prayers make us alight in the station of ال م ص يب ين ل مناز ل ها the keepers of their stations, ال حاف ظ ين ألر كان ها the guardians of their pillars, ال م ؤد ين لها ف ي أو قات ها their performers in their times, على ما سن ه عب د ك ورس ول ك صلوات ك علي ه وآل ه ف ي ر ك وع ها وس ج ود ها وجم يع فواض ل ها على as Your servant and Your messenger set down in his Sunnah (Your blessings be upon him and his Household) in their bowings, their prostrations, and all their excellent acts,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 52 أتم الط ه ور وأس بغ ه with the most complete and ample ritual purity and وأب ين ال خ ش وع وأب لغ ه the most evident and intense humility! ووف ق نا ف يه Give us success in this month to ألن نص ل أر حامنا ب ال ب ر والص لة tighten our bonds of kin with devotion and gifts, وأن نتعاهد ج يراننا ب اإلف ضال وال عط ي ة attend to our neighbors with bestowal and giving, وأن ن خل ص أم والنا م ن الت ب عات rid our possessions from claims, وأن ن طه رها ب إخ راج الز كوات purify them through paying the alms, وأن ن راج ع من هاجرنا go back to him who has gone far from us,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 53 وأن ن ن ص ف من ظلمنا treat justly him who has wronged us, وأن ن سال م من عادانا make peace with him who shows enmity toward us حاشا من ع ود ي ف يك ولك (except him who is regarded as an enemy in You and for You, for he is فإن ه ال عد و ال ذ ي ال ن وال يه the enemy whom we will not befriend, وال ح ز ب ال ذ ي ال ن صاف يه the party whom we will not hold dear), and وأن نتقر ب إلي ك ف يه م ن األع مال الز اك ية ب ما ت طه ر نا ب ه م ن الذ ن وب seek nearness to You through blameless works which will purify us from sins and وتع ص م نا ف يه م م ا نس تأ ن ف م ن ال ع ي وب

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 54 preserve us from renewing faults, حت ى ال ي ور د علي ك أحد م ن مالئ كت ك إال د ون ما ن ور د م ن أب واب الط اعة لك وأن وا ع ال ق ر بة إلي ك so that none of Your angels will bring for You the kinds of obedience and sorts of nearness-seeking unless they be less than what we bring! الل ه م إن ي أس أل ك O Allah, I ask You ب حق هذا الش ه ر by the right of this month وب حق من تعب د لك ف يه and by the right of him who worships You within it م ن اب ت دائ ه إلى وق ت فنا ئ ه from its beginning to the time of its passing, م ن ملك قر ب ته

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 55 whether angel You have brought nigh to You, أو نب ي أر سل ته prophet You have sent, أو عب د صال ح اخ تصص ته or righteous servant You have singled out, أن ت صل ي على م حم د وآل ه that You bless Muhammad and his Household, وأه ل نا ف يه ل ما وعد ت أو ل ياءك م ن كرامت ك make us worthy of the generosity You have promised وأو ج ب لنا ف يه ما أو جب ت أله ل ال م بالغة ف ي طاعت ك make incumbent for us what You have made incumbent for those who go to great lengths in obeying You, and واج عل نا ف ي نظ م من اس تحق الر ف يع األع لى ب رح مت ك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 56 place us in the ranks of those who deserve through Your mercy the highest elevation! الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, وجن ب نا اإلل حاد ف ي تو ح يد ك Turn us aside from deviation in professing Your Unity, والت ق ص ير ف ي تم ج يد ك falling short in magnifying You, والش ك ف ي د ين ك doubt in Your religion, وال عمى عن سب يل ك blindness toward Your path, واإلغ فال ل ح ر مت ك heedlessness of Your inviolability, and واإل ن خ داع ل عد و ك الش ي طان الر ج يم being deceived by Your enemy, the accursed Satan!

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 57 الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, and وإذا كان لك ف ي ك ل لي لة م ن ليال ي شه ر نا هذا ر قاب ي ع ت ق ها عف و ك أو يهب ها صف ح ك when in every night of this month's nights You have necks which Your pardon will release and Your forgiveness disregard, فاج عل ر قابنا م ن ت ل ك الر قاب place our necks among those necks and واج عل نا ل شه ر نا م ن خي ر أه ل وأص حاب place us among the best folk and companions of this our month! الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, وام حق ذ ن وبنا مع إم حاق ه الل ه efface our sins along with the effacing of its crescent moon, and

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 58 واس لخ عن ا تب عات نا مع ان س الخ أي ام ه make us pass forth from the ill effects of our acts with the passing of its days, حت ى ين قض ي عن ا وقد until it leaves us behind, while within it You have صف ي تنا ف يه م ن ال خط يئات purified us of offenses and وأخ لص تنا ف يه م ن الس ي ئات rid us of evil deeds! الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, and وإن م ل نا ف يه فعد ل نا should we go off to one side in this month, set us a right; وإن ز غ نا ف يه فقو م نا should we swerve, point us straight; and

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 59 وإن اش تمل علي نا عد و ك الش ي طان فاس تن ق ذ نا م ن ه should Your enemy Satan enwrap us, rescue us from him! الل ه م اش حن ه ب ع بادت نا إي اك O Allah, fill this month with our worship of You, وزي ن أو قاته ب طاعت نا لك adorn its times with our obedience toward You, وأع ن ا ف ي نهار ه على ص يام ه وف ي لي ل ه على help us during its daytime with its fast, and in its night with prayer and الص الة والت ضر ع إلي ك pleading toward You, وال خ ش وع لك humility toward You, والذ ل ة بي ن يدي ك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 60 and lowliness before You, حت ى ال يش هد نهار ه علي نا ب غف لة وال لي ل ه ب تف ر يط so that its daytime may not bear witness against our heedlessness, nor its night against our neglect! الل ه م O Allah, واج عل نا ف ي سائ ر الش ه ور واألي ام كذل ك ما عم ر تنا make us like this in the other months and days as long as You givest us life, and واج عل نا م ن ع باد ك الص ال ح ين place us among Your righteous servants, ال ذ ين ير ث ون ال ف ر دو س ه م ف يها خال د ون (those who shall inherit Paradise, therein dwelling forever),

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 61 وال ذ ين ي ؤ ت ون ما آتو ا وق ل وب ه م وج لة أن ه م إلى رب ه م راج ع ون those who give what they give, while their hearts quake, that they are returning to their Lord), وم ن ال ذ ين ي سار ع ون ف ي ال خي رات وه م لها ساب ق ون those (who vie in good works, outracing to them!) الل ه م صل على م حم د وآل ه O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household ف ي ك ل وق ت وك ل أوان in every time, in moments, and all وعلى ك ل حال in every state, عدد ما صل ي ت على من صل ي ت علي ه to the number that You have blessed whomsoever You have blessed and

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 62 وأض عاف ذل ك ك ل ه ب األض عاف ال ت ي ال ي ح ص يها غي ر ك to multiples of all that, through multiples which none can count but You! إن ك فع ال ل ما ت ر يد. Surely You art Accomplisher of what You desirest.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 63 Another Dua for the 1 st Night of Ramadhan It is recommended to say the following supplication that is mentioned by Sayyid Ibn ± w s in Iqb l al-a`m l : ه ذا ش ه ر إ ن ا لل ه م ر م ضان O Allah: This month of Rama n, ال ق ر آن ف يه أ ن ز ل ت ا ل ذي in which You revealed the Qur' n, ه دى ل لن اس و ب ي نات م ن ال ه دى و ال ف ر ق ان As guidance for people and clear proofs of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong), ق د ح ض ر. Has commenced. أعوذ يا ر ب ب ك فيه م ن الش ي طان الر جيم O Allah: in this month, I seek Your protection against Satan, the accursed, و م ن م ك ر ه و ح ي ل ه

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 64 And against his tricks and his ruses, و خ داع ه و ح بائ ل ه And his deception and his trickeries, و ج نود ه و خ يل ه And his parties and his riding forces, و ر ج ل ه و و ساو س ه And his on foot forces and his evil inspirations, ال ه دى ب ع د الض الل و م ن And against straying off after being guided, اإليمان ب ع د الك ف ر و م ن And against atheism after belief, الن فاق و م ن و الر ياء و الج نايات And against hypocrisy and showing off and felonies, و م ن ش ر الو س واس الخ ن اس And against the evil of the whisperings of the slinking Devil,

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 65 ال ذي ي و س و س في ص دور الن اس Who whispers into the hearts of men; الج ن ة م ن و الن اس. From among the jinn and the men. الل ه م و ار ز ق ني ص يام ه و ق يام ه O Allah: and confer upon me with the fasting and the doing of acts of worship during this month, فيه و الع م ل ب طاع ت ك And with the doing of acts of obedience to You, و طاع ة ر سول ك و أ ولي األ م ر And to Your Messenger and the Men in Authority, و ع ل يه م ع ل يه الس الم May peace be upon him and them, و ما ق ر ب م ن ك And the doing of whatever act that takes me near You, و ج ن ب ني م عاص يك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 66 And (please) take me away from acts of disobedience to You. و ار ز ق ني فيه جاب ة. و إل ا ناب ة و إل ا الت و ب ة And confer upon me in this month with repentance, turning to You, and responding to Your instructions. ع ذ ني فيه وأ الغيب ة م ن و الك س ل و الف ش ل And protect me in it against backbiting and lethargy and failure. و اس ت ج ب لي فيه الد عاء And respond my prayers in it. وأ ص ح لي فيه ج سمي و ع ق ي ل And grant me well-being for my body and my intellect. و ف ر غ ني فيه ل طاع ت ك و ما ق ر ب م نك And grant me time to do acts of obedience to You as well as acts that take me near You. يا ك ريم يا ج واد. O the All-generous; O the All-magnanimous.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 67 يا ك ريم O the All-generous: ص ل ع لى م ح م د و ع ى ل أ ه ل ب ي ت م ح م د (please) send blessings upon Mu ammad and the Household of Mu ammad, و ع ل يه م ع ل يه الس الم Peace be upon him and them, ب نا ف اف ع ل ك و كذا ل And do all that to us, أ ر ح م يا الر اح مين. O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 68 According to a ad th, the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to say this supplication at the beginning of Rama n: الل ه م إ ن ه ق د د خ ل ش ه ر ر م ض ان. O Allah: Surely, the month of Rama n has begun. الل ه م ر ب ش ه ر ر م ض ان O Allah; O the Lord of the month of Rama n ال ذ ي أ ن ز ل ت ف يه الق ر آن in which You have revealed the Qur' n و ج ع ل ت ه ب ي ن ات م ن اله د ى و الف ر ق ان. making it a guidance to people and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction. الل ه م ف ب ار ك ل ن ا ف ي ش ه ر ر م ض ان So, O Allah, please bless us in the month of Rama n, و أ ع ن ا ع ل ى ص ي ام ه و ص ل و ات ه help us observe fasting and offer prayers in it, و ت ق ب ل ه م ن ا. and accept from us.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 69 The Holy Prophet (a.s) is also reported to have said the following supplication at the first night of Rama n: الح م د ل ل ه ال ذ ي أ ك ر م ن ا ب ك All praise be to Allah Who has honored us with you أ ي ه ا الش ه ر الم ب ار ك. the blessed month. الل ه م ف ق و ن ا ع ل ى ص ي ام ن ا و ق ي ام ن ا O Allah: (please do) grant us strength to observe fasting and practice acts of worship in this month; و ث ب ت أ ق د ام ن ا and make our steps firm و ان ص ر ن ا ع ل ى الق و م الك اف ر ين. and assist us against the unbelieving people. الل ه م أ ن ت الو اح د ف ال و ل د ل ك O Allah: You are surely the One; therefore, You have not son.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 70 و أ ن ت الص م د ف ال ش ب ه ل ك And You are the eternally Besought of all; therefore, nothing is like You. و أ ن ت الع ز يز ف ال ي ع ز ك ش ي ء And You are the Almighty; therefore; nothing can overcome You. و أ ن ت الغ ن ي و أ ن ا الف ق ير And You are the Self-sufficient while I am poor. و أ ن ت الم و ل ى و أ ن ا الع ب د And You are the Master while I am (Your) slave. و أ ن ت الغ ف ور و أ ن ا الم ذ ن ب And You are the All-forgiving while I am guilty. و أ ن ت الر ح يم و أ ن ا الم خ ط ئ And You are the All-merciful while I am mistaken. و أ ن ت الخ ال ق و أ ن ا الم خ ل وق And You are the Creator while I am (Your) creature.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 73 ال ح ر ام س ب يال And to choose for me a way to Your Holy House this year: ح ج ة م ب ر ور ة م ت ق ب ل ة ز اك ية خ ال ص ة ل ك A pilgrimage that is admitted, accepted, pure, and sincerely for You ت ق ر ب ه ا ع ي ن ي By which You delight me, و ت ر ف ع ب ه ا د ر ج ت ي And raise my rank with You و ت ر ز ق ن ي أ ن أ غ ض ب ص ر ي And to confer upon me with the grace of making me cast my sight down (against what is illegal for me to look at) و أ ن أ ح ف ظ ف ر ج ي And making me act chastely و أ ن أ ك ف ب ه ا ع ن ج م يع م ح ار م ك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 74 And making me stop committing any deed that You have deemed unlawful ح ت ى ال ي ك ون ش ي ء آث ر ع ن د ي م ن ط اع ت ك و خ ش ي ت ك So that nothing will be more preferred in my sight than the obedience to You and the fear of You و ال ع م ل ب م ا أ ح ب ب ت And doing all that which You love, و الت ر ك ل م ا ك ر ه ت و ن ه ي ت ع ن ه And avoiding all that which You have detested and warned against. و اج ع ل ذل ك ف ي ي س ر و ي س ار و ع اف ي ة و م ا أ ن ع م ت ب ه ع ل ي And (please) make all that take place with easiness, lenience, and good health as well as the grave that You have bestowed upon me. و أ س أ ل ك أ ن ت ج ع ل و ف ات ي ق ت ال ف ي س ب يل ك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 75 And I beseech You to cause me to die as martyr for Your sake, ت ح ت ر اي ة ن ب ي ك م ع أ و ل ي ائ ك Under the pennon of Your Prophet and in the line of Your intimate servants. و أ س أ ل ك أ ن ت ق ت ل ب ي أ ع د اء ك و أ ع د اء ر س ول ك And I ask You to make me the means of killing Your enemies and the enemies of Your Messenger. و أ س أ ل ك أ ن ت ك ر م ن ي ب ه و ان م ن ش ئ ت م ن خ ل ق ك And I ask You to honor me through humiliating any one of Your created beings that You choose, و ال ت ه ن ي ب ك ر ام ة أ ح د م ن أ و ل ي ائ ك. Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 79 mercy and compassion then look at him with love and pleasure; becoming so happy and pleased with him that after that He should never become unhappy and angry with him, should regard him as His sincere friend and worthy servant... O' my masters! Please beseech Allah (the Glorious, the Exalted), to bestow upon me these things; He will accept your prayer and intercession, because your splendour and majesty, and your worth and prestige before Him is far greater than what could be perceived by the human mind and understanding. I swear to you by your splendour and majesty, which Allah (the Glorious, the Exalted), has bestowed upon you, to look towards me with kindness وأن ينظر إلي نظارة رحيمة بها عن ي رضاا ال سخط علاي بعاده أبااادا ويلحقناااي بشيعتكم المقر بين وأوليائكم السابقين فإن ه ال يرد شفاعتك فإن لك عند ا شأنا من الشأن وقدرا من القدر فبحاق هاذا الشأن الذي جعل ا لك يا موالي أساألك أن تسمح في حق ي بماا سا ألتك وتزيا دني بمقدار كرامتك

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 81 exalted ones, generosity to the generous ones, and benevolence to the benevolent ones; if there is a discussion about the benevolence you are the first and the last as well as the roots and the branches if there is a discussion about the magnanimity and greatness you are their fountainhead; you are the ones who never returned any one hopeless and emptyhanded as you yourself have proclaimed: "Your generosity and reward like rain water pour upon the righteous ones as well as upon the bad ones, likewise;" do not deprive me from the rain of your generosity عل متم الكارام آداب الكراما ة واألجا واد شيم الجود والسماحة إن ذكر الجود كناتم أو له وآخره وأصاله وفرعه ومنتهاه وإن قيل الكرم فأنتم معدنه ومأواه ال ياارد سااائلكم وال يخيب آملكم. سادتي أناتم الاذين قلتم مثل المعاروف مثال المطر يصايب البار والفاجر فال تمنعوني سحائب رافتكم

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 82 saturate me with the rain of your generosity, ( do not deprive me from the pouring of your love ) because I am thirsty for your generosity and hungry for your love and affection; you don't like that your guests who have taken shelter in your threshold and have tied their hopes upon your benevolence should remain thirsty and hungry. O' my masters! If you will deprive me from your hospitality I will die with hunger under your shelter sitting upon the side of your tablecloth. No! No! You wouldn't treat me in this manner; you are not the ones who would deprive the guests from your hospitality so that he would return heart-broken, hopeless and hungry. Never! Never! فليصاابني أمطااار جودكم فا إن ي ما ن جا ودكم جائع ومن كارمكم ظمآن ال ترضوا لضيفكم أن يبيات فاي حمااكم جائعا ضمآنا فأنت يا موالي متاى ما منعتني قراك بت طاوياا فاي حمااك ووصلت إلى الهالك حاشا اك ما ن ها ذه المعاملة مع ضايفك ثم حاشاك.

Amaal for the 1 st of Ramadhan 83 Dua before Reciting the Holy Qur an It is highly advisable to recite the Holy Qur' n very frequently at the first hours of Rama n.
