System: LCR-100 AHRS Part Number: 145130-1XXX 145130-2XXX 145130-3XXX SUBJECT: Update of LCR-100 Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) to World Magnetic Model 2015 TO: TC/STC Holders, Airframe OEMs, Systems OEMs, Customers, Operators and Maintenance Personnel of above mentioned AHRS 1 Reason This Service Information Letter (SIL) is to inform TC/STC Holders, Airframe and System OEMs, Customers, Operators and Maintenance Personnel about the availability of a possible update of LCR-100 Gyrocompassing AHRS (PNs 145130-1XXX, 145130-2XXX and 145130-3XXX) with the NOAA World Magnetic Model 2015 (WMM2015). The WMM is used in the AHRS to determine the magnetic variation at the current geographical position. The magnetic variation is utilized to calculate the magnetic heading out of the true heading determined by the Gyrocompassing function on ground and then further propagated in the system s navigation mode. The above mentioned LCR-100 versions utilize by default following NOAA World Magnetic Models (WMM20XX): AHRS with IDM Default WMM 145130-1XXX 124282-0000 WMM2005 145130-1XXX 124282-2100 WMM2010 145130-2XXX 124282-0000 WMM2005 145130-2XXX 124282-2100 WMM2010 145130-3XXX 124282-2100 WMM2010 Section 7 of this document shows maps indicating the differences of the magnetic variation between the usage of WMM2005 and the usage of WMM2015 beginning from 2015 to 2020. The update to WMM2015 might be of interest for operators. Prerequisite for the Upgrade to the LCR-100 to use WMM2015 are: LCR-100 production standard MOD 25 or higher. New Installation Data Module (CALPROM) 124282-2200. Level One Maintenance Set (L1MS) with SW 1300 or higher. SIL-145130-0019-845 Issue A, 2-April 2015 Page 1 / 28
The WMM update will be performed by connecting a new Installation Data Module (IDM) PN 124282-2200. This IDM contains the WMM2015 by factory setting. Programmed IDM User Data (Tray Alignment, MSU Compensation, Lever Arms, etc.) can be copied into the new IDM by usage of the Level One Maintenance Set (L1MS) 309946-0000, -0100, 0500 or -0501. NOTE: Make certain when updating the programmed data that the updated IDM is reinstalled in the same position (e.g. installation tray) like the original removed IDM. The alignment and lever-arm data are specifically matched with the position of the install tray. 2 Effectivity The capability to add WMM2015 has been introduced into production on AHRS 145130-1XXX, 145130-2XXX and 145130-3XXX and is identified as MOD 25 or higher. 3 Availability and Pricing The IDM PN 124282-2200 with embedded WMM2015 will be available for purchase by 1st October 2015. On request NG LITEF will provide a commercial proposal for the IDM 124282-2200. 4 Compliance THIS IS NOT A MANDATORY CHANGE. Addressees of this SIL must decide if a change to WMM2015 is of interest for their operation. Systems in the field returned for service or repair will not be upgraded automatically and will retain their current configuration/mod status, unless directed by the customer. There is no effect on weight, balance, structural strength, reliability, or other characteristics affecting the ETSO/TSO airworthiness of the LCR-100. The change is declared to be a Minor Change. TC/STC Holders, OEMs, and Operators should assess if changing to the new IDM will affect the current airworthiness approval of the installed system. 5 Reference Documents Installation Maintenance Instruction (IMI) 145130-0000-840 Rev. 7 Differences between NOAA WMM2005/2010 and WMM2015 This section illustrates the maps indicating the differences of the magnetic variation between the usage of WMM2010 and WMM2015 (Case 1) as well as WMM2005 and WMM2015 (Cases 2, 2a and 2b) as described in section 1. Following table shows the affiliation of the LCR-100 AHRS identified by its Mod-status and the connected IDM and the appropriate map.
