In paricular, in some models, he rerograde display in he 12 o clock / 6 o clock posiion may be opposiely oriened from he illusraion above. SCREW LOCK TYPE CROWN u Some models may have a screw-lock mechanism ha can securely lock he crown by screw when hey are no being operaed. u Locking he crown will help o preven any operaional errors and enhance he waer resisan qualiy of he wach. u I is necessary o unlock he screw lock ype crown before operaing i. Once you have finished operaing he crown, make sure o relock i. l How o use he screw lock ype crown Keep he crown securely locked unless you need o operae i. SETTING THE TIME AND ADJUSTING THE STOPWATCH HAND POSITION l This wach is designed so ha he following adjusmens are made wih he crown a he second click posiion: 1) ime seing 2) sopwach hand posiion adjusmen Once he crown is pulled ou o he second click, be sure o make boh he above adjusmens 1) and 2) a he same ime. CROWN Pull ou o second click when he small second hand is a he 12 o clock posiion. 1. TIME SETTING Minue hand Hour hand 50 45 40 55 35 CROWN Turn o se he hour and minue hands. * When locking he crown, urn i slowly wih care, ensuring ha he screw is properly engaged. SETTING THE DATE l Before seing he dae, be sure o se he ime. 50 45 40 55 35 Dae CROWN Pull ou o firs click. Turn clockwise unil he desired dae appears. Push back in o normal posiion. 1. Dae seing should always be carried ou afer he ime is correcly se. 2. Manual dae adjusmen is required on he firs day afer a monh ha has less han 31 days: February, April, June, Sepember and November. 3. Do no se he dae during any ime beween 9:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M. Dae seing during his ime period may cause failure of dae change on he following day. 11
STOPWATCH l The measured ime can be read up o 109 minues 59.8 seconds in 1/5-second incremens. l When he measuremen reaches 300 minues (5 hours), he sopwach auomaically sops couning. l Spli ime measuremen is possible. <How o read he sopwach hands> The measured ime is indicaed by he hree sopwach hands below. STOPWATCH 1-minue hand (Measured minue unil 10 minues can be read in 1-minue incremens.) STOPWATCH 1/5-second hand <Remarks on he STOPWATCH 1-minue hand and STOPWATCH 10-minue hand> When he STOPWATCH 1-minue hand reaches he 10-minue graduaion, i insananeously reurns o he 0-minue posiion. A he same ime, he STOPWATCH 10-minue hand advances o he nex graduaion. When he measuremen reaches 110 minues (or 210 minues), he STOPWATCH 10-minue hand insananeously reurns o he 10-minue posiion. When he measuremen reaches 300 minues (5 hours), he sopwach auomaically sops couning. The final posiion of he STOPWATCH hands, afer compleing 300 minues (5 hours) of couning, is illusraed below. Before saring o use he sopwach again, make sure o rese he sopwach by pressing Buon B. Rese he sopwach. * Refer o "sopwach" secion of his manual. 2. Press Buon B for 3 seconds or longer. * The sopwach second hand moves a high speed, and he STOPWATCH 1-minue hand and STOPWATCH 10-minue hand move in reciprocaing moion respecively. B TACHYMETER (for models wih achymeer scale) To measure he hourly average speed of a vehicle 1 2 U s e h e s o p w a c h o deermine how many seconds i akes o go 1 km or 1 mile. Tachymeer scale indicaed by STOPWATCH 1/5-second hand gives he average speed per hour. Ex. 1 STOPWATCH 1/5-second hand: 40 seconds Tachymeer scale: 90 90 (achymeer scale figure) x 1 (km or mile) = 90 km/h or mph l Tachymeer scale can be used only when he ime required is less han 60 seconds. 16 * Afer approximaely 7 seconds, he demonsraion finishes, and he sopwach is rese for he nex use. * If eiher Buon A or B is pressed during a demonsraion, he demonsraion will be sopped and he sopwach will be rese. To measure he hourly rae of operaion 1 2 Use he sopwach o measure he ime required o complee 1 job. Tachymeer scale indicaed by STOPWATCH 1/5-second hand gives he average number of jobs accomplished per hour. Ex. 1 STOP- WATCH 1/5-second hand: 20 seconds Tachymeer scale: 180 180 (achymeer scale figure) x 1 job = 180 jobs/hour TELEMETER (for models wih elemeer scale) l The elemeer can provide a rough indicaion of he disance o he source of ligh and sound. l The elemeer indicaes he disance from your locaion o an objec ha emis boh ligh and sound. For example, i can indicae he disance o he place where lighning sruck by measuring he ime elapsed afer you see a flash of lighning unil you hear he sound. l A flash of lighning reaches you almos immediaely while he sound ravels o you a a speed of 0.33 km/second. The disance o he source of he ligh and sound can be calculaed on he basis of his difference. l The elemeer scale is so graduaed ha he sound ravels a a speed of 1 km in 3 seconds.* *Under he condiion of emperaure of 20 C(68 F). Ex. 2: If 15 jobs are compleed in 20 seconds: 180 (achymeer scale figure) x 15 jobs = 2700 jobs/hour CAUTION 18 The elemeer provides only a rough indicaion of he disance o he place where lighning sruck, and herefore, he indicaion canno be used as he guideline o avoid he danger of lighning. HOW TO USE THE TELEMETER Before beginning, check ha he sopwach has been rese. START (Flash of ligh) STOP (Crash of hunder) 1 2 Press buon A o sar he sopwach as soon as you see he ligh. W h e n you h e ar h e sound, press buon A o sop he sopwach. BATTERY CHANGE 3 Years The miniaure baery which powers your wach should las approximaely 3 years. However, because he baery is insered a he facory o check he funcion and performance of he wach, is acual life once in your possession may be less han he specified period. When he baery expires, be sure o replace i as soon as possible o preven any malfuncion. For baery replacemen, we recommend ha you conac an AUTHORIZED SEIKO DEALER and reques SEIKO SR927SW baery. * If he sopwach is used more han 5 hours per day, he baery life may be less han he specified period. 20 Approx. 3 km R e a d h e e l e m e e r scale ha he sopwach 1/5-secondhand poins o. * Please noe ha he sopwach second hand moves in 1/5-second incremens and does no always poin exacly o he graduaions of he elemeer scale. The elemeer scale can be used only when he measured ime is less han 60 seconds. 3 l Baery life indicaor When he baery nears is end, he small second hand moves a wosecond inervals insead of normal one-second inervals. In ha case, have he baery replaced wih a new one as soon as possible. * The wach remains accurae while he small second hand is moving a wo-second inervals. 21
WARNING l Do no remove he baery from he wach. l If i is necessary o ake ou he baery, keep i ou of he reach of children. If a child swallows i, consul a docor immediaely. CAUTION l Never shor-circui, amper wih or hea he baery, and never expose i o fire. The baery may burs, become very ho or cach fire. l The baery is no rechargeable. Never aemp o recharge i, as his may cause baery leakage or damage o he baery. Necessary procedure afer baery change Afer he baery is replaced wih a new one, or when an abnormal display appears, follow he procedures below o rese he buil-in IC. The wach will resume is normal operaion. l HOW TO RESET THE IC 1. Pull ou he crown o he second click. 2. Press buon A and B a he same ime for 2 seconds or longer. 3. TROUBLESHOOTING Trouble The wach sops operaing. The small second hand moves in 2-second incremens. Possible causes The baery has run down. The baery nears is end. Soluions Have he baery replaced wih a new one immediaely by he reailer from whom he wach was purchased. The wach emporarily gains or loses ime. The STOPWATCH hands do no reurn o he 0 posiion when he sopwach is rese. The inner surface of he glass is clouded. The dae changes a 12 o clock noon. The wach has been lef or worn in exremely high or low emperaures. The wach has been lef close o an objec wih a srong magneic field. You drop he wach, hi i agains a hard surface, or wear i while playing acive spors. The wach is exposed o srong vibraions. The wach has been affeced by magneism or exposed o srong shocks or vibraions. Moisure has enered he wach because he gaske has deerioraed. AM/PM is no properly se. Reurn he wach o a normal emperaure so ha i works accuraely as usual, and hen rese he ime. The wach has been adjused so ha i works accuraely when i is worn on your wris under a normal emperaure range beween 5 ºC and 5 ºC. Correc his condiion by moving and keeping he wach away from he magneic source. If his acion does no correc he condiion, conac he reailer from whom he wach was purchased. Rese he ime. If he wach does no reurn o is normal accuracy afer reseing he ime, conac he reailer from whom he wach was purchased. Adjus he STOPWATCH hands o he 0 posiion by following he insrucions in SETTING THE TIME AND ADJUSTING THE STOPWATCH HAND POSITION. Conac he reailer from whom he wach was purchased.
