On behalf of American Legion Post 327 Family I want to welcome each Legionnaire, Auxiliary Unit, and SAL Squadron to the American Legion State Bowling Tournament. The tournament will be held on the 23 rd and 24 th of Feb 2013 at Gator Bowl Little Creek. We will bowl team event on Saturday the 23 rd at 8:00 am and 12:30 pm and singles and doubles on the 24 th at 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. On Sunday for the out of town bowlers there will be three to a lane so you can be on the road some time around 2:30 pm. The cost of bowling is located on the application for the tournament please type or print. Also, I ask that each team bring their yearbook so we will not have to take a long period of time to verify averages. We will have entertainment both Friday and Saturday evening for your enjoyment. Dinners will be available and the menu and cost is listed below. We would like a head count for the dinners to ensure we do not run out of food for our hungry guest. There is a block on you applications to say whether or not you will attend the dinners. Please let us know the numbers you desire. Last but not least no cash with applications, mail check or money order. Thank you for your support. The only down fall to the motels is that they are non-smoking rooms. If you have a balcony room you can smoke out on it. This is something we have to live with in Norfolk.
The American Legion Department of Virginia Tenpin Tournament Rules 2013 USBC Moral Support Certified 1. USBC Rules and Regulations will govern this tournament. 2. Only members in good standing of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion are eligible for this tournament. 3. A Legal Team Line-up must consist of at least one (1) member of the American Legion. Doubles may consist of any combination of eligible bowlers. 4. All prizes will be on a handicap basis. 100% of prize fees will be awarded. 5. There will be a cash prize for at least each ten (10) entries in Team, Single and Doubles. There will be one (1) cash prize awarded for each twenty (20) entries in All Events. Trophies will be awarded to the Sponsor of the winning Team, All-events Champion, Singles Events Champion, and Doubles Event winners. 6. All Events is an optional event. To be Eligible for All Events, a fee shall be designated by the Tournament Chairman. Fees must accompany the entry forms. 7. Handicap will be computed on an individual basis of 90% of the difference of the entrant s highest sanctioned average from the previous winter season and scratch of 210 pins. If no sanctioned average from previous winter season, the entrants handicap will be computed on the highest sanctioned average as of January 1 st 2013. Entrants having no acceptable entering average under the tournament rules must bowl scratch (210). No summer league averages will be acceptable. 8. Tournament prizes will not be awarded until the averages of all winners in each event has been verified by local association secretary or Local Association Year Book. PLEASE BRING A COPY OF YOUR ASSOCIATION YEAR BOOK. 9. All participants are required to show their USBC and American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion Cards. 10. Substitutes must present themselves to the Tournament Director at least one hour before they are scheduled to bowl. 11. Entrants may bowl only once in each event. Bowlers must enter Doubles and Singles, if entered in either. 12. Official Score: The telescore will be the official score during the game and the official tabulation sheet will then be audited and obvious errors will be corrected. Protests involving the score must be reported within twenty-four (24) hours. 13. All claims for prize money must be made within forty-five (45) days of receipt of prize list or such claims will be disallowed. 14. Both USBC and non-members may participate in this sanctioned tournament, with any award recognition extended to USBC members. Eligible non-members may qualify for USBC award recognition at their option by paying the respective fee by their congress and will be issued an unattached membership card. 15. Lanes will be assigned by the Tournament Director, according to entries. 16. All fees must accompany the entry form. All averages must be certified by your league secretary, team captain and bowler. All entries and fees MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE 31 ST OF JANUARY 2012. ENTRIES MUST BE COMPLETELY FILLED OUT. 17. Bowler s Responsibility for Average: USBC Manual is the responsibility of each bowler, whether originally submitted by the bowler, his Team Captain or others. Failure to use proper average or to make a correction prior to or at the completion of the first game of a series, shall disqualify score if submitted average is lower than actual average or base prize winning on submitted average if it is higher. No previous prize winnings need to be reported. 18. It is expected and requested that each participant give their fullest cooperation to the Tournament Director. Good sportsmanship and good etiquette will help your game and make for a more enjoyable tournament.
