2017 NCAA FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL GAME TWO QUOTES Oral Roberts University (No. 3 Seed) Head Coach Ryan Folmar Opening Statement I know a lot of people talked, coming in to this regional, about how competitive it might be and if day one is any indication of what is going to happen in the next couple, I ll tell you I think the fans that show up are going to have a pretty good treat. Their guy (Arkansas starter Trevor Stephan) was really good. I thought he was the difference in today s game. We knew coming in he was going to be good. On team s motivation entering Saturday s elimination game vs Oklahoma State There is not a whole lot you can say. I mean I don t think you need to motivate them. I think they understand the gravity of losing the first game of a tournament. The guys understand. They know what is going on. I don t think it s something we have to talk about On team s defense We made a couple of plays in the middle. The one big one was the stolen base. We had somebody picked off, and mishandled the ball in the middle of the field and it ends up costing us a run. When you re in a regional that is really good, the teams are really competitive, those small plays make a huge difference in the end of the night and that was a huge run in that moment. #15 Miguel Ausua, Jr., LHP Coming into this game I had a lot of confidence in myself and I know my teammates had a lot of confidence, too. I made a few mistakes, pitching wise. I think, like I always do, to go out there and pitch contact. I know I have my teammates backing me up, defensively. I really just go out there and compete to give my team the chance to win the game. #12 Dylan Snypes, Jr., SS We struck out 14 times. I think we have to have tougher at bats against good pitching like that, try and get him out of the game earlier. Leaving 10 runners, you ve got to take chances against that kind of team and score.

2017 NCAA FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL GAME TWO QUOTES University of Arkansas (No. 1 Seed) Head Coach Dave Van Horn Opening Statement Well first off, I just thought it was a very well pitched game by both teams. I thought (RHP) Trevor Stephan and (Oral Roberts LHP) Miguel Ausua went at it. It reminded me of a Friday night SEC game where maybe one big hit or mistake might be the difference. That second run we were very fortunate on that with the throw that kind of went back into the runner. Then we just dropped one in there to get that second run. That third run was huge. The pitching was outstanding. Trevor gave us every opportunity to get the lead. With the feel of the game, you knew it was going to be tight. And we re fortunate to get away with that win. On the bottom of the lineup tonight We feel good about our lineup having some depth. We feel like we can score every inning. We ve talked about that a lot. It doesn t have to be the top or the middle (of the lineup). We can get it done with the bottom as well. Some of the guys who hit at the bottom of the order hit at the top of the order earlier in the season. We ve moved guys around and kind of mixed and matched. Tonight, it paid off. On playing Oral Roberts in the first game Believe me, I haven t been looking forward to it. I thought about (the possibility of playing them) a lot during the SEC Tournament. That s a very physical team. I think I saw they have two sophomores in their lineup, four juniors and three seniors. A couple of those seniors are redshirt seniors that are probably 23 years old. That s an SEC team right there. Like I said earlier, I felt like it was a Friday night in the SEC. Again, I feel fortunate to have beaten them. #48 Trevor Stephan, Jr., RHP On his performance tonight, which included a career high 116 pitches That was definitely a career high (pitches) for me. I think the most I threw before that was 105. So it wasn t too much more. The night went pretty well there for the most part. I was kind of locked in early and then went through a little rough stretch there in the third and fourth. But then I found it again. So that was nice to find it again. On the pitching staff this season It s been huge with (pitching coach) Wes Johnson coming here. He preaches power fastballs. It s what he teaches. It s what he loves. I think that s kind of contagious, too, when you have all these pitcher competing against each other friendly competition we all enjoy it. On the energy inside Baum Stadium It s incredible. It gives you chills down the spine. It s awesome to be able to experience that here. It s a lot of fun. #7 Jack Kenley, Fr., 3B On keys to his performance over the last few weeks Honestly, I think I d give a lot of credit to my teammates. We have some really mature guys that really enjoy being around each other. One thing coach (Dave) Van Horn said when we got back from Hoover

2017 NCAA FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL GAME TWO QUOTES was that you have to want to be in that moment and be around the ballpark. That s one thing that I think we ve really focused on, enjoying being around each other. And I ve learned a lot from just being around (2B) Carson Shaddy, (C) Alex Gosser, who s just reminded me that it s a game and how to have fun. That s been the best thing for me and my approach, and it s helped me a lot. On scoring the first run of the game in the fifth inning I have a lot of confidence in my guys. I think just falling back on them, knowing if one guy can t get the job done, the next guy can get the job done. Like coach Van Horn said, we can score at any time. Even (1B) Chad Spanberger as hot as he is. I think just about everyone in the park knew something was going to happen with him at the plate. That gives me a lot of confidence on the base paths as well. So having that in the back of my head and knowing there s a huge potential for us to score in that moment helps a lot. It helps me have that little extra edge as well. So I can be there for Chad. On earning play time last week at the SEC Tournament It meant a lot, just the fact that I was being put in those situations where I could get some playing time and get some experience. It let me know that they had confidence in me. It meant a lot for me going forth, and it helped me define my role. Something coach (assistant coach) Tony Vitello says is sometimes the biggest thing you re competing against is just yourself how you can be the best version of yourself that day is how you ll succeed that day. The roles I was put in throughout the season helped me define that role as best I can for myself. I needed to try to raise my play just that much more. That s helped a lot.
