GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION This show is a regular member of the United States Equestrian Federation. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. ENTRIES: Entries close October 17, 2017 for the Great Southwest Equestrian Center Autumn Classic Horse Show and The Great Southwest Final Chase Horse Show. New entries (new or different horses) made after these dates will incur a one time late fee of $60.00. Every Entry Blank must have the signature of the owner/authorized agent, trainer & be accompanied by a stall check, open check or valid credit card information. It is the responsibility of the person making the entry to execute properly and complete all necessary information pertaining to each entry made in accordance with USEF rules. NO NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT AN OPEN CHECK OR VALID CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. There will be a $60.00 office/services fee for every horse on the show grounds. Management reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason. Horses, on the grounds, not entered in any classes, must have a completed entry blank on file in the office and will be charged a $100 non-showing fee per week. Horses not accruing a minimum of $100 in entry fees may be charged the non-showing fee in lieu of entry fees. *Warning: Horses that compete in a class in which they are not properly entered will be charged a double entry fee. Once a horse has competed in the first class of a National A rated hunter section the division entry fee cannot be refunded. *Attention foreign exhibitors: All fees MUST be paid in US Funds. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS RULE USEF GR845: 1. Horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers or veterinarian s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. COGGINS TEST: Texas law requires that each horse be accompanied by a negative EIA certificate dated within one year. PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR HORSES COGGINS TO YOUR ENTRY. STALLS: Permanent and temporary stabling will be available at a cost of $225 per week. Ship-ins will be charged a $55 ground/clean up fee per horse per day. Stalls will be available for move-in after 12:00pm on Monday, November 6, 2017 for Autumn Classic and Monday, November 13, 2017 for Final Chase unless prior arrangements are made. 12x12 and 10 X 10 permanent stalls (with doors) are available. Stalls must be returned to GSEC in the same condition upon move-in. All nails, hooks, etc. must be removed from stalls upon move-out. No sharing of stalls allowed. Each horse will be charged either a stall fee or a grounds fee. Shavings and feed are available for purchase on show grounds between 7am -5pm. NO outside Shavings Permitted. Violators will be charged $100 per stall. REFUNDS: STALL FEES CANNOT BE REFUNDED AFTER OCTOBER 17. Entry fees will not be refunded after October 17 unless a certificate of illness or injury prepared by an accredited veterinarian, or a doctor s note regarding rider illness/injury, is presented to the secretary before the start of the show. Once the show has started, proper notification of the scratch must be made in the office BEFORE the start of the classes being scratched. In either case the entry fees will be refunded less any nominating fees, stall fee, and an office processing charge of $60.00.

GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: A $50.00 SERVICE FEE OR 10% OF THE CHECK AMOUNT/CREDIT CARD CHARGE, WHICHEVER IS GREATER, WILL BE CHARGED FOR ALL RETURNED CHECKS AND/OR DECLINED CREDIT CARDS. Accounts that are not settled within five days with certified funds will be reported to USEF in accordance with USEF Rules. SETTLEMENT OF ACCOUNTS: All show accounts must be closed out at the end of each week. Any open entry accounts will be closed by management and a $60 processing fee will be added per entry. All questions about show accounts must be addressed within 48 hours of the conclusion of the show. Any mistakes or questions regarding your horse show account and/or prize money must be resolved within 48 hours by contacting the Horse Show Office. FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS PLEASE NOTE: You MUST have your credit card present at check out. CREDENTIALS: ALL EXHIBITORS IN ANY PONY, PONY EQUITATION, JUNIOR HUNTER OR AMATEUR SECTION MUST PRESENT THEIR CREDENTIALS (MEASUREMENT CARD OR AMATEUR CERTIFICATION) TO THE SHOW OFFICE BEFORE THEIR NUMBERS CAN BE RELEASED. Kindly send a photo copy of credentials with entry to facilitate processing. All horses or ponies without a valid measurement card will be measured at a designated time and place. Anyone not presenting valid membership credentials (USEF/USHJA) will have to fill out a USEF/USHJA Show Pass form and will be charged a $30.00 non-refundable show pass fee per organization. Amateur exhibitors must present valid Amateur Credentials. Only a parent will be exempt from the Federation non-member fee if signing as coach for his/her minor child. HORSE REGISTRATIONS: All horses competing in Federation non-breed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes (except those activities enumerated in GR901.9, items 1-9) must be properly identified and must obtain a Registration Number from USHJA. A registration number for each horse must be entered on all entry forms for licensed competitions. Proof of registration must be presented to the Show Secretary before numbers can be released. To be eligible for National, Regional or Zone Horse of the Year Awards, and to enter a USEF Computer Ranking List Class horses must also be registered with the USEF. Exception for USEF Computer Ranking List: Citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation need not have USEF Registration. USEF/USHJA FEES: Current USEF rules relating to drugs and medications will be enforced. Each horse entered must pay the $8.00 USEF Drug/Medication Fee plus an $8.00 USEF fee. Each horse entered will also be required to pay the USHJA Fee of $7.00. (Total USEF/USHJA Fees $23.00). ADDS/SCRATCHES: ALL ADDS MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE SHOW OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00pm THE DAY PRIOR TO THE CLASS. No Same Day Adds will be accepted. Scratches will be accepted at any time prior to the start of the class Scratch Fee may apply. Any scratches in the Derby after 5:00pm the night prior to the Class will incur a $35 Scratch Fee. HORSE/PONY MEASUR MENTS: Please advise the show office of any horses and/or ponies requiring measurement. Any horse/pony that cannot present a valid measurement card will be required to present themselves for measurement at the time/times posted in the show office. SCHOOLING: Hunter Rings will be open for schooling on the day prior to the show. Time permitting, rings may also be open before and after the show, each day, for hacking, times to be posted or announced. No manual poling; no offsets of any type may be used while schooling. Jumping will be permitted, in the rings, at scheduled times and only when medical personnel are on the grounds. HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED. ANIMAL WELFARE: We require that all horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion and should never be subject to mistreatment. Owners, trainers, riders and grooms, or their agents must use reasonable care in the handling and treatment of their horses whether owned or placed in their care for competition or for any other purpose. At all times, while the horse is on the show grounds, we will provide for the continuous well-being of the horse by vigorously enforcing the rules of the USEF which pertain to the welfare of the horse. USEF rules defining policy regarding abuse and use of whips will be strictly enforced. No poling, use of bamboo off-set or excessive use of the whip will be tolerated. The well being of the horse must be considered above the demands of the breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organizers, sponsors or officials. Violators may be subject to penalties pursuant to USEF rules. In the event of an acute and serious injury to or illness of a horse on competition grounds when the owner or trainer of the horse or agent of the owner is not present, after reasonable effort to contact that individual has been made, competition management, in consultation with a licensed equine veterinarian, may authorize the provision of emergency veterinary treatment of the horse. If competition management so authorizes treatment under the provisions of this rule, competition management and veterinarian are not liable for any resulting costs, damages, losses, claims or actions arising directly or indirectly from the treatment of the horse.

GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION DOGS: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs behaviors. Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards pursuant to rule GR 301. In addition, pursuant to facility regulations. Loose dogs will be removed by animal control, from the show grounds, at the owner s expense. CHANGES: Management reserves the right to change, cancel, or combine classes, alter courses and do all things necessary to compensate for excessive or inadequate entries. ATTIRE/HEADGEAR: All riders must be properly attired. Protective head gear must be worn BY ALL RIDERS AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED, anywhere, anytime on the show grounds. Headgear for all riders must meet or exceed ASTM Standards; must carry the SEI tag; and be properly secured by a harness. JUMPERS: Ties in jumper classes will jump off for first place only. Ties for all other places will be determined by first round time. Champion and Reserve will be determined using the USEF Bonus Point system. Bonus Points will apply to the class indicated for each section. NOMINATING FEE: Horses competing in all 1.20 Meter classes, and above, must pay a nominating fee of $175. RINGS/FOOTING: Mega Sport 1 is approximately 140 x 265 with International all weather footing. Mega Sport 2 is approximately 140 x 265 with International all weather Footing. ESI Ring is approximately 140 x 276 with International all weather footing. Tellepsen Indoor Arena is approximately 150 x 250 with Sandy Loam Footing. Main Indoor arena is 150 x 300 with Sandy Loam Footing. Wheless Arena (East Indoor) is 125 x 250 with Sandy Loam Footing. Footing is a priority; rings may be closed to schooling during inclement weather and/or for maintenance at any time during the show at the manager s discretion. JUMP ORDER: Show Management will determine a rotating jump order for all classes over fences. Riders or Trainers with conflicts must see the paddock masters in both rings so that the necessary adjustments can be made. Starters have the authority to scratch entries that make no attempt to be timely, without going through the Steward or Show Manager. COURSES: Courses will be posted a minimum of one hour prior to each class. In Hunter classes, fences will simulate fences found in the hunt field such as; brush, wall, in & out, oxer, post and rails, and gates. At management s discretion, a dotted line may be put into effect to restrict the size of the courtesy circle in hunter classes. RIBBONS/TROPHIES/CHAMPIONSHIPS: All hunter classes receive a trophy and eight ribbons unless otherwise noted. All equitation classes receive a trophy and six ribbons unless otherwise noted. All jumper classes receive a trophy and six ribbons unless otherwise noted. Each hunter and jumper section will receive a champion & reserve award based on points unless otherwise noted. Full Championship points will be given in all classes in each hunter section except Green Conformation Hunter Model and High Performance Conformation Model which will count as half points. In all hunter sections, Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to two of the top four horses acquiring the most points over fences. These four horses will also receive full points for one under saddle class. PRIZES: Prize money is indicated for each class. Prize money won can be paid by check or deducted from each horses account. An IRS W-9 form must be completed in full before any prize money exceeding $600 can be paid. Prize money will be withheld if the recipients Social Security number or EIN number is not on file. Prize money will be payable to the owner unless written authorization, and complete alternate payee information, is on file with the show secretary. All prize money will be paid within 30 days of the shows conclusion. CAMPERS: Camper spaces are available for $280 per week in spaces 34-96. The Premier camper spaces are available for $350 per week in spaces 1-30. One Pump-out per week is included. Anyone needing additional pump-outs will incur an additional charge. Make your reservations early as spaces will sell out. PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO: From time to time, events at this facility are taped or produced for live and/or delayed broadcast on National Television. GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION COMPETITION NUMBERS: OFFICE ISSUED NUMBERS must be worn in the competition rings. RING SIDE AMMENITIES (includes scoreboards, horse show app, display monitors for instant replay: All rings are equipped with display monitors to view an instant replay of your completed round. The $40 fee includes online viewing of the entire show including your rounds during the duration of the horse show. Video downloads are subjected to additional fees and viewing packages will be available after the show. OPERATION OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of recognized competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described vehicles so long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. USHJA ZONE HOTY CHAMPIONSHIP A USHJA Zone Horse of the Year Championship is designed to reward participants in the USHJA Zone Horse of the Year Award Program by providing them with the opportunity to earn Championship Points. USHJA Zone HOTY Championships are held based upon the recommendation of the applicable Zone Committee and Working Group, and subject to the approval of the Executive Director. USHJA Zone Horse of the Year Championships are open to competitors who meet the minimum eligibility requirements, unless a zone specifically creates qualifying criteria and provides it to USHJA. In order to earn Championship Points in Hunter and Jumper sections, the owner or recorded leasee of the horse/pony must reside within the Zone. Horse owner, rider and trainer must be Active/competing members of USEF and USHJA. Horses must have a USEF annual or Life recording and USHJA registration. In Equitation sections the rider must reside within the Zone to participate in the HOTY Championship and receive Championship Points. If a section held at a USHJA Zone Horse of the Year Championship is open to all competitors, then the Competition Management is responsible for placing the class a second time including only those who are Zone members. The second set of results must be submitted to USEF. Each USHJA Zone Horse of the Year Championship must offer a minimum of 50% of the applicable Zone Horse of the Year Awards sections. Management may elect to hold the Jumper Phase as a Table II, 1.2c (Power & Speed) competition, in which case the Time Allowed will apply only in the speed phase and must be computed at 382 yards per minute. $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby (Autumn Classic) Class 806 Entry Fee: $325 Fences 3, Options 3 5 (Includes $25 USHJA Fee) Open to all eligible horses. $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby (Final Chase) Class 807 Entry Fee: $375 Fences 3 6-4 0 (Includes $50 USHJA Fee) Declarations must be made by 12:00 PM Friday Open to all eligible horses. Riders, owners and trainers must be current active members of the USEF and USHJA before the start of the class. Horses must be on the competition grounds 24 hours prior to the start of the class and must remain on the competition grounds until the completion of the class. All horses must be ridden in the designated schooling areas and back numbers must be worn. The order of go will be posted a minimum of 1 hour prior to the start of the class and the draw may be performed by hand or computer draw. All competing horses must jog for soundness during official jog prior to the start of the first round in order to compete. 2017 Great Southwest Autumn Classic Final Chase $10,000 Hunter Rider Bonus $5,000 Hunter Rider Bonus I 1 st $2,500 2 nd $1,500 3 rd $1,000 A hunter rider bonus will be paid to the top three horse/rider combinations for the total points accrued in one of the following divisions and derby: High Performance, Performance 3 6, Green Hunter 3 9, Green Hunter 3 6, High Performance Conformation, Green Conformation and International Derby Each division will consist of points accrued in 5 classes / week Model points will not count $5,000 Hunter Rider Bonus II 1 st $2,500 2 nd $1,500 3 rd $1,000 A hunter rider bonus will be paid to the top three horse/rider combinations for the total points accrued in one of the following divisions and derby: Performance 3 3 Green Hunter 3 3, Green Hunter 3, and National Derby. Each division will consist of points accrued in 5 classes / week Points will be computed 10, 6, 4, 2, 1,.5 Placings in the Derbies will be awarded double points. In the event of a tie, over fences points will take precedence. Points will follow single horse/rider combinations in a single division. Horse/rider combinations can only compete for either the $5,000 Hunter Rider Bonus I or the $5,000 Hunter Rider Bonus II but not both. Participants must show in both shows in order to be eligible for the hunter bonus. Winner s checks will be paid to the rider and mailed. Winners must present valid address and tax ID number in order to receive bonus checks.
