Did you know... HANDICAP AWARENESS MONTH You must ensure that all your away scores are recorded at your home club. Usually for singles competitions this will happen electronically and automatically via Golfnet and it is a player's responsibility to ensure that the score has been transmitted correctly. If you play at an away venue in a golf society, team classic, four-ball, foursomes or any other form of non-qualifying competition, you must report all scores to your home club. You can also notify your home club of an away score by filling in the Away Score Sheet, which is usually located in the clubhouse. You could also take a picture of your scorecard through your phone and send it by email or text message to the club handicap committee.

St Patricks Night What a night! St Patricks Night at the Golf Club certainly lived up to its reputation. The excellent entertainment from Jimmy Mac, which included audience participation from Mary Longmore and Rita Downey, went down well as we danced the night away. The Stew and St Patricks Day cake was supplied by The Windsor Bakery also went down well. Another great social event was had by all at Banbridge Golf Club. The Joker Weekly Prize Draw Lady Captain Karen Curran does the first draw for the Joker which was won by John Crothers. Since then we have had a further 2 draws with Week 2 and Week 3 both being won by Joe Glass!! The joker is still in the pack and the prize money goes up each week. Costs just 1 to have a chance of being a winner each week, entries at the bar. Course Improvements Now that the golfing season is upon us, we are trying to get 18 holes open for this weekend. As you will see we are doing some essential drainage work at the left hand side of the 16th fairway which is taking longer than expected due to the heavy rain we had but we hope to have it finished next week thanks to all the members for your patience and co-operation. Declan Barry, Greens Convenor

Ladies Fashion Show held on 7th March of clothes from The Noughties

NOUGHTIES Era Fashion Show On Tuesday 7 th March the Ladies held a Noughties Era Fashion show. There was nothing naughty about it but rather it was a bunch of willing volunteers modelling clothes mainly from the 1970 and 1980 s. The audience seemed to relish the event as they were taken back down memory lane and gasped at the outfits they used to wear - some elegant and enchanting others rather embarrassing. The committee would like to thank all the helpers and audience alike and hope they enjoyed the experience. Seen and never forgotten

Update from Bar House and Catering Revamp of the premises continues with all the tables now refurbed and curtains fitted back in the members lounge. Thanks are due again to Danny O'Boyle for his work and also to Eamonn Galloway and Tommy Gillespie for help with fitting the tie backs and curtains. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. The ladies branch have been very proactive in the work around the club and my thanks again to them for all the hard work to date. The next phase is upgrade of our kitchen facilities, which are somewhat antiquated and badly in need of more modern oven etc. The big news for us all is that we have been able to secure new caterers and we are delighted to welcome on board Dan Magennis, Cathy McBurney, Gary Wilson and the team at Shanks Restaurant at Banbridge Golf Club. Dan writes With a combined 30 year experience in the catering industry from fine dinning restaurants to Leisure Centre Cafes we have the expertise to bring to Banbridge Golf Club. Our ethos is a good value locally sourced ingredients menu that has a home cooked feel. Everyone will be able to find a dish that they desire from a Golfer s Fry to Eggs Benedict and Open Sandwiches to Sirloin Steak. We are looking forward to getting open and serving all visitors to Banbridge Golf Club including members, Societies and Private bookings." Their first official day will be a charity event on 21st April and from then they will initially be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, catering also for teams, societies and parties/events as required. The intention is to build up the days as we move further into the season and they will very soon be taking bookings for the first Sunday (23rd April) - keep an eye out on social media and on the Club notice board as that is sure to be a busy day. A typical society menu is also included in this newsletter and the offering to members, visitors and parties will be published soon along with Sunday specials etc. I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the guys all the best for the future. Their success means success for the Club and remember to keep them in mind for any parties that you might be planning. Terry Malcolmson, Bar, House and Catering Convenor

Buggy Compound Nearing Completion Buggy Compound is nearing completion and a very big thank you must go to Morris Phillips for all his work in erecting the structure. Installation of upgraded security camera will hopefully permit us to bring the compound into use early April and we will update relevant members by email in due course. All buggy users (whether stored within the compound or not) must comply with the Club s Buggy Use policy (see next page/article) and also must annually supply the Club Manager with a copy of their up-todate Public Liability Insurance Certificate. Please note that, as per the Club car parks, the Buggy Compound is used at the owners risk and the Club do not hold any responsibility for any damage to the buggies stored therein

Shanks Restaurant at Banbridge Golf Club Please see below a sample menu for our visiting Societies, further menus for Sunday Carvery, Bar Snacks, Team Meals etc will follow in due course. Once we get opened (around 21st April) please come and see us, introduce yourself to us and help us to get to know all the members. Regards The Team at Shanks
