We hope you join us for a wonderful show! SHA SHOWCASE & CHRISTMAS CONCERT Two great events in one day - Dozens of presenters will be on-hand directly preceding Sacred Heart s annual Christmas Concert for this holiday bazaar. Finish up your holiday list, including those hard to find, handcrafted items! The event will run from 4-7 pm in the SHA Dining Hall on Wednesday, December 18 th. After shopping, relax and enjoy the sounds of the season at the annual SHA Christmas Concert taking place at 7pm in the Auditorium. Our girls have been working hard on this performance and they all sound great. Please see the flyer on Page 4, and we hope to see you there! IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT PHYSICALS Physicals at SHA in January or February 2013 - Please remember that all 9th and 10th grade students need to submit a current physical to the Health Office. This is a New York State requirement. Reminder notices were recently sent in the mail to those families whose daughter has not turned in a current physical or who will need a new physical soon. The doctor who works for the Amherst Central School District will be at SHA once in January or February to complete the required physicals. If your daughter has not submitted a physical prior to that date, or if you have not notified the Health Office of an upcoming scheduled appointment, then she will be examined by our physician. Some 10th grade students may have submitted a physical last year during 9th grade that was completed in late winter/early spring 2012. That counted as their 9th grade physical, and they will need a new one as well. Please let the school nurse know if those students have a scheduled appointment in 2013 or if you would like them examined by our physician. Also, if there are any athletes planning on playing spring sports and they are unable to see their own doctor and submit a current physical in time for tryouts, please ask the school nurse to schedule you an appointment with the physician. The doctor is only here one day per school year. The nurse can be reached at 834-2101 ext. 307. CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER These days of holidays are always hectic and we have a lot of SHA community members who are caregivers for their parents, siblings, etc. Sister Diane Gianadda is giving a workshop at Stella Niagara on Caring for Caregivers. Please see Page 5 for more details if interested.

TOPS IN EDUCATION SHA is now registered in the Tops in Education program, a new fundraising program created by TOPS Friendly Markets. The TOPS in Education program gives our school the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for school improvements and programs throughout this school year. You can help! Here s how to get started: 1. Register your TOPS BonusPlusSM or BonusCard and select Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart from the list found at TopsMarkets.com/Education. 2. Shop at TOPS and purchase participating TOPS brand, TopCare or Full CircleTM products with your TOPS BonusPlusSM or BonusCard (see attached listing). 3. TOPS then contributes a percentage of the purchase to SHA. It only takes a minute of your time to make a huge difference for our school. Register your TOPS BonusPlusSM or BonusCard and select our school today so they don t miss out on any funds this year. To learn more about the TOPS in Education program, including information about participating products and tools to spread the word about TOPS in Education to your family and friends, visit TopsMarkets.com/Education, and look at Page 6. Please use the following link to get started - http://www.topsmarkets.com/education/my_school/ CHRISTMAS DANCE This year, the annual SHA Christmas Dance will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012. The dance will take place from 7:00-10:00 pm, at the Hearthstone Manor on Dick Road in Depew. This semi-formal event is open to all SHA students. Light snacks, desserts, and soft drinks will be served. Students may bring a date or come with their SHA friends. Girls wear semi-formal party dresses (no need for prom-type gowns) and boys must wear dress pants, a shirt, and a tie. Please note: It is not necessary to bring a date to this dance. Many students attend with their SHA friends. Also, it is not necessary for students to hire limousines to bring them to the event. Cost is $25 per person. Tickets will be on sale daily in the SHA Dining Hall from November 19 through December 17 during all lunch periods. Checks should be made payable to Sacred Heart Academy. Emergency contact numbers for our students and their dates must also be given. Also note: Students may not enter the dance after 8:00 pm unless special permission is given in advance (parental note required) and everyone should be picked up at the Hearthstone no later than 10:15 p.m. ATTN: ST. JOE S SKI CLUB MEMBERS Please note that the St. Joe s Ski Club will NOT be skiing this Friday, December 14. February 22 will be the make-up session. Students may ski on December 21 & 28; and if your daughter decides to ski on those dates, she will need to go to Guest Services with her identification and tell the representative that she is with the St. Joe s Ski Club. The representative will then issue her a lift ticket. ATTN: NIAGARA WHEATFIELD PARENTS The Niagara Wheatfield School district will be closed on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 so they will NOT be providing transportation on that date. Please make alternate travel arrangements for your daughter. THANK YOU We would like to say thank you to those who purchased an Elite Coupon Book this year. With your help we raised $330 for SHA. Thank you again for your continued support!
