Germany - Innsbruck to Augsburg along the Romantic Road Bicycle Tour 2018 Individual Self-Guided 8 days / 7 nights A journey through time along the old Via Claudia Augusta: cast your mind back to the medieval times, the era of the Fugger family, the Rococco times and the Roman times. The Romantic Road will take you to pompously episcopal and royal residences whilst also showing you the fairytale like Bavarian castles of King Louis as well as letting you get a feel for the Roman baths and vaults. You won t require a time machine, instead just open ears and eyes.
Itinerary Day to Day Day 1: Arrival in Innsbruck Tour information and distribution of the bikes. The famous old town, the golden roof and the Bergisel ski jump are all world famous attractions that lure visitors into Salzburg. Day 2: Innsbruck Imst 65 km You cycle along the River Inn on the former tow path. You will be at the foot of the Martinswand and you will cycle through small villages and market towns to Stams where there is a baroque monastary (Zisterzienserstift). You continue cycling via Haiming to Imst. It is well worth going for a walk here as there are many fountains to see as well as a magnificent mountainous scenery. Day 3: Imst Füssen/Schwangau 55 km Bus transfer up to the Hahntenjoch situated at 2000 m above sea level. If there is snow, the transfer will be via the Fernpass. Afterwards you have a wonderful descent to Elmen in the Lechvalley. The wonderful mountainous landscape, the river and the town of Reutte all combine to make for a dream trip. Füssen, which is boxed in by great Alpine peaks and turquoise mountain lakes, promises you an entertaining stay. Day 4: Tour of the lakes 30 km It is possible to do a small cycle tour to Lake Bannwald and Lake Forggen. However, make sure you leave enough time to visit King Louis castles. Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau attract visitors from all over the world! Day 5: Füssen/Schwangau Schongau 50 km Both King Louis fairytale castles (situated within the Königswinkel) and the excavated Roman baths (at the valley station of the Tegelberg) are definitely worth a visit. The world famous Wies church is also highly worth a visit. In addition, you will also have great scenery whilst cycling to Schongau via Steingaden and Peiting.
Day 6: Schongau Landsberg am Lech 35 km Today you get spectacular views of the Lech valley thanks to the slightly undulating route that you shall take. You can discover traces from the Roman times in Altenstadt, Hochenfurch and Epfach. The cycle path is great and runs all the way into Landsberg s medieval center. The historical town hall and the Bavarian gothic gate are must- sees for every visitor in this area. Day 7: Landsberg am Lech Augsburg 45 km You cycle along the River Lech via Kaufering to Königsbrunn (lasting 11 km, this is the best retained section of the Via Claudia) and then you continue further on to the Fugger town of Augsburg with its famous Fuggerei dating back to the year 1516. There are also many memorials from all eras.. Day 8: Departure or Extension of Trip

A bike tour that is great for all. From Imst/Hahntenjoch 2000m (transfer), you constantly cycle gently downhill with short hilly sections.
