LA84 Festival Novice Synchronized Swimming Rules Summer 2016 *These rules are in addition to the LA84 Foundation Program Rules for Novice Synchronized Swimming. I. ELIGIBILITY Even years you may perform solos, duets, and/ or teams. Odd years you may perform solos, trios and/ or teams. A. Participants should compete in a championship meet to qualify for the LA84 Festival. B. Small agencies have the opportunity to bring 2 routines per age group per category. 2 Midget Beginner Solos & 2 Midget Advanced Solos 2 Midget Teams 2 Junior Beginner Solos & 2 Midget Advanced Solos 2 Junior Beginner Duet/Trios & 2 Junior Beginner Duet/Trios 2 Junior Teams 2 Senior Beginner Solos & 2 Senior Advanced Solos 2 Senior Beginner Duet/Trios & 2 Senior Advanced Solos 2 Senior Teams C. LA City and LA County have the opportunity to bring 3 routines per age group per category. LA City is limited to 2 routines per age group per category for the 2016 program year. (One entry per each region, i.e. 1 Midget Beginner Solo from North, 1 Midget Beginner Solo from South, and 1 Midget Beginner Solo from East and so on.. ) 3 Midget Beginner Solos & 3 Midget Advanced Solos 3 Midget Beginner Duet/Trios & 3 Midget Advanced Duet/Trios 3 Midget Teams 3 Junior Beginner Solos & 3 Junior Advanced Solos 3 Junior Beginner Duet/Trios & 3 Junior Beginner Duet/Trios 3 Junior Teams 3 Senior Beginner Solos & 3 Senior Advanced Solos 3 Senior Beginner Duet/Trios & 3 Senior Advanced Solos 3 Senior Teams D. In the event of a tie, please bring only your agencies allotted entries. If there is a tie between routines: Small agencies would enter the 2 routines with the top scores from the event. Do not bring 3 routines. Large agencies would enter the 3 routines with the top scores from the event. Do not bring 4 routines. II. E. All rules applicable during the regular season carry over to the festival. MEET PROGRAM A. Meet entries should be hand delivered to Melissa Caswell:
Anytime before Wednesday, August 10 th, 2016 at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center (13806 La Mirada Blvd., La Mirada, CA 90638); or At the LA84 Foundation on Wednesday, August 10 th, 2016 between 10AM and 12PM; or At Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatic no later than Friday, August 12 th, 2016. Please submit meet entries only on the LA84 Foundation Synchronized Swimming Festival Routine Sheet, this can be found on the LA84 website. Submit hard copies along with electronic copies with music entries on a USB Drive. See Appendix B for Digital Music Submission Guidelines. B. The meet program will be completed and sent to all participating agencies via email on Sunday, August 14 th, 2016. Each agency will check their information for accuracy and send all changes to the festival host by Wednesday, August 17 th, 2016. No changes will be made to the program after Wednesday, August 17 th, 2016. C. Event Order: Midget Beginner Solos, Junior Beginner Solos, Senior Beginner Solos Midget Beginner Duets/Trios, Midget Advanced Duets/Trios Junior Beginner Duets/Trios, Junior Advanced Duets/Trios Senior Beginner Duets/Trios, Senior Advanced Duets/Trios III. HEAD JUDGE A. The positi9on of head judge will be selected by the LA84 Foundation. B. The head judge will judge all events throughout the entire meet. IV. EQUIPMENT A. Equipment provided by LA84 Foundation will consist of at least one underwater speaker with an amplifier and office supplies needed at the administration table. B. The host agency will provide at least one deck speaker, a microphone for announcing, tables, chairs and shade for controllers, judges and the administration table. V. ANOUNCER A. There will be an announcer present during the entire LA84 Festival. B. Before the routine, the announcer is to announce the names of the participants along with the name of the song for the routine. C. At the end of the routine, the announcer is to announce the scores for the routine. VI. JUDGES
A. Judges will be selected from the participating agencies based on their knowledge of the sport, experience, and participation in the coaches clinic. B. Some agencies may be required to bring more than one judge. C. All judges must judge during an entire event per age group. For example, a judge must be consistent throughout the Midget Solos. VII. COACHES A. Coaches are required to stand in the administration area while their participants are performing a routine. This will allow them to immediately see the score of the routine and begin a protest if necessary at that time. B. Coaches are responsible for their participant s behavior during a routine and while in the facility. C. Caches need to display good sportsmanship throughout the LA84 Festival. D. Coaches must submit a TEAM ROSTER with the entire facility entries at the time of Entry submission. See Appendix A for Festival Roster. VIII. Awards A. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to places 1-3 in each event. IX. PROTESTS A. Only a violation for misinterpretation of the rules can be opposed. B. All protests must be recorded in writing and submitted to the Head Judge at the time of the infractions. All awards involved in events being protested shall be withheld until the protest has been acted upon by a committee consisting of the protesting party (represented by the coach), the head judge, and Aquatic Facility Manager and/or the Synchronized Swimming coordinators. If the protest cannot be resolved immediately, all awards must be held until the Head Judge, the Synchronized Swimming Coordinators and an LA84 Representative can review and resolve the protest.

Appendix B: Digital Music Submission Guidelines Digital Music Submission (LA84 Festival) Digital music files (ACC, MP3) are to be submitted for routines for the LA84 Foundation Synchronized Swimming Festival. Submit digital music in person to Synchronized Swimming Coordinator Melissa Caswell by Wednesday, August 10 th, 2015. Digital music will be imported to itunes or a compatible program and each file tested to ensure it plays. You will not be contacted if your music is correct. You will only be contacted if your music is missing or will not play. Playlists will be created for each routine competition to be played through the sound system. We recommend submitting 160 kbit/s AAC or higher quality audio for best sound results. 128 kbit/s MP3s are NOT recommended, if using MP3 files, please ensure they are at least 192 kbit/sec. A minimum one second leader (silence) before the music starts added to all files is recommended.
