The new windows for the East wall of the White Swan Room are in, it s been dry walled and painted, and looks great! With the vertical mullion in the center of the window it makes the room look larger and matches the windows on the North and South walls. MYC is fortunate to have members like those who donated their time, labor, and in some cases materials to get this done. The project heads will be reporting on who all the workers were. When you see them at the Club give them a big THANK-YOU. Don Cisler and crew mulched under the evergreens and has been keeping the grounds looking top notch - thanks. At the October membership meeting which was also the annual meeting, policy changes were voted on and approved. Four members were elected to three year terms on the board of directors, congratulations! The Tom & Jerry Party will be November 21, thanks to Scott Wagner for volunteering himself and FRIENDS to run it. Change of Watch will be Saturday December 8th. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. THANKS, Steve this issue Commodore s Thoughts Committee News November & December Calendars Sailor s Page Bar Manager: Maureen Shebesta

Page 2 Veteran s Steak Night Tuesday November 13 In appreciation for their service to our country. We deeply appreciate the sacrifices these men and women have made to protect the freedoms we all enjoy! Sponsored by Pfeffer Funeral LLC. All Veteran s (both men and women, members and nonmembers) receive free admission and one free drink on Steve and Skip! Bring your own entree to grill! Members: $5 Guests: $6 Committee News House Committee Jim Kocian, Chairman I am pleased to report that our Friday night numbers continue to remain at around 121, which is good! October 12th we had our largest turnout of the year. A number of factors resulted in a long wait for some diners. Like other popular establishments large crowds means long waits. I can attest to that! That same weekend I was in Galena, IL where we dined at a popular Supper Club. The wait was almost two hours. While waiting I was having a conversation with a couple from Indiana when the owner informed them that he gave their table to someone else. The issue was resolved professionally and this situation reinforced my thinking that no one is perfect in this business. That being said thank you to everyone for keeping our numbers up. Remember November 9 is our Grilled Steak and Shrimp Special! Our highly acclaimed team of Chef Brian, Tracy and Keith will prepare a knock out meal for your enjoyment. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at 905.1650. Board of Director s Results On October 30 the election to fill the four board of director openings was held. The following will serve a three year term beginning in January 2013: 1. Ron Schmidt 2. Tim Hecker 3. Heidi Koch 4. Jim Kocian Thank you to Bob Michaels, Jude Gosz and Dean Rosinsky for helping out with the election. Ladies Auxiliary Sandie Murray, President The Ladies Auxiliary met on October 1 for their annual steak/boiled shrimp dinner at the Yacht Club. It was a feast, as usual! Our next meeting will be on November 5, when Auxiliary member, Jan Steeber will demonstrate her talents as a professional clown. Jan, on occasion, volunteers her skills at various events. The Auxiliary participated in the Coats for Kids Campaign that is held every year at this time. Fourteen coats or jackets were donated to this worthy cause. Another Bake Sale will be held at the Yacht Club on Friday night, November 9. Delicious, home-made desserts will be sold for $2.00 each, and proceeds are used toward the Christmas for Needy Children funds. The Ladies Auxiliary will be decorating the Club for Christmas on Monday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. Anyone who is willing or able to help will be greatly appreciated! An Interesting Read: SCUTTLEBUTT The Scuttlebutt e-newsletter was fi rst launched in 1997, well before regatta organizers and the sailing media had embraced the Internet. The early focus was Southern California, but as interest in the publication grew both nationally and internationally, so did the content. Today, the roots of Scuttlebutt sailing news remain fi rmly in North America, with content selected to emphasize the events and stories of most interest to sailors on this continent. They have some big changes planned for this year... it is a good time to be a Scuttlebutt follower. Subscribe to the free e-newsletter or read online.
