INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON UNION BID PROCESS - ITU PARATRIATHLON EVENTS 2018 This document outlines the bid conditions for International Triathlon Union (ITU) Paratriathlon events: - ITU World Paratriathlon Series (WPS) - ITU Paratriathlon World Cup (PWC) The World Triathlon Series Grand Final (generally hosting the Paratriathlon World Championships) and the Continental Championships where the staging of the Paratriathlon competitions are already a contractual obligation, are excluded from these bid provisions. 1. General Information: a. ITU WPS and WPWC competitions are conducted by ITU in cooperation with its member NFs. b. ITU calls for bids annually, but multi-year agreements can be agreed upon. c. Priority will be given to existing organizers that host ITU events and/or followed the ideal development path of hosting a National event first. 2. Number of events per continent: a. WPS events: 2-4 events Worldwide that can be combined with a World Triathlon Series event or ran independently, maximum 1 per continent. b. PWC events: 8-10 events Worldwide that can be combined with another ITU event or ran independently. 3. Event fee: o 5,000 USD for WPS races payable to ITU. o 2,500 USD for PWC races payable to ITU. 4. Athlete Registration Event fee: o Free for WPS events. o Max 50$ USD for PWC 5. Classification: a. ITU will strategically target events for classification opportunities and in those cases will cover the cost of the classifiers and LOCs are expected to work closely with ITU to ensure classification requirements are met for facilities and established procedures in the regulations. b. LOCs and NFs can also request for classification opportunities outside of these events for both physical and vision impairments. For this the LOC is to pay ITU 3,500 USD per panel and all travel and per-diem costs of the classifiers will be paid by ITU. c. Classifications hosted outside the official opportunities in the calendar will not be recognized by ITU. 6. General Requirements: a. Have previous experience in hosting national or international paratriathlon event. b. The event has to be supported/endorsed by the host National Federation. c. Run the competition under the ITU Competition Rules and according to the LOC Requirement document and the Event Organisers Manual - EOM:

Events not being hosted together with another ITU sanctioned event must comply with and refer to the 2018 LOC Requirements document posted under http://www.triathlon.org/uploads/docs/ e. An event insurance of 5,000,000 USD is required unless the event is covered by the insurance policy of the existing ITU event. f. Branding Guidelines: o For WPS races: As per the WTS specifications. o For standalone WPS and PWC races: http://www.triathlon.org/uploads/docs/paratriathlon_brand_v5.pdf g. Anti-doping Controls In-competition urine tests (ESAs and GHRFs included with the standard in-competition testing menu) o For WPS events: a minimum of 10 in-competition tests in total. o For PWC events: a minimum of 6 in-competition tests in total. h. Accommodation: i. WPS: o Cover up to 20 room nights for the ITU team (distribution may be single/double rooms with a minimum of 2 single rooms). When hosting the World Paratriathlon Series in conjunction with a World Triathlon Series event, the LOC will not need to duplicate any accommodation resources or provisions, if such elements are already gathered under the WTS agreement, particularly around accommodation and room nights. o Cover 8 rooms free of charge (double occupancy and breakfast included) for 3 nights for the top designated athletes. ii. PWC: o Cover up to 15 room nights for the ITU team (distribution may be single/double rooms with a minimum of 2 single rooms). o Cover 4 rooms free of charge (double occupancy and breakfast included) for 3 nights for the top designated athletes. i. Transport of ITU family: LOC must provide airport transfers for the entire ITU team. j. Live Timing i. WPS: For WPS events the LOC must provide live timing in accordance to the live timing standard that ITU will use for integration with its web properties. ii. PWC: If live timing is available, ITU may display the data on the ITU website or publish a link to a external website hosted by the timer. k. Live Video Streaming i. WPS: To increase the profile of the sport, ITU will assist in providing live streaming services at WPS events. This requires local camera feed (Sport Presentation), internet and power provided by the LOC. Please see the full requirements here. Streaming stats example: Yokohama 2017 (Facebook): - 1.04 million people reached - 72.3k video views - 8000+ reactions, comments and shares - 64k minutes viewed
ii. PWC: No specific requirements. Anything provided by the LOC will be published on ITU s platforms. ITU will assist in this process as much as possible. l. TV/Broadcasting ii. WPS/PWC: No specific requirements. Any footage or highlights captured to be shared with ITU for distribution. ITU will endeavour to get maximum exposure for the event. Any details should be shared as early as possible with tv@triathlon.org m. Phones with local sim card including data: LOC must provide: i. For WPS not linked with a WTS event: 3 local phone with sim cards for the use of the ITU team. ii. For PWC not linked with another ITU event: 2 local phone with sim cards for the use of the ITU team. n. Maximize exposure for the ITU title sponsor according to Branding Guidelines for Paratriathlon. 7. Media a. WPS events will receive maximum exposure on www.triathlon.org via news stories, photo galleries and results. b. WPS: LOCs must provide ITU a minimum of 20 High resolution pictures from the event to the ITU Media team and whatever footage of the event has been produced c. PWC: LOCs must provide a minimum of 10 high resolution pictures from the event to ITU Media team. If footage is available, the LOC may share this with the ITU. 8. ITU Global Sponsor Activation ITU reserves the right to activate a global sponsor for the events. The activation may include being the title sponsor. 9. Bidding timeline: a. Bid document released: 1 AUG 2017 b. Submission of the Expression of interest: 4 September 2017 c. 2017 ITU Paratriathlon Calendar announcement: xx ember 2017 10. The bids to be submitted to ITU at events@triathlon.org Interested Host Organizers must submit the fully compiled APPENDIX attached below to this document as part of their bid expression of interest along with a letter of host National Federation support and a letter of support from the Host City.
