Skipper - John Bankart With over 30 years and 170 000 sea miles John is regarded as a very experienced yachtsman. His experience includes cruising the South Pacific, racing around the world, deliveries in both hemispheres and charter work in both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. He has traversed both the Panama and Suez canals. John is highly respected by his peers throughout the world. Just a few of his most noted credentials are competing in 6 Sydney to Hobarts, the infamous Fastnet and skipper of the yacht Maiden in the Hong Kong Challenge Around the World Yacht Race in 1996/7John was one of the three onboard the yacht Magna Data when they set a world record for a fully crewed non-stop Around Australia in 1999. An accomplished RYA/MCA Ocean Yachtmaster, John is also an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor and Examiner. Monday 17 th October Transfers to the RMYC Marina to meet the crew and first day of briefing & familiarisation on the yacht. Dinner will be served during a night cruise of the Grand Harbour on the yacht INFRARED. Tuesday 18 th October Transfers to the RMYC Marina for a Full Day of Sailing. Dinner at a local restaurant. Wednesday 19 th October Transfers to the RMYC Marina for the first race of the regatta. The Coastal Race is a qualifier for the IRC yachts. The race follows a course around the islands of Malta. Dinner provided at the accommodation rooftop Knights House Theme Party. Thursday 20 th October Lay Day join us for an optional excursion of the island.
