NOZOMI YOUNG KOI SHOW 2008 INFORMATION PACKET General Information and Rules Participation and Qualification: The Nozomi Young Koi Show is open to all Koi hobbyists. Entering Fish: Show Style: We will be using an American style of showing fish. Each Koi owner will have the option of either having a tank designated exclusively for their fish, or sharing a communal tank with other entrants. Identification: To ensure that all entrants get their own fish back, digital photos will be taken at the time of benching. Entry Fees: Entry fee will be $25.00 per owner which will cover the entry for one to five koi. Entrants entering five or fewer than five koi, may share a show tank with other entries at the Show Committee s discretion. Entrants who do not wish their koi to come into contact with other koi or who wish to enter more than five koi will be assigned a show tank for their exclusive use at an additional fee of $25.00 per tank. Entrant Worksheets for computing tank needs are enclosed later in this packet. Pre-registration for tank space is required. We cannot insure the availability of additional tanks at check-in time. Contact Zak Schmidt (425 486 8504 or zgschmidt@koi.com ) for tank reservations. Registration and Check-in: Check-In Times: Fish Registration and Check-In will be from 1:00 PM til 5:00 PM Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th from 7:00 AM til 10:00 AM. No entries will be allowed at any other times. Limited boarding and airport pick up service is available for out-of-towners who wish to enter koi in the show. Please float your fish only in your assigned 2

tank. The Check-In Committee will review your registration paperwork and will call you when it s time to bench your fish. Health Check: All fish entered will be examined for sores and disease, measured, and entered in their proper size and classification. The Check-In Committee will then determine if a fish is eligible to be in the show. If a fish is disqualified for health reasons, we will re-bag and oxygenate it, and ask that you return it to its home. Classification: Each fish will be identified by classification and size. The classifications used in judging are listed on p. 7. Please note that it is the responsibility of the entrant to select the correct classification. If you need assistance we ll be glad to suggest the correct one at check-in. Preparation: To ensure the health of your fish and to help maintain high water quality we require you to purge (do not feed) your fish for a minimum of three days prior to the show. After Registration and Check-In: Handling: Once fish have been checked in, no handling or examination will be allowed by anyone except authorized show personnel. Withdrawal: After fish have been placed in their appropriate tank they may only be withdrawn from the show with the authorization of the Show Chairperson. Check-Out: Fish will be bagged by authorized show personnel according to preassigned check-out order. The show committee will strictly enforce this order. All entrants are responsible for providing their own bags and carrying containers. (bags may be purchased at the show site) Fish will only be returned to the entrants or to the dealer providing the entrant s delivery and pick-up service. Therefore, no one except authorized show personnel will be allowed to monitor or correct water quality. Please bring your own net to the show with your name on the net for identification if you have concerns about having your koi come in contact with other koi.
