INITIATORS Severin Ruoff - 王瑞 Severin is in the second last semester of his Bachelor in International Affairs at the University of St. Gallen. He is currently on an exchange program in Oslo, Norway. He has been learning Chinese since 2013 when he first went to Beijing for 6 months. Since then he is improving these language skills during multiple visits to China as well as gaining a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture. He has been working for the Swiss Ski School Crans-Montana since 8 years as a licensed ski teacher. In addition he is completing the highest degree in this field. He was raised in Crans-Montana giving him a strong attachment to the region and the ski resort. He was ski racing from 6 to 16 years old competing up to national level. Working for the EU Chamber of Commerce in Chongqing, China, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Amsterdam, Michiel enjoyed abundant exposure to the Chinese-European environment. The cultural differences that he encountered between China and his own, resulted in the inspiration to start the 'Kicking Cultures' project. The Chinese language skills he obtained at the Beijing Language and Culture University and the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, have proven to be his best tool to face these cultural challenges. Crans-Montana has been Michiel s second home all his life. He started skiing at the age of 4 and has hit the slopes several weeks a year ever since. ORGANIZATION LOCAL PARTNERS Kicking Cultures - is a Dutch company organizing cultural exchanges for children with a strong focus on sports. The company was founded by Michiel Ebbing, who has been actively involved with China since 2006. 爱瑞滑雪 - Severin & Michiel decided to jointly organize winter camps in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) for children with a China link. For the skiing activities we will work together with the Swiss Ski and Snowboard School. This professional ski school in Crans-Montana was founded in 1926. The Swiss Ski School brand comprises over 172 schools throughout Switzerland and is the largest association in its field. http://www.esscrans-montana.ch Saarlight - was established by Li Shitao and Adore Saarberg and is based in Beijing. They provide a variety of lessons for Chinese children and adults. They teach English, French, sports, culture, among many more. KICKING CULTURES CAMPS Since the summer of 2016, Kicking Cultures organizes summer and winter camps for Chinese children (7-14 years) in the Netherlands and Switzerland. The camps offer sports activities, language classes, teamwork assignments, and cultural expeditions to let children experience a different culture, study English, play sports, while giving them the opportunity to meet and play with children from another country. CRANS-MONTANA Thanks to its multiple world cup ski races and clinics Crans- Montana is an internationally known health and sports resort. It is located in French-speaking part of Switzerland in the heart of the Alps, 1500 meters above sea level. The resort is conveniently located 2 hours from Geneva airport and can be accessed by car and train. Crans-Montana is famous for the good quality of its air as well as the high number of sun hours. The plateau is overlooking the Rhone Valley while facing Europe s highest peaks. The ski area ranges from 1500 meters to the Plaine Morte glacier at an altitude of 3000 meters. ACCOMMODATION We will be residing at the Lago Lodge in Montana. The hotel is located on the side of a lake in the heart of Crans-Montana. The ski lift is just behind the hotel, saving both time and effort that ensures more quality time on the ski slopes. During our stay, we will be separated from other hotel guest. SKI CLOTHING The temperature during the camp will most certainly be below zero degree celsius, for this reason the kids need to dress accordingly. Thermal clothes are used under ski jacket and pants, these skin tight clothes help to stay warm. The ski suit isolates the body from wind and water in order to stay warm. Skiing socks are used to keep warm but also to enhance control of your skis. Good eye protection from the sun and snow is very important. Therefore the kids should have both sunglasses and snow goggles.
COME ALONG We can make all the arrangements for the parents to accompany their children on their trip. You will be able to attend some of the activities of the children in addition to your own custom made travel program. This way you can be part of your child s adventure and experiences, while at the same time discover the beautiful countries of Holland and Switzerland yourself. TRANSPORTATION Geneva is a convenient connection from many cities around China with a travel time of around 9-10 hours. If your child is traveling alone from Beijing, our team member Li Shitao will supervise the children during the flight: February 1 February 10 For transportation in Switzerland we will have mini-buses available, which is a very convenient way to travel.

SUMMARY ORGANIZER Your child has to be between the age of 7-14 years. The camp will take place from February 1 to February 11 in 2018. The group size will be 10-15 children, with at least 4 full time supervisors. The camp will be organised in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The plane ticket and your VISA are not included in the price. It is possible to accompany your child, but they can also come individually. We will arrange assistance every step of the way! Kicking Cultures Kicking Cultures B.V. is a company registered in The Netherlands. This company will be responsible for the organisation of the camp and the well-being of the children. Severin Ruoff and Michiel Ebbing will be in charge of the organisation of the Camp and applications.
